Yes. Apparently, people are supposed to kill themselves if they're taken captive by Orcs. Especially women. Those that have the AP can provide more detail.
It's a part of the setting, grown out of the history of constant raids and the choice between being savaged by the raiders or taking one's own life.
Naturally, it is a very touchy subject.

It's also reminiscent of real world history, where in certain times and places an 'honorable' woman was expected to kill herself rather than let herself be raped.
Ugly, but there it is.

Honestly the whole "most half orcs cone from rape" thing was probably THE defining reason we changed them.
mm. That is an awful origin story to make common.
I have a lot of info on how half orcs are in my world but not much on origins outside of references to the orcs simply ruling that part of the world after the war ended. I would like to keep such monstrous acts to an absolute minimum.

No Half-Orcs here.
With something like 65 races in Pathfinder they don't have a chance.
And with Skittermanders, Androids, Shirren, and Ysoki in Starfinder they definitely don't have a chance.
I have a nephew that always makes a Drow elf.
And he's a HUGE Star Wars fan so we're all fairly certain he's going to make a Drow Solarian for Starfinder.

Random stuff for the afternoon:
It's two different business models, and explains why Pandora stopped me from thumbs-downing songs.
The good news is you can just delete and rebuild a channel and your votes get reset.
I suppose that does indeed resolve our issues, but I *really* wanted to ask him whether he also allowed dead people to take actions...
I'm hoping he takes it well, rather than having the session devolve into a HUGE debate over, "Oh, I NEVER said that! See? I have notes! And that NPC would NEVER have reacted THAT way! And I find this totally unrealistic!"
I mean, honestly, it's the first time one of his PCs is actually being taken to task for their horrific actions (in spite of every single one of his PCs in every single campaign I've been in with him being an execrable person. He loves playing slimeballs). He says he loves roleplay. So I'm hoping it'll all go smoothly.
Hope for the best. Plan for the worst.
EDIT: To be clear, I think the RAWyer's suggestion makes sense and makes the AP work as-written. It was the RAWyer's attitude that irritated me...

I've identified the bane of the modern world. It is not social media, it is not our general reliance on tech, it is not the increasingly sophisticated robots taking our jobs, it is not our deteriorating environment, it is especially not pumpkin spice, it is not the hipster -- whatever hipsters are, I'm still not clear on that -- it isn't even power-hungry politicians.
It is tupperware.
Every time I open the dishwasher and see that top shelf half-full of tupperware, I shudder. Every time I open that cupboard and think How can we be trying so hard yet failing so miserably at keeping this organized?!, I feel the rage of a thousand burning suns.
If you hear in the news MAN ARRESTED FOR BURNING DOWN OWN HOUSE IN EFFORT TO DESTROY TUPPERWARE, you'll know who it's about.

We threw out all our Tupperware and bought glass containers. It forces you to be far more selective when deciding which leftovers merit survival.

All my family's zillions of Tupperware stuff mysteriously vanished when we moved to Tennessee in 2003. I wonder if they just decided not to pack it.
The collection has not been rebuilt since.
Lucky you!
But that does indicate that there is a household in this great state of Tennessee that has no Tupperware!!!
*gathers friends, family, pitchforks, torches*
And now we begin our crusade, brethren, to purge the evildoer from among us!!
*ahem*
Sorry. Got carried away.
I mean -- it is pretty shocking . . . .

did they have the good stuff? Because some of those older Tupperware containers could probably survive nuclear winter. The newer stuff is kinda sad.

Our culture as a whole has been very bad at handling suicide.
Not to trample around in a already touchy subject, but it might be more appropriate to say that a lot of Societies, both present and historical, have had great difficulty in handling this particular darker aspect of human nature.
If we just look at "western civilization", you could very broadly define the following attitudes:
Antiquity: Suicide is acceptable, with very few outspoken critics. Especially if it was a matter of "Patriotic Suicide" ie, suicide to save oneself from great dishonor. Very much in line with other Honor/pride-based societies around the world.
Dark Ages + Middel Ages:
Christianity overturns the previous acceptance. Suicide is now generally a crime that's leveled again the perpetrator both in this and the next life. Suicide is a deadly Sin, thus could led to excommunication, and some local laws have been found that imposed fines or confiscation of property on those who attempt suicide.
Renaissance:
Continues medieval practices. Sometimes even with harsher penalties on those who attempt suicide. Laws that level truly horrible penalties on the victims of suicide (or more rarely the families) is often found in this period.
The first outspoken critics begin to reaffirm that suicide could be an option in certain circumstances. They even go so far as to claim that it could be a good and pious act.
Enlightenment:
Claims of individual freedom are slowly extended to the subject of suicide. In pamflets and early newspapers (much more rarely) you being to see early discussions on the subject.
19th Century:
Mental illness enters the debate for earnest. Generally you see the causes of suicide shift from a result of sin, to a result of insanity or substances abuse.
However its first here we begin to see changes in the language and content of the laws pertaining to suicide (although the word suicide does crop up from around the early 18the century). In the late 19th century we see a significant movement to lessen or even remove the penalties level against victims of suicide by law.

Our culture as a whole has been very bad at handling suicide.
Another major issue is our lack of distinguishing between types of suicide:
There needs to at least be a distinction between "emotional suicide", where an otherwise-healthy person decides to end their own life, and "physical suicide", where someone is choosing to die because of real, measurable, physical disabilities.
Until we can even distinguish those differences, we really can't approach suicide rationally.

Well, thanks to Shiro I figured out my Pandora issues:
I'm just astonishingly sexist in my entertainment choices. During the day when I'm at work, I want to listen to women singing. I find their voices far more "comfortable" than men's. And when I play MMORPGs, I always play a female.
Someone asked me why, and it was pretty easy (forgive me if I've posted this here before):
"I'm going to be staring at this person's backside for the next 200-300 hours. Why the h*** would I want to play a MAN?!?!"

Oh, c'mon! This is FaWtL! 20 minutes without a post?!?!? No one linking Tupperware to suicides? C'mon, folks! I'm disappointed!
Don't look at me. I just spent the last two hours watching the exit gates to make sure all the new University students can leave the garage without them trying to put their Smartcard-based lease cards in the slot meant for tickets and Credit Cards.

It's very simple.
No one squats like Gaston, lifts a lot like Gaston, strikes a pose before firing a shot like Gaston.

Yeah, you just described why most of my cRPG/MMO characters are female...
