I'm so, so, sorry. I did that, recently, too, for some unknown reason.

In truth, the film wasn't all that bad, but I totally understand why people weren't happy about it. It also wasn't that good. So.

I love how the Puerto Rican government left the crime scene exactly as it was for however long it took to recover.

Just a T-shirt.

50 minutes in and his entire "disguise" is a T-shirt.

And now he's standing in front of city hall.

Tony Stark he isn't.

No. They're just fixing the code that the last fix broke.

Gods, I feel your pain. At the video store:

  • 10:00 am: Show up for work, tidy the store, sort the shelves, put the returned movies away, set up the reserved videos
  • 11:00 am: Open the store
  • 3:00 pm: Shelves still look great!
  • 6:00 pm: After-work rush has come and gone, shelves are a bit sparser, but still looking good
  • 7:30 pm: ONE pair of parents (and it was ALWAYS BOTH parents) would bring their hyperactive, totally-undisciplined kid in, the kid would run amok, and they would just look abashed at us, say, "Sorry," and then, "Timmy, that's not nice. Please stop that, Timmy," without doing ANYTHING to stop Timmy.
  • 7:45 pm: At least two sections of the store are trashed. Timmy is throwing a tantrum because his parents won't get him the movie *he* wants.
  • 7:50 pm: The parents relent, get Timmy what he wants, apologize to us, and leave, leaving the store in ruins
  • The owner took to just throwing the parents out. It was VERY nice. And made for a better work experience. And somehow, we didn't lose any business over it...

If only more businesses would realize this instead of being stuck in the long-outdated "we can't dare do anything that might risk upsetting a customer" mindset....

Yeah, for me it was a religion professor.

That must have really sucked for you.

...And to totally rub it in your face, the three religion courses I was forced to take -- was pursuing my engineering degree at the time, had already been thru one complete liberal arts program, and had no interest in religion courses -- turned out to be a lot of fun, thanks to some very fun and passionate professors.

Full disclosure though, I did not even try to read St Augustine's Confessions. Sparknotes FTW, and I still scored the highest grade on the final paper we wrote about it! It helped that I was about ten years older than most of the other students, and had earned a degree in English the first time thru college. :)

    You didn't miss anything.

I went to a Catholic university that made us read the full text of everything. I grew to hate Augustine and his stupid pear more than reason should allow.

I read Confessions and wasn't impressed either. Hadn't finished the last chapter or so because of the lack of time before exam and hadn't have motivation to return to it afterwards.

Fun fact: during the exam, the teacher asked me about "the hatchet". I froze trying to recall theological significance of the hatchet for Augustine, only to realize after few moments (and a helpful question from the teacher) that it was biographical reference. I made a facepalm in front of the teacher and then told the story of Augustine's friend.

Yeah I read the first paragraph of the first chapter, considered all the other things I was expected to for my final semester of engineering courses -- some of which my profs never taught us how to do -- and went NOAP! Between sparknotes and the prof's lectures though, I got everything I needed for the final paper. Don't remember anything about a hatchet, and only the fuzzy memory of a peach being mentioned...

Sometimes you just have to do academic triage, and that time paid off. :)

Started buying PDFs for all future APs that I'll buy. Except where the print version is less expensive. Example: Second Darkness, $5 per printed book versus $14 for a PDF. Sure, I'll take the books. So, to date, I have as PDFs: The Starfinder CRB, Dead Suns 1 and 2, and the Curse of the Crimson Throne book ( not the original AP ). I should get the Second Darkness books in less than 15 days.

Prior to this decision, I've got, in print: Rise of the Runelords ( the original AP and the book ), Wrath of the Righteous, Strange Aeons, and Ironfang Invasion. I've got 4 of the 6 Reign of Winter books, and the remainder as PDFs.

No-one's implying that at all. Since I program, allow me to give everyone some of my insight. Every time someone fixes a bug, the fix introduces the possibility of another bug emerging. Each line of code may have side effects which may, or may not, affect code elsewhere. Most of the time, such side effects are trivial. But occasionally, the entire table of dominoes fall. When that happens, the entire Server can go down. I hope that this explanation helps.
