I've decided the evil character I'm going to come up with tonight at work will be my iconic murderhobo Pepe, I'm thinking Swashbuckler but am totally open to ideas.
Hrm. Daring Champion Cavalier, perhaps? Add in Order of the Cockatrice, challenge, and all those goodies, and he's shaping up to be a true murderhobo!

Me: we're a toy store.
Also three different people called me ma'am, one while looking at me face to face.
My favorite was working in a video store just across the street from an "artsy" theater.
"Excuse me, we're going to go see, 'A boring movie with subtitles'. If there's a problem with our kids, can you come get us?"
"What do you mean? We're a video store, not a day care."
"Yeah, but they'll be no trouble at all. We'll be back for them in 3 hours. Come get us if there's a problem."I was a bit sad that in 4 years of being associated with that store, we only turned kids over to the police ONCE....
The usual. Anywhere between 4 and 11.

Duh. He's playing a flute. He's clearly a bard that kills you through your ears. >:I
Strictly hypothetical conspiracy/jokes on you* and glibness** aside...
My weapon is literally my flute!
You sleep, I slit (your throat)!
My weapon is my flute! (Though more metaphorically, this time!)
Or, of course, the ever-popular,
Either way, they're all pretty standard hobos who can seriously murder a dude and use a flute.
Barring that, nah, see, this is just a flute, and I'm an everyday Galtan is a thing!
Those aside, I could see humorous uses of such with a Magus or even refluffed Gunslinger (heh), or maybe Investigator (like an evil Sherlock Holmes) on about the same level as using a flute as an improvised weapon with a swashbuckler (which is also pretty funny).
Yes, I'm totally obsessing over the flute. ;P
* Actually, a fun random occurrence.
** Totally accurate.
EDIT: For clarification

What book is the Daring Champion from?

That's rough, I do not like working third shift, no fun at all, sorry man!
Thanks. This is week # 4 of 6 to 9+, depending upon how my coworker feels. Then come July, if things go the way that I am expecting them to go, the same coworker will bump me there permanently. ~tired sigh~

The good old Advanced Class Guide. It's one of my favorite archetypes for Cavalier (a class I already have a distinct love for), and gets a lot of the Swashbuckler's goodies. Sadly, Parry and Riposte is not one of these goodies, but at least you get precise strike at level 4.

Rosita the Riveter wrote:Hey, NobodysHome. I'm seriously considering renting a room in Berkeley starting in June. Do you have any thoughts on that? The *only* serious problem with that is the rents: Because it's a university town, you'll end up paying a lot more rent than you might in a nearby burg such as, say, El Cerrito, Richmond, or Oakland. On the other hand, because it's a university town, you can find bike paths leading most everywhere, and BART and bus lines are ubiquitous.
It my requirement was, "I want to live on my own in a low-rent place close to public transportation, but that's actually a decent place to live," I'd ponder the Richmond hills east of 580. We lived up there for a few years before Impus Major was born, and our rent was $1200 for a huge 1200-square-foot place. $1 a square foot is a bargain around here, but that WAS 14 years ago, and rents have skyrocketed.
Albany is just plain stupid. 2-bedroom apartments are going for $3500. Berkeley has rent control, but if you get a roommate you'll end up with exactly the same druggie roommate issues you're facing in S.F., if not worse. Richmond and Oakland have really nice places pretty cheap because of their reputations, but you need to know the neighborhoods; there really are very, very, VERY awful places to live in those cities. But there are nice places as well, and they're cheaper because of the reputation. El Cerrito's a nice little town no one's heard of where the rents are still reasonable. Other cities around here (Kensington, Piedmont) are even worse than Albany.
Is that the kind of information you were looking for?
It is, yea. Could you tell me more about Oakland or Richmond? Is El Cerrito on BART (I don't drive, but I do like bicycles)? I've been hearing Oakland is getting pretty pricey, too.

But heck... if you're in Berkeley, we'll treat you to dinner. And if we can't stand you or you can't stand us? No worries!!! It's par for the course!
We should meet up sometime after this semester regardles. Easy enough to get from San Francisco or Daly City to Berkeley, and by extension Albany.

Facebook reminded me that I said this a year ago, and I thought it was worthy of here:
As much as I like shows and movies with Kelsey Grammer, just once I want to see him play something besides an erudite high society intellectual. They're all the same guy; even in X-Men, the Beast is just Frasier in desperate need of electrolysis.
Come on Kelsey, stretch your acting muscles and play a Nascar-watching, beer-swilling, wife beater wearing, trailer park piece of white trash!
I pretty much guarantee an Oscar if you can pull it off. Everyone will be so shocked it's inevitable.

Random thought of the day... Why don't men ever wax their faces? Then they wouldn't have to shave all the time.
1) Blades are more manly and dangerous (in theory)
2) Waxing is what women do to themselves, or to you when they want a laugh3) It's unnecessarily painful (see latter part of point 2). Pulling robust, masculine hairs, knotty and thick as tree branches, out by the roots, in clumps?! When you could scrape them off painlessly with a bright, sharp, thrilling four-blade multi super quantum sports swoosh turbo mega ultra tech razortron? That's crazy lady talk, right there!! :P

El Cerrito has TWO BART stations: The El Cerrito Plaza and El Cerrito Del Norte. There are a LOT of apartments around the Plaza, it has all the shopping you need, and there's a bike path that runs right under the BART tracks all the way into North Berkeley. When my mother was looking for a place in 2012, she was finding one-bedroom places within an easy walk (for an 81-year-old) of the Plaza for around $1200/month.
The neighborhoods aren't bad at all, and it hasn't been 100% gentrified yet. So near El Cerrito Plaza would be a fantastic win if you could find a place near there.
El Cerrito Del Norte falls into the category of "Richmond". If you're going to live in Richmond, you want to be at least a quarter mile east of highway 80, or a quarter mile west of 580. The area in between is the "iron triangle", and it's legendarily bad news.
I'm really not familiar with Oakland. I have a lot of friends who live there, and we eat downtown a LOT (Sobo Ramen! Nom!). The places they direct me are always really nice. In fact, in Richmond it's very, very easy to find yourself in a neighborhood where you're uncomfortable. In Oakland I find it much harder to find such a place. Maybe it's just that I travel about during daylight hours.
My *impression* is that anywhere between 580 and 880 is OK and usually pretty cheap, with closer to 880 being "worse" and closer to 580 being "better", but it would be better to talk to someone even more local than I about that one.

Random thought of the day... Why don't men ever wax their faces? Then they wouldn't have to shave all the time.
My *impression* is that beard hairs have larger roots than arm/leg hairs, so it would be more akin to waxing your head hair (which I've also never heard of).
Maybe it's that men are infamous pansies when it comes to waxing (the YouTube videos of manly men screaming like mice when a wax strip comes off are ubiquitous), or maybe it's just tradition.
Darned good question, though. I've always pondered Nairing or waxing my face, but I've always been told, "Nooooooooo... you don't want to do THAT!" without further explanation...

At least part of it is not wanting to get those sorts of chemicals anywhere near your mouth and/or eyes.
