Alright, I need everyone to supply me with the following:
Player Name (The name I will be putting on the chronicle sheet):
Character Name:
PFS #:
Day Job:
Perception modifier:
Initiative modifier:
Also: PatheticWretch, I'm Hiding In Your Closet, and Magabeus. I need you three to click on my name (GM Upaynao) and let me know that you have read my expectations and are ok with them.

![]() |

Player Name: I'm Hiding In Your Closet
Character Name: Lucija Lal Rani
PFS #: 40025-1
Day Job: Craft (Painting): 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (1) + 28 = 29
Expert Entrepreneur reroll: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (15) + 28 = 43
Perception modifier: Lucija's - 0; Naghamadi's - +10
Initiative modifier: Lucija's - +1; Naghamadi's - +4 (in case there's cause to roll or otherwise consider separately)
Also: I have a standardized tag-line across my characters and am not used to posting what effects are on me (I don't care for terms like "buffs," I've had my fill of MMOs), but I can fix that for you I guess. Also, I have mental health issues that occasionally inhibit my performance, so it would be nice if there were a touch of leniency in certain things. Other than that, I don't see why there should be issues. I'm involved with this pretty much every day, and I seldom have problems.

Player: PathetciWretch
Character: Insidion
PFS# 132,076-12
Faction Dark Archive
day job (intimidate from caravan): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Perception: +10
Init: +6
I've read the expectations and am good with them! :)
Thanks for running this!

You don't have to have things laid out strictly as I've put them in my profile. My only concern in that regard is transparency, so that everyone knows where everyone stands. In my experience having everything up front and center avoids misunderstandings, and I don't want to be making a mistake over a misunderstanding. Not this early in my PbP GMing. Also, if the terminology bothers you, "Active Spells" is just as good in my eyes.
With that said, I will be lenient. Thanks for letting me know!
@PatheticWretch You're very welcome.

Player Name: Yours is mined
Character Name: Eadie Navhelan
PFS #: 69095-3
Day Job: Profession (scrivener): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 (10 gp)
Perception modifier: [dice=Eadie Perception] d20+14 [/dice
Initiative modifier: [dice=Eadie Initiative] d20+3 [/dice
Hi Everyone!
I’ve been keen to play this scenario, so thanks for running it, GM Upaynao! Eadie is up-to-date and ready to roll.
What you see with Eadie is basically what you get – a vanilla 2-handed front-liner. Her player loves roleplay and co-operative tactical combat.
Oh, can anyone use a CLW wand?

![]() |

Oh, can anyone use a CLW wand?
I have a good Use Magic Device modifier (+13), but that's as much as can be said for that.
I do know infernal healing, and I can procure a wand of such real quick if people would like (would prefer we get someone better at healing, though).

![]() |

Good to know, Lucija. +13 UMD is pretty handy!
Gotta say, if Magabeus brings his staff magus, this will be a pretty strong group, with very good arcane, melee and ranged firepower. And this is before we know what the 6th player is bringing.
I agree we are a little weak in divine/healing, but maybe CLW/infernal healing wands might cover us?

![]() |

Yes - they're sending the Hellknights a pretty Chaotic group, aren't they (with a nice mixture of Good and not-quite-Evil, even)? Reminds me of a joke :E
Speaking of which, I do have an issue of concern for you, Eadie: Your listed patron deity is all the way across the board from you alignment-wise (CG versus LN), and that's actually against the rules in Pathfinder Society, even for those who don't have any truck with divine magic. It's possible you could sneak in under the "venerate as opposed to worship" clause, but that would still block you from benefiting from any Abadar-affiliated traits/feats/magic items/whatever.

![]() |

I greatly respect the rules PFS uses to ensure a uniformly excellent experience for a group of people with different backgrounds and viewpoints coming together to have fun. Lucija, your commitment to the rules is laudable and I salute you fit it! :)
She was ‘made’ to work in the Golden Vault. She hated it. She rebelled against the Faith and her Aunt. They fought like cats-and-dogs about it. Then her Aunt died in an accident. Eadie pretended to blame Abadar while deep down she blamed HERSELF.
Eadie tried running away from Abadar and her guilt by joining the Pathfinder Society. On her first mission, Eadie believes Abadar found her again. She thinks Abadar saved the life of one of her companions, and so she ‘graciously’ decided to give Him a second chance.
Does Eadie understand the tenets of the Faith? Is she truly a believer? Does Abadar think of Eadie as one of his flock? Did the dice god save her companion? Possibly … Quite possibly not.
But Eadie thinks He did and respects Him for it. So is she a pious, credit card-carrying, one-step-removed, money-hungry WORSHIPPER of the Master of the First Vault? Nope.
But does this crazy, lovable, murderous agent of Chaos maintain an unlikely but undeniable LINK with the Celestial Zillionaire of Zillionaires? I think so. And man, it’s been fun to watch it develop ;)
So in summary, thank-you Lucija for giving me the excuse opportunity to tell you all more about my character! ;)

![]() |

That's quite a story.
I wouldn't say I'm "committed to the rules" as much as I "know what they are" - it's like "society's law" vs "the laws of physics," and the rules of a game should be viewed as the latter. It was Anaximander's mistake to conflate the two in Western thought, though Einstein did a lot to cleave them apart again.

Player Name: Gerard
Character Name: Kintampo
PFS #: 24861 - 6
Slow advancement
Day Job: Borderland Keep: regain 1 PP that was spend earlier
Perception modifier: +11
Initiative modifier: +3
I have read your expectations and am ok with them. Having said that, my average posting rate in the weekends is slower that once a day. If that is an issue I will step down.
I have a wand of infernal healing and UMD +7, but can't use the wand of CLW.
I thought about bringing my swashbuckler / paladin, but decided against it as as she uses a lot of immediate actions (with parry/reposte and step up and strike I get to do something almost every round), which works a lot better at the table than in PbP.

![]() |

Have we got a sixth player yet, GM Upaynao?

![]() |

Either way we do. I just want to check in with a local player and good friend of mine GreenJacketGuy. He wanted to try PbP so I gave him a slot here. However, if he doesn't show up, I'll give the slot to SkipperD
Also: Whooo boy. The group least likely to aid Hellknights is sent to aid Hellknights. What possibly could go wrong? lmao

![]() |

"In a nutshell" nods Zarta as she sashays towards Eadie. "That shouldn't prove too difficult, especially to big, strong Pathfinder agents" she adds with a smirk, lightly tracing the contour of the fighter's armored bicep as she turns her attention to the tiefling and the promethean-flanked gnome.
*Protean* - "prometheans" are White Wolf's version of Frankenstein's monster(s).

![]() |

Either way we do.
Sounds good!
Oh, and just to let you know ... I think your avatar has something caught in its teeth ;)

![]() |

SkipperD here. Looking through the other characters, I've decided that we sorely need someone with double digits in the social skills. So...
Player name: Andreas F
Character name: Miklos Lebeda
PFS#: 35574-10
Dayjob: None
Perception: +8
Initiative: +6 (+2 when weapon is drawn)
Edit: Miklos has a UMD of +14, so he'll be of some help wand-wise.

![]() |

Welcome Miklos/Brother Desmond/Lyan!
Ay yup, someone good in a fight with social skills and a +14 UMD is a good fit :)

![]() |

At the end of this adventure, I'm going to want to retrain my Additional Traits feat into Steadfast Personality.

![]() |

Hope you get well soon!

![]() |

Unfortunately lunge doesn't work with a lot of things you would otherwise think it should.
No worries! Thanks for taking the time to explain this :)
Can we 5’ step in this country?

![]() |

He's supposed to be more of a Beetlejuice sandworm - it's just hard to find a satisfactory picture, especially in Google Draw's abridged search engine.
I've had a go at finding an image for you, Lucija.
Top right hand corner of the map.

![]() |

While I appreciate the gesture, I felt that that one looked too much like Donald Duck. :)
I found a really good fanart image - nice and sleek - quite some time ago, but no longer can.

![]() |

No worries!
I can understand not wanting to ride Donald Duck into battle. ;)
Howard the Duck might be another matter though ...

![]() |

Heads up everyone! I will be returning to class tomorrow, so expect my posting rate to not be what it was so far. That being said, keep up the good work! You guys are dynamic and have been moving at a good pace so far.

![]() |

What is it that you're doing with arcane mark, Kintampo?

![]() |

Casting it to get another attack through spellstrike ;-) Arcane mark is a touch attack, so a magus can use his weapon to deliver it. With spellcombat I get to attack AND cast a spell. If that spell is a touch attack I can use my weapon to deliver it. That effectively gives me two attacks.
I assumed I was not hasted, given that I had already gone of to help the hellknights in round 1. Otherwise a full attack with haste would be the better option.

![]() |

Pardon me, I don't understand, but this sounds important to anyone with a Magus character.
What advantage does delivering an arcane mark (as opposed to an actual offensive spell) get you? What am I missing?

![]() |

There's touch of fatigue.
Other than that, what I don't get is, what's the point of casting arcane mark on an enemy in combat?

![]() |

The orc woman spits, and takes aim at the spellcaster.[dice=Bow vs Lucija]1d20 + 10
[dice=damage]1d8+4
[dice=Bow vs Lucija]1d20 + 5
[dice=damage]1d8+4Both arrows find their mark, and the orc-woman grins.
Wait! I just remembered: Naghamadi's been providing me with a +2 bonus to armor class and saving throws (not normally factored in since he isn't always right under me), so that first shot didn't hit, and I just made that saving throw against the second explosion! 16 damage un-taken (and statistics line adjusted)!

![]() |

![]() |

Touch of fatigue is not on the magus spell list.
Whups, not sure why I thought it was.
Okay, now I get it.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You understand now why I was insistent on a stat-line that was as clear as possible :D

Just as a heads up!
Once this game is over (and you are getting close to the "denouement" if I may use the term), I plan on offering 5-23 Cairn of Shadows. This is part of a trade with GM Granta who is GMing Beyond Azlant Ridge for me, a scenario where I hope to die ignominiously.
Since you folks seem to at least tolerate my drivel to keep on posting regularly, I will let you know that I plan on having about 3-4 seats open for you folks should you be interested, leaving a seat for a person off the boards.
Message me if you are interested.

![]() |

FYI, I'm taking a weekend trip with my beautiful wife to get away from the Utah cold. I'll be back on Tuesday.
Hopefully I don't miss much with it being a weekend, but I'm unlikely to post. Please bot me as necessary!

![]() |

Where are you from, Eadie? Easy contact with people from other countries has got to be the coolest thing about the Internet, for me.
Australia - sorry, 'Strailya. Very much agree.

![]() |

By the way, thanks for all the well wishes for my day of Con-ness. I got to introduce some new people to Pathfinder in Frozen Fingers and got to make my players sweat it out with the opposition in Song of the Sea Witch.
Thunderstones. Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck.

![]() |

Ouch Eadie - that dicebot hates you more than He-Who-Peels-Flesh!
I know, right?
Not a good time for it. I am just a bit concerned for Lucija.
Hang in there for another round, L!

![]() |

I'm going to start filling out chronicle sheets since we are so close to the denoument as they say.
In the meantime, if you are still up for it here is my sign up sheet for Cairn of Shadows. Those of you who already expressed interest have been signed up with the characters you played in this game (of course you can change that, I'm just a simple man).
Pay no attention to the others I haven't finalized anything with regards to Scars of the Third Crusade and my current players + I'm Hiding in your closet have dibs on the spots in Shadow's Last stand part 2.

![]() |

Had a great time with this group.
Thanks so much for running, GM Upaynao!
And I'd love to play on your table of Cairn of Shadows

![]() |

I had a great time too. As much as Roland would like to continue with Cairn of Shadows with this group, I am slammed with classes, projects and too much going on at home. So I sadly must withdraw, GM. I appreciate the offer, and I really enjoyed this scenario...well done!
