Wait,
So the Zon-Kuthon legend was refering to undead Shadow, and not a shadow?
My understanding is that Abadar's vault has copies of the "first editions"{ of all things constructed... if not the ACTUAL first editions. So the first time someone created a sword, that sword ended up in Abadar's vault... or an exact duplicate manifested in the vault, more likely. This does not extend to creatures, nor would it extend to things that naturally occur. A shadow is not something you can build—it's either a creature or a natural thing, and as such a copy of the first shadow would NOT exist in Abadar's vault.
That said... I'm no longer the sole arbiter of how these deities work, and they've gone in directions outside of my original vision for them or how they worked in my homebrew, and that causes myself confusion as well.
My preference: there is no "first shadow" in Abadar's vault, but that does not mean that there can't be a legend or parable or whatever about the first monster shadow being captured by Abadar or whatever.
In any case, as with all myths and legends about the gods... I think the less we say in print about which ones are right and which ones are wrong is better. Let them be legends, in other words.

I remember James talking a lot about Dragon Age when it first came out.
Mighty T Rex, have you seen this Asian trailer of your kin?

That is, Abadar's vault doesn't contain the 'first sword', but instead the perfect sword. All other swords are but inferior copies of that sword.
From Inner Sea Gods:
Abadar is the master and guardian of the First Vault,
a magical trove in his realm where a perfect version of
every type of creature and object exists—a perfect sword,
a perfect deer, a perfect wheel, and even a perfect law.
Would Shelyn visit Abadar at the First Vault often to give her a bit of inspiration to depart on her artistic followers?

Caasi Vomisa wrote:Hi James, was just wanting to get your opinion of how knowing the exact latitude and longitude of a location works with trying to teleport there?Since we don't publish latitude and longitudes for locations in Golarion, I think that introducing that sort of coordinate system overcomplicates things. And even if we did publish them... knowing those coordinates wouldn't change how teleporting works, since you need more than mere number coordinates to teleport.
It's also relevant to point out that without modern technology on the level of military or professional grade GPS, you're not going to know the EXACT location of anything. even a fraction of a degree will put you miles off your target. And don't forget that third dimension of altitude, it's important.

You played the Dragon Age games. Which was your favorite Origin? And what was your preferred class and playstyle?
I only played the game once, so I only played the origin for elven rogues, and that was years and years ago, so I don't remember the gritty details.
My preferred class in the games is rogue, with a playstyle that focuses on maximizing NPC abilities and relationships and full/complete world exploration.

Well then, I guess his vault does indeed have creatures and the like.
But Shelyn wouldn't visit Abadar's vault for inspiration. "Perfect" to Abadar means a VERY different thing than "most artistic." His sense of art style and appreciation is a lot less refined than Shelyn's.

Do worshipers of demigods (demon lords, empyreal lords, etc) get access to the prestige classes in Inner Sea Gods? Also, would they have their obedience-given boons altered by prestige class?
Yes,t hey absolutely do. In time, we'll probably present those extra three categories of boons for demigods, but not quickly or all at once. If a demon lord worshiper takes demoniac class levels, that grants a slightly different set of boons than do the 3 prestige classes in Inner Sea Gods.

1) Who came up with goblin snakes?
2) What do you think of goblin snakes riding boa constrictors?
3) What's the most absurd thing you've had recently show up in one of your games?
1) Wes and I did, if I remember correctly.
2) Silly.
3) An ogre with a cage around its head with a morlock riding in the cage armed with a crossbow.

1. And the same thing applies to empyreal lords and the mystery cultist class I assume?
2. Say I have a [spellcaster] 10/evangelist 10; when the description on p.198 says "She gains all the class features for [her base class]" does that include spells per day/spells known?
3. Did I use the semicolon correctly in the last question?

1) Yes.
2) Good question. I would say yes.
3) Correctly enough for a post on the internets! (These days, I actually try to word my writing to avoid use of semicolons entirely.)

Hi again,
My question pertains to one of the Midnight Isles so I guess I'll spoiler it.
I have a PC that noticed the name so I was thinking of a kind of horror one off with abandoned slave mining camps.

Spoiler:Did I read a connection between the isle of Nahyndri and the Nahyndrian crystals? Or is it because that demon lord had gems in it's profile?

If this is the case, where does that leave a question on a "perfect" dead god corpse?
Or even a perfect god, for that matter.

Well likely never detail what's in that vault beyond what we've said already, though, mostly to preserve the mystery about it... but chances are good that the gods are exempt from being copied or represented or whatevered by the vault.

You: Good question. I would say yes.
So where's the trade-off? From the looks of things all I give up by taking the evangelist prestige class is the capstone ability, which almost never shows up in adventure paths anyway.

Mr. James Jacobs,
I brought this up in another thread but I thought I would ask you as well:
So I have this image of a world where dragons are mostly gone, banished except for a few who managed to hide to remote places.
Then suddenly they appeared in the world again. The thing is that they are not there to conquer or take revenge for their banishment. They appeared in the world screaming in terror. They were running from something.
What were they running from?
A Rovagug like entity or some awakening lovecraftian-esque elder god? That seem overdone though.

I spent seven years in a Newsroom as a reporter and an editor. The debates over colons, semicolons, possessive apostrophe, etc. were endless.
Does the Paizo Bullpen frequently do this as well as they go over copy?
Is there a designated grammar person in your office like there was in our newsroom?

James
a Mezlan (Shattered Star n° 6, pg. 90) has the following special ability:
A mezlan can assume the appearance of
any Medium or Small creature (other than creatures with
the elemental, incorporeal, or swarm subtypes—the body
assumed must be solid). The mezlan’s creature type doesn’t
change in this new form and it gains none of the mimicked
creature’s special abilities; the transformation is cosmetic
only. In these other forms, the mezlan retains all of its
normal statistics and abilities as depicted above. Though
this ability only affects the mezlan’s outward image, it is a
transmutation effect.
If it morphs into a creature that has wings and can fly, such as a medium dragon, can it also fly? Or are the wings also meant to be cosmetic only?
Thank you

If a creature like a changeling or tiefling that either has or can have a natural nail/claw attack, is a witch, and takes the nails hex, what happens? The two possibilities I see are the sane option of it buffing the damage of the nails/claws to 1d6, 1d8 or 2d4 and the awesomer option of have two sets of nails on each hand. It would certainly freak out most opponents.

Hello,
RE: Tieflings - Rakshasa-Spawn (Beastbrood)
In Blood of Fiends(p. 23) Beastbrood are listed as having both the "Bent
Body" and "Tough Skin" racial traits. Which of the "standard" Tiefling racial traits (e.g. Fiendish Sorcery, Fiendish Resistance) do these traits replace?Danke
They don't replace anything. They're character race traits (see Advanced Player's Guide, page 326), not racial traits.

The trade off is that you're 1 caster level behind, and had to focus your character in specific ways to get into that class. If you (or your GM) thinks that's too much, then by all means rule otherwise.

We don't have one dedicated grammar person as far as I know... the editors do enjoy getting in those kinds of debates though.

You take the better of the two options and the lesser of the two is, essentially, wasted.
