So since he's a lot smaller than the original Gwangi, instead of a valley doe he live in a culvert?
So now you can make a Cowboy and Dinosaurs movie... The Shelf of Gwangi!

Archpaladin Zousha wrote:Ahem...okay. Now that that bit of fanboying's out of the way, how would Arcanists have been treated in Thassilon? From what I've gathered, Thassilonians were pretty snobby about how arcane spellcasters practiced their art, pioneering the concept of school specialization, and wizards and only wizards being allowed the highest status, with casters like sorcerers and such being treated with disdain. In a previous question I asked of this nature, you mentioned that only a Thassilonian Specialist wizard would even be allowed for consideration as a Runelord, something not really achievable even by a Specialist Wizard who ISN'T a Thassilonian Specialist who claims the previous runelord's weapon of office prior to the events of Rise of the Runelords, after which knowledge of the Thassilonian Schools are resurrected and slowly begin to spread. Would Arcanists, with their school focus stuff, have had a similar status to wizards? Or would a Thassilonian Arcanist NEVER ascend to Runelord status?Thassilon is all about wizards. Particularly a specific kind of specialist wizard. Sorcerers existed but were pretty rare. I suspect arcanists were 100% unknown in Thassilon.
In order to be a runelord, you need to be a specialist wizard in one of the 7 Thassilonian schools. That limits you to wizard.
Figured. Thanks for confirming it! Another question: Were there non-human runelords? I know part of Xin's founding philosophy that got him kicked out of Azlant was that non-human races still could teach the Azlanti things and had value or something. On the other hand, the Runelords of Envy were enemies of the elves of that forest in northwest Varisia (I forget it's name).
Were there halflings in Thassilon? With most of the other races we've got direct references to where they entered the world stage (dwarves and orcs with the Quest for Sky, gnomes coming in from the First World and elves/drow and their sordid history), but halflings are conspicuously absent. When did halflings first become a substantial population in the Inner Sea Region? And what place did they have in pre-and-post-Earthfall dominions? They just seem...kinda...there.

We haven't yet reavealed any non-human runelords, but neither have we revealed all the runelords who ever were.
I'm pretty sure there were no halflings in Thassilon.

Dear James Jacob,
Are you, overall, as a creative director, very pleased with the state of Golarion as it is published now ? What are, to your opinion (if you can share that with us), the parts which could be greatly improved ?
Anyway, thank you for your and your co-workers' world !
I'm quite pleased with where Golarion is now!
I think that the parts that could be improved are the areas we haven't said much about yet. We'll get to them eventually.
And thanks!

Did you like the Flashbacks for Altair in Revelations?
Did you think it was weird to play a Flashback in a Flashback of sorts?
What was your opinion of Connor?
Did you enjoy getting to play as Desmond being all Assassin in AC3?
I did.
I did not.
Connor is ... okay. Not nearly as interesting as Enzio, and a big reason why switching to a female character would help.
Yup!

Nope

It's actually based off a web poll, so it's people thinking Justin Beiber is a woman, or qualifies as one.

You: Demon lords are not dumb brutes. I would have assumed the fact that I gave them high INT scores would make that clear. Chaotic evil DOES NOT equal brutish and dumb. Nor does 18 Int equal stupid.
1. Int 18-24 may be high compared to mortals but not to other demigods; that's why I feel the given intelligence of the empyreal lords was low, and why I used "dumb brute" as a shorthand for three particular demon lords. Don't you think a demigod should be way smarter than a 4th level expert?
2. What shorthand should I use for demigods at the lower end on the mental stats spectrum?
You: The fact that [demon lords] have a similar suite of spell-like abilities and skills helps make them feel of a kind.
3. What sort of suite would you recommend for empyreal lords? What demon lords have seem applicable to other demigods.
4. When my response comments are smaller, would it be best if I reply sooner or does it not matter?
Me: How do you feel about people making unofficial changes to monsters and publishing them for free?
You: That's the whole point of the open gaming movement.
Thanks for the go-ahead! :)

1) On average, yes. But not always.
2) Why do you need a shorthand? You could have a demigod with no intelligence at all, or a Charisma or Wisdom of 1, just as with any creature.
3) Personally I'd aim for higher mental scores for most demigods.
4) Doesn't matter.

I prefer to think the best of people, and will assume it's a misunderstanding. Nowhere does it actually say he's being insulted.

You mentioned in another thread that Paizo NPCs in APs are always built by the book.
How would you handle an NPC in an AP that didn't fit into the rules - for example a character who qualified for an insanely high skill score but needed to be low-level for everything else? Or a character whose concept requires them to have a feat they don't technically qualify for?

They're great fun, but I'm ready for them to do a full game with a female protagonist. Haven't started ACIV yet. I'm kinda waiting to play it on a next-gen console. They're doing an updated HD version of Liberation, which had a black female protagonist, I don't know if that means consoles though...
Who was your favorite character of the previous games?
As far as I know, Liberation isn't available on consoles—AKA any system I can run.
My favorite protagonist is hands down Enzio.
Liberation's HD remake is, according to Wikipedia, TV Tropes and everywhere else I've checked, coming out on PC, PS3 and XBox 360.
Also, there's no N in Ezio's name, it's just pronounced like there's one there.
Where and when do you think the next AC title should be set? I've been hoping for the French Revolution since before 3 was announced.

For instance, could a character summon up a celestial/fiendish creature and have it reveal secrets of the real creatures plane of origin?

It's not that I'm offended for Justin Beiber.
It's that the idea that calling someone a woman is intended to be an insult is what I find offensive. It's misogynistic.

By making an exception and stating the NPC up as the story requires and giving them an ad-hoc CR adjustment as needed.

No. A summoned creature doesn't exist before and after the spell that summoned it starts and ends. It'd have a strange sort of amnesia. It could answer questions using its skills, but wouldn't really have much in the way of a personal history to share at all. You need a calling spell to get that type of character.

Yes.
Doesn't mean the blog is going live today. Might not go live next week; it's a short week and the web team is INSANELY busy.
But it's written.
Needs an editing pass and then needs to jump through several out-of-my-hands hoops to get from there to the blog.
