I am just heading to bed, but will e-mail people tomorrow. I am glad that the thread is still going.

I still have that adventure! I played it back in the early to mid 1980's. It would be fun to run it again. I still game with one of the players from that group (my brother). Can I please have the update?

Well, there was discussion of this on the early part of the thread in terms of the copyright laws with d20pfsrd.com. It seems that my sending something to an individual is okay, but having it on a site is not.

I wouldn't mind having it :)

I am planning to set the adventure in Golarion, specifically in Lastwall in or near the Fangwood. The Keep and a small surrounding village with farmland, is a stop on a road that goes through the wood and ultimately towards the border with the Hold of Belkzen. The humanoids in the Caves are being directed by the followers of Lamashtu to destabilize the region and weaken Lastwall. Does this scenario sound reasonable? Lastwall would obviously take any humanoid incursions seriously. However, I would imagine that they would not send armed forces everywhere for all problems -- hence the need for adventures. Does this scenario sound reasonable?

This is actually brilliant, in the original adventure, all the monsters and cultists of "Generic Evil God" are kind of just haphazardly placed with minotaur living next door to orcs, goblins and kobolds, And the aforementioned "Chaotic" Cult" now you added an actual cohesive reason for them to be there. That's great! You took a "Classic Adventure" and made it better

Thanks for the compliment! In looking at the adventure, I tried to figure who would be a good diety for the temple complex and realized Lamashtu would be attractive to the monsters there. Also, the cult would have no problem about wanting to weaken Lastwall.

Click Show next to 'How to format your text' right below the reply box you type in. It will display the various formatting options you have available.

The option you are looking for is:

No spaces between the brackets and 'spoiler'. Without them, the above code will appear as:

When you get a chance I would like a copy as well. I am planing on adding it to a game I am running with some gamers that I know went through the caves of chaos as kids. I want to see how long it takes them to figure out where they are. :)

Wow, How have I missed this thread all this time?!? ;P

(Sorry if the following comments have already been mentioned in the previous 10 pages) ;)

I loved the original Keep on the borderlands. Not because it was such a great module per se', (the old ones were pretty dry) but because my original College game group had such fun with it. I think I ran it twice. :)

What I did like personally was the RETURN to the Keep on the Borderlands. It added a LOT of stuff to the way modules were written that we now take pretty much for granted. How the different groups in the caves and areas all interacted, cooperated or competed. And added several 'random/outside' encounters with lots of story driven elements that tied in nicely with the rest.

I'm exited to see how your project comes out.

Carry on! :)

Could I get a copy please? :)

Wow, so many recent requests for this conversion. Please send it my way as well:

KotB fits nicely into the hexcrawl that I'm building to introduce my gaming group to PF. We're currently in the final stretch of a 70+ session 2e Temple of Elemental Evil campaign.

Glad to help. I tied this into the country of Lastwall in the Golarion Campaign Setting.

4saken1, I have no plan to stop distributing this.

I am also interested but I am wondering about how or if you are/were able to maintain the grittiness it has in the original edition.

Let me offer my apologies for not getting back to the thread lately. I do plan to send out copies this weekend.

Insnare, one thing that I tried to do with keeping things gritty was to make sure that the guards were definitely not as tough as a typical PC. I also threw in the cult of Lamashtu as a unifying force for the Caves of Chaos and altered one of the final encounters to reflect the presence of the cult.

Spoiler:
I replaced the medusa with a troll, who like some in Kaer Maga, reads the future from his own entrails.
In retrospect, there are some things I would likely change if I was doing the conversion again -- as I am a lot more familiar with Pathfinder than I was when I did the original conversion.

I wouldn't mind taking a look at your conversion, if you were still sending out copies.
