Pathfinder Society

Liberty's Edge 4/5

Have these been done yet? Are there any Pathfinder books out right now that can be used in addition to the 3.5 PHB?

thanks

Mike

As of today, my son and I are signed up for Pathfinder #1 thru #4 adventures at Gen Con Indy.

I'm assuming there will be some more information forthcoming regarding character creation. I can't imagine we'll be expected to spend time creating them during the first event.

My son and I are signed up for all 5 Pathfinder Society events at Gencon. We are definitely looking forward to it and can't wait to get our hands on the character creation rules.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I just signed up for #1 and #3. I'm hoping to get the other modules later.

Grand Lodge 3/5

I got 1-4 plus the seminar. Looking forward to the games.

Bump

I interested in this issue too. I'm assuming we aren't playing pre-gens but don't know where to find the rules for generating my own character.
Is everyone starting at first level?
Is it possible to advance to 2nd within the four mods or are more expected to be needed?

Any help out there?

We're still working on the PC creation rules, but we will be publishing them ahead of time. Stay tuned!

My goal is to have them ready by August 1 at the latest so that everyone coming to Gen Con can have their characters ready before they start playing.

I'm hoping, should we be using the point buy system, that we get 28-32 points. My poor Bard is going to have a rough time of it if its any less...

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

Can we have a list of what sources are able to be used before Aug 1 so we have more time working on a concept? I'm fine if it's simply the core 3 books, but if more is allowed, I might look at other options.

May I suggest for PFS character generation assigning characters elite array or something similar? That would make things much simpler IMO.

I've been thinking about this because of the point-buy thread in the PRPG board

So, I just read over the rules document and I didn't see anything that explicitly stated what resources could be used (other than the reference to using the Campaign Setting for additional items). Are the various feats/prestige classes in there also usable or no?

3.5 core rules only and the few items we mentioned in the guide book.

That's it for now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is this D&D 3.5?
The sample Dwarf looks 3.5, but that seems counter productive.
If you folks are launching your new PFRPG, then why aren't we all using the Pathfinder rules exactly? Someone official let me know what is up with this, please, as I was really looking forward to playing the PFRPG, not 3.5. I though we were all working towards the future of this little project and all...

Well, I'm not official, but I can answer that I think. They've said before that the Pathfinder Society won't be switching over to the PFRPG until it's Season 1 in 2009, when the final version of the PFRPG is released. This being Season 0, they're going to be using straightforward 3.5 until then. :)

I know you said offical, but here we go. The Pathfinder RPG rules aren't going to be ready until 2009. So until than Paizo is using 3.5 rules.

One thing at a time. No point in running an OP system off rules that are in beta. It gets incredibly frustrating for players when things change multiple times throughout the season to match rules fluctuations. We'd rather change them once, in August 2009.

Thanks for the answers guys. Well, dammit. I signed up for PF Society games at Gencon (mistakenly ) thinking that they were for the PFRPG.
I'll still have a great time, but I was jazzed to get to try out the new rules in an 'official' game. No biggie, though...

Yeah; the Beta RPG rules are still in Beta, and will be until Gen Con 2009. That means the rules are still in flux and changing: the game's still quite far from being done.

We didn't want to force everyone to remake their characters every few weeks or months or whatever whenever we made an adjustment to the Beta, so Season 0 uses the 3.5 rules as a result.

You can try out the new rules in the Paizo booth by running our dungeon delve. :-)

That is, if you survive long enough to try them out ...

Ha! It'll take more than a few suped-up new-and-improved monsters to take ...Er, where would my character be from if I was going for a Spanish/French duelist?

-Uriel

Taldor strikes me as the right place for a "Spanish/French duellist". If there is a sinister backstory to the character, maybe Cheliax could be used.
