well, I can prep 04-16, which just came out last week... It's a 3-6 nonrepeatable (Dacilane Academy's 1st Prank War). It will be clumsy though (which is par for the course on my first run)...
01-14 -- since I've started prepping it but got sidetracked...
Hey now, I've claimed that one for my next run! :) And yes, I am deep in field season until we get to October and can't GM until then. And once that time comes I was all about those goblins!
Sorry, field season. I'm a biologist and my field season is the summer season when I'm outside collecting data/doing work. The other 6 months or so I'm in the office much more and less busy.
I do lots of gardening though on my free time at home.
Yes, it is not sustainable. Once every 10 games would be sustainable since players would gain enough ACP from those games to get a replay.
We need to do more repeatable content with this group and plan for what new content the group will do so that people can plan for if they will be using replays.
Short of the newer scenarios, repeatables that we haven't played yet:
01-23 (Star-Crossed Court): 3-6
02-06 (The Crashing Wave): 3-6
05-01 (Intro: Year of Unfettered Exploration): 1-4
03-13 (Guardian's Covenant): 3-6
01-14 (Lions of Katapesh): 1-4
01-10 (Tarnbreaker's Trail): 1-4
01-06 (Lost on the Spirit Road): 1-4
03-01 (Intro: Year of Shattered Sanctuaries): 1-4 (just for completeness; I think we agreed to skip this one)
Assuming we get that far:
04-07 (Most Wondrous Exchange): 5-8
No idea what the repeatable is for Season 5 (other than 05-01).
Make sure everyone is involved in making decisions. I think many of us have already played or GM'd this so may as well just go for it. I played it back when 2nd edition was in year 1 so its been a while at least.

Gang, it is time for us all to update the PFS Session Tracker. I realize that I myself have to do this, but let's take the guesswork out of scenario choices.

The tool is available. Let's use it.
Hmm
I actually just checked mine to make sure it's updated. We'll probably need to make an editable document/list with a tentative roadmap of what we'll play and when (and possibly who will be running what) - it's what I had to do for my long-running PFS1 group. It can be adjusted as needed to account for new repeatables and such coming out.
Because I still sometimes get my PF1 and PF2 rules confused. I was also considering that being prone meant flat-footed which makes it easier to be crit in the first place.
Yeah, that is a very good reason.
At least you aren’t getting the Starfinder rules mixed in there. :)
I am actively running all three systems. It means I get to look up spells more often than other GMs may have to and need to try and keep the different rules separate in my head. In some cases, they just don’t seem to fit. :)
In light of today's announcement I find this exchange hilarious. I briefly dabbled in Starfinder way back in the first year or two but quickly opted to drop it for Pathfinder 2E since I didn't want to juggle three different rule systems and I generally prefer fantasy over sci-fi. But I guess now maybe I should be planning to actually play (and *gasp* even GM!?) some Starfinder in the not-too-distant future? :)
So I've made a group on PFS Sessiontracker and I've got everyone added to it so far but Stitch and Nicole. You can find it as 'Longroads Coffeehouse 2.0' :)
I think I'm the only one that can actually edit the group but thanks, I'll get them added too!
______________
Different subject but how do you guys decide on making a new character? Do you just wait for inspiration to hit? Decide that you want to play a specific class or ancestry/heritage and go from there?
I'm in sort of an in-between spot of getting the creative urge to make some more characters but I'm also trying to be a lot more circumspect about the characters I *do* make. I'd rather have 10 beloved characters that get to have a proper adventuring career over 20+ characters with half of them only making it to 2nd/3rd level (which is what happened with PFS1e).
Complicating things is that I've got a fair bit of AcP I can spend but I obviously want to be choosy about how I spend them. And then there's the class spread! Analysis paralysis, argh!

Why I'm constantly making new characters
So in my case I kept making characters so that I can apply GM credit, or so that I could have someone to play through things like the Beginner Box or Pathfinder Trials that were level one only.
That said, I have a good feeling for everyone of my PF2 characters except Dr. Croaker. I am still trying to figure the little grippli out.

Starting with ABC
As for making new characters, I have so many different starting points. Class, Background and Ancestry can be a starting place. Clover got started because of her background, and because I unlocked a Phoenix Sorcerer. I seem to love the small races, so I often think about the question of what I can do with various small races for characters.
I had to tell myself to stop making bards, because I freaking love bards! Fortunately, the thaumaturge came along, and that provided me the melee 'bard' I've always wanted. I also love investigators because they are such fun skill monkeys.
★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★
Starting with Lore, Setting and Story
For most of my characters, I usually start with a couple of pieces of lore that I love and try to build a character from that. So Bitty Blue is a sylph gnome built off the concept that sylphs from the mangi expanse tend to be descended from cloud dragons. So I made a slightly awkward, dinosaur-obsessed quarter dragon sylph rogue whose grandparents were a gnome and a cloud dragon that fell in love.
With Tess of Tosof, I decided that the morrigna parole officer to misbehaving immortals that I wrote into Lost Omens Legends had created a duskwalker daughter that she had basically dropped in Geb and left to see what would happen. An ancestor oracle seemed the best way to describe a duskwater who's been cobbled together from multiple souls.
With Jinglemane, I had wanted to build a poppet, and the thaumaturge offered me a class that I thought could serve the poppet well. I co-created Jinglemane with Bret, as his character Kit was the geniekin that wished Jinglemane alive. Jinglemane is a bit like Tigger out of Winnie-the-Pooh, if Tigger were also a compulsive babysitter who loved taking care of children but might have irresponsible ideas about helping kids sneak out of bed to go on adventures.
The lore and the setting kind of nurture the character seeds for me, but I also pick my core mechanics for the character early on. Then I mix the two up and see what sort of story and character fall out.

I don't know how to join that group for the tracker but here is mine: PFS Tracker.

Okay, let's reserve scenarios for ourselves. Here are my suggestions:
2-23 Agent's Obligation
4-08 Battle for Star's Fate (Note: this is the 2nd part of a two parter, and Bret has another character looking to do it.)
5-01 Year of Unfettered Exploration
5-02 Blackwood Lost
5-04 Equal Exchanges
I am vetoing the 4-16 The Dacilane Academy's First Great Prank War as Bret and I plan to play it with Jinglemane and Kit (both Level 4). However... we could be talked into playing Jinglemane and Kit in it with this group if the group wants to play it.

Ok with me -- when I run a scenario for the first time I'm usually very clumsy so the experience won't be as good. So I'm good with the veto.
04-08 - I'm waiting to play it with you and Bret, actually. Isn't that the 2nd part of the one we played with Farol?
Different subject but how do you guys decide on making a new character? Do you just wait for inspiration to hit? Decide that you want to play a specific class or ancestry/heritage and go from there?
My roster should give a hint, but for me it is usually ancestry first. I avoid repeating the same ancestry. After that my method varies. Name is often the last thing I figure out, but there are exceptions.
So far in PF2, I have:
Salliss
, my elfiest half-elf there is. Rogue with wizard dedication because all elves do magic. Many of his feats are chosen to prevent him from ever being flat footed. As he grew, I decided he was a follower of Ketephys.
Gurmire
, my goblin bomber alchemist arson investigator who was created as a way to take your typical goblin pyromaniac and make them into a character that society wouldn’t mind. He was made before there was an investigator class, but works quite well. Recently broke the whole group into laughter as he did exactly what he said in character introductions that he does.
Kavin Berger
, my human enigma bard who was created with the idea of a bartender that heard all the adventurer stories and decided as part of a mid-life crisis to become a pathfinder and see the world. If you have seen the TV show Cheers, think Cliff. Has an answer to everything, it is often wrong. He tends to like to mix it up in battle and went Horizon Hunters because of that whole see the world thing.
Peri Badgerbrow
, my gnome champion (liberator) of Ranginori. She is the young niece of my PF1 sorcerer and grew up on the stories as told by one of my biggest liers. Worships Ranginori because that is the god that the society rescued.
Brekovi
, my ysoki wizard marks when I could finally afford the ancestry. I like wizards and ysoki. Pretty standard universalist wizard other than his main skills are Arcana and Survival. Grew up in the Thuvian desert. A lot of his backstory got filled in during a PbP adventure. It was events there that caused his second skill to be Survival.
Ulmuk
, my dwarven gymnast swashbuckler who is a stonemason. Wanted to build a dwarf that wasn’t quite what people think of but still is very much a dwarf.
Hercule Purroit
, my Catfolk investigator who came about from the ancestry and a pun on the name. Charisma based investigator, very sociable. Rewatched the BBC production of ABC Murders with John Malkovich but imagine him being more a Catfolk version of Albert Finley. Attempts to stay immaculate, waxes his whiskers, has the bowler hat.
Vardarel
, this character, was made as a cleric of Ketephys when I heard about Blessing of the Forest. Salliss was too high level for that adventure and I wanted to do something with that plot. He was created from a GM blob.
Scary Gourd
, my leshy druid with a cat named Entropy. They came from playing Blooming Catastrophe and thinking about what to do with a leshy. They were created before Vardarel. Lady Ladile knows this character. :) Nature and Intimidate are his skills. Actually has a charisma to support the intimidate. Got mistaken for the villain in a certain quest until it was clarified that the villain was much taller.
KaLang
, my hobgoblin magus. I wanted to do a magus and looked for an ancestry that would fit that. My version of ‘fit’ was a soldier that saw his nation defeated by magic so my character decided he should investigate the uses of ‘elf magic’ in warfare. Arcana and Crafting with intention to try some magical crafting. Not sure how well that will work.
Tarcog
, my kobold dragon summoner with a dragon eidolon. Kobold looked like fun and I decided to double-down on the whole dragon thing. Picked a bronze Dragonscaled and decided his eidolon would also be a bronze dragon. His background is as a sewer dragon and his skills are crafting and athletics. The athletics is so he can eventually be a great swimmer.
Branch Barker
, my shoony wizard. Another universalist wizard, but his skills will be Athletics (for swimming) and Arcana. Looking through backgrounds, I couldn’t pass up ‘Once Bitten’ for the character. I knew he was going to use a staff and like water magics.
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq (aka Kit)
is my human sylph cloistered cleric of Ranginori from Sedeq who as a young girl wished alive her friend Jinglemane. She is a medic with the back-alley doctor background representing how she was willing to not ask questions of the patients she treated. Being from where she is, should she ever be officially recognized as a Sylph that would affect her citizenship so that is a sore subject with her.
The rest of my characters are GM blobs. One of them will likely to be another paired build with Hilary where I am the draxie ‘familiar’ of her character. Was going to use Sprite’s Spark and go monk, but decided that the damage just wasn’t there.
I tend to try a variety of classes but want an idea for what is important to the character. Get a few ideas of that, then create something that I think would be interesting to play. I do like to have skills so wizard, rogue and investigator are always of interest to me.
Specific to PF2 I have taken to also choosing which two skills will go above trained proficiency since that has a big effect on what the character can do. Most of the character’s life they will only have two skills at better than trained, so picking them helps define the character for me.
04-08 - I'm waiting to play it with you and Bret, actually. Isn't that the 2nd part of the one we played with Farol?
Yes, that is the follow on to 4-04 To Seek the Heart of Calamity that Tess and Brekovi played with your character Meadow, Farol was the GM.
I hadn’t realized you were waiting to play it with us.
I would gladly play alongside Meadow (or GM for her again). It is Brekovi that wants to finish out the adventure because it is in Thuvia. I’m not sure if Tess will have time with her wanting to fight undead. :)
