Thanks! I find the Ptolus miniatures to really participate to the pleasure of painting: in most cases, you either have nice volumes and pieces of details to work with (like say, Shibata the minotaur priest shown on the pic), hence good contrasts, or you have shapes very engaging for the imagination (like the chaos cultist there - I like the shape of the robe and hood particularly).
And all these guys are available here on Paizo's store for purchase! (hint, hint, wink)

One thing that would help to prove there's an audience for this (despite the impressive showing in this thread) would be to buy a bunch of our Ptolus miniatures. They could use the help. :)

I'd love to buy some of those Ptolus miniatures from you guys :-) International shipping is an issue for me, though - it's a bit too high for me at the moment ($20 shipping for Complete Champion - ouch!) I understand that the shipping costs are being reworked at the moment, though, so hopefully they'll be a little closer to my budget.

Eric,
Please do not take this the wrong way. I dont mean to gripe. You know I think you guys are great, but while I would be in for Ptolus material (just bought the book), I dont use minatures and dont intend too. I dont buy any of any type so my lack of Ptolus mini's purchases can not be taken as a guide to whether I would buy Ptolus modules.
That said, if anyone uses them, buy some so this might happen!

Count my vote for supporting any Ptolus products. I already have some of the minis, and I purchased them through this site w/o even being aware of this thread. I also plan on buying the ful set, just waiting on a paycheck from a new employer (I start on the 21st of May)
Some new Ptolus modules would be awesome.

I fundamentally agree. I was surprised just as anyone else I guess that the appeal of Ptolus modules could be evaluated with the appeal of miniatures.
These are two completely different beasts that would sell completely differently from each other, and I am sure, no, make it "Certain", that Ptolus modules would sell amazingly well IF they were including some "scaling" squares or annexes explaining how to adapt this or that module to any urban environment and/or ANY environment (which is perfectly feasible I think, given the types of typical Ptolus adventures I run).

Eric and company,
Count me in as someone willing to SUBSCRIBE to a series of Ptolus modules.
Something like your Game Mastery modules or even better, including them in Pathfinder (assuming you're not limited by some sort of agreement with WoTC on the matter).
I might or might not be ordering the minis (have tons of pre-painted ones and I am lousy at painting), although if I do order some Ptolus minis I might also hire a friend to paint them.
Thanks,
Jim R.

Now, here's a picture of various painted Paizo miniatures, including Game Mastery and Ptolus minis, as a treat for the eyes:
Oh, *noice* work!! That Minotaur Priest is giving me an idea...or three... Great, now I'll be having to add *him* to my upcoming order of item-packs and maps... And now I looked at the pics and WOW! Some of those will work for stuff I run already!
I'm dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed.....
(but in a really good, gaming way)

Yeah, I'm a little late to this party, but I too would be very interested in some Ptolus mods or a Ptolus adventure path published by Paizo.
I picked up three of the ptolus minis from the FLGS. I've only gotten around to painting the Viridian Lord, but the minotaur priest and litorian warrior are are primed.

Hey y'all:
Right now we don't have any plans for Ptolus modules, though that could change. Right now, we are just trying to keep our heads above water doing two jobs at once: finishing off the magazine run and getting the modules and Pathfinder ready to take their place. I will make sure this is thrown out when we start talking about 2008, though no promises. :)

Given that it's a year later now from when this thread started, Paizo seems on very firm footing with the launch of all the various Pathfinder products.
So I was wondering if having Monte on board for the Pathfinder RPG might lead to revisiting the topic of Paizo working on some Ptolus modules (or other material)?
I just Lulu.com'd his two Book of Experimential Might books (was exciting to have new Monte content), so any Paizo-Malhavoc collaboration around Ptolus would be very welcome & met with equal (or higher!) interest!!

Whoops, guess I missed this thread when it popped up last year.
I'll chime in for what it's worth and say I would love me some Ptolus modules! (Or even any other Ptolus support)
I'd love to see Ptolus modules by Paizo, too! (... and would buy them!)
Btw. the reason for me not buying the Ptolus miniatures was... a lack of suitable modules... <hint>
Another btw.: If Monte agreed, couldn't you integrate Ptolus in Golarion? There's certainly a place at the Inner Sea that could feature Ptolus... maybe another mini nation separated from Taldor? Maybe nestled in between Taldor and Cheliax?
The setting would fit in quite well in Golarion - and the main deity could be called by a different name: Aroden. ;-)
Looking forward to news on this customer request!
Günther

Sakkara |

I hadn't thought about integrating Ptolus into Golarion before -- that's a good idea.
Even if Paizo / Malhavoc doesn't officially collaborate on Ptolus products (& my hope is they will!), either Paizo and/or Malhavoc could do a web article / sidebar-type treatment on the topic of integrating Ptolus into Golarion for casual use.

Sakkara |

I was trying to make room on my shelves for the Paizo products I've been buying for the last year, and just keeping on a pile on my desk.
The idea that others have been floating about placing Ptolus into Golarion is intriguing, as we are starting a new campaign soon.
It would still be nice from someone from Paizo to comment on the viability of Ptolus modules via a partnership/licensing from Monte/Malhavoc, now that everyone is back from GenCon.
-Sakkara

Sakkara |

Now that GenCon has come and gone, and the Labor Day holiday has ended, I assume that all the Paizoites have returned to their cages.
It would be cool if someone from Paizo could comment on the viability of Ptolus modules via a partnership/licensing from Monte/Malhavoc.
It seems like a year ago when this thread started, getting Pathfinder established and successful was the priority, which sure seems to have happened.
Is there any chance that Paizo would pursue a partnership with Monte/Malhavoc in regards to Ptolus modules and/or other material?
It sure seems like people are interested in buying material if produced, I know I sure would buy them.
James? Erik? Lisa?
Thanks,
Sakkara

Egocentrix |

Yes, I would be in too for that kind of juicy stuff. A Pathfinder/Ptolus module from Paizo + online Add-on for adaptation of the Spire setting in Golarion !
I personally own all Ptolus books from Malhavoc and part of the publications of third parties. An I enjoy it much.
Go for it people of Paizo and Monte (please) !

Hi Egocentrix,
so there are already 3rd party supplements for Ptolus?
Didn't realize that so far...
Would you mind to elaborate?
Thanks!
Günther
P.S.
Whatever other products might be already on the market: I am interested in "official" recommendations on where to implement Ptolus in Golarion - and of course in Ptolus modules by Paizo! :-)

![]() |

I love Ptolus, but the Ptolus cosmology is crucial to my Ptolus campaign, and it really isn't compatible with Golarion.
I suspect at some point down the road I'll use elements of Ptolus to fill in gaps in Absalom or some other city.
Geographically and politically, I'd probably drop Ptolus into Molthune somewhere.

Adventure wise you want to be looking at various things Monte has done.
Black Rain on the WOTC website
Queen of Lies
Beyond the Veil
Skeleton Key Games have done some cracking maps for the city and adventures
More tie ins here - http://www.ptolus.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi?mpress_Ptolus_partners but that's not everything.

Sakkara |

It seems like several us of keep posting on this intermittently, in the hopes that someone from the Paizo camp will comment.
James? Erik? Lisa? (Monte?)

It sure seems like a lot of people are interested in buying material if it were produced, I know I sure would buy them. I know the comment was made about the figures being tied to a product line (in terms of gauging interest on it). I am not interested in the figures, but would most likely buy any module/supplement produced. I have all the Ptolus materials (books & maps -- even bought the vinyl wall map).
It would sure be cool if someone from Paizo could comment on the viability of Ptolus modules via a partnership/licensing from Monte/Malhavoc. Then I could quit bugging eveyone by bumping the thread back up every few months. :)

I am interested in Ptolus but never got the Monte Cook original book. Now it costs $80+ to grab on ebay
What are you waiting for? The book originally cost more than that, and is well worth it.
I suspect that we fans of Ptolus would have better luck starting a site for campaign materials and maintaining it, much the same way Cannonfire! maintains Greyhawk lore.

I don't see any reason to support a dead world. The book was published and there seems no intention of reprinting it. I've wanted to get my hands on one but doesn't seem it's in the cards heh.
I doubt from a business perspective it makes any sense to publish materials for Ptolus.
I disagree. Ptolus is a finished product which is awesome in itself. You can play a lifetime in this city, without ever leaving it. The possibility of setting Ptolus in another campaign setting (like Golarion, Eberron, or the others) is giving this product an unbelievable huge range of usage in any campaign!
New sourcebooks are not really neccessary (it's all in there, already), but adventures are! Having a bunch of modules set in Ptolus would be awesome, and a good buy for anyone, having the book or not.more to come...

![]() |

Ptolus is anything but a dead world! Its just that it's no longer availale in print, but every single chapter can be bought at Drivethrurpg or rpgnow.
Ptolus modules will not stay long in a Paizo warehouse, I am so sure of that!
PS A merry christmas to all posters and everyone (really everyone) at Paizo! ;)

I know it's not the same thing...but you could get the PDFs. They're searchable...
Oh, and I would buy anything Ptolus Paizo publishes.
