Look at this beautiful cover. I'm in love with it.
And as a dragon lover myself, I can't deny the magical dragons (the ones previously know as true dragons) are the monsters I'm looking forward the most.
And there are eight brand new dragons in this one. I'm really curious about how the Cinder dragon will be different enough from the iconic Red Dragon. I really liked what we got for the Horned Dragon. It feels distinct enough from the Green, but we can still recognize some traits from their previous incarnation, specially the Pathfinder take in their more disciplined personalities.

So I'm just getting into PF, and I'm trying to make sure I don't buy things that are redundant.
Is the monster core 2 the ORC equivalent of the Bestiary 2? And if so, should I hold off on buying Bestiary 3 and 4 in the hopes that monster cores 3 and 4 will be released?
I want stuff in the ORC "ruleset" (yes, I know they're compatible) rather than the OGL one when I can. Should I hold off on buying rulebooks unless they're ORC?
More or less: are all the OGL books soft confirmed to eventually be released as ORC books?

Monster Core took the most iconic creatures from Bestiary 1-3 and put them in one book and Remastered them. Monster Core 2 takes the next most iconic set of creatures from those 3 books and Remaster them as well.
Not sure how many more creatures will be left amongst the 3 books that might necessitate a 3rd Monster Core book. It's possible, but we'll have to wait and see.
(Also, PF2E only had Bestiary 1-3, not a 4th one. PF1E had Bestiary 1-6, for the record).

Ah, sweet! I didn't realize about the "reorganizing" coming from all 3 books (thought there were 4!). I figured it was just an update of the first one. Good to know. Thank you!

To add to that post, the first monster core also had mix of new monsters in it(some completely new and some which were replacements for monsters removed along with OGL) and seems like this will be the same, so its mix of remastering old monsters and new.
Yes, and we talked about this more in our Creature Feature Panel during PaizoCon Day 3! It's on Twitch right now, but it will be on YouTube soon as well!

Really hoping there are actual replacements for the other colors as well. The only (evil) one we got a replacement for in Monster Core 1 was the green dragon.

Cinder (ex-red), Bog (ex-black), Rime (ex-white) have all been confirmed. Then there's also have been Mocking (ex-copper) that have been confirmed for new designs inspired by the metalics. The "ex-chromatics" have been pretty "faithful" and focusing on their physical aspects, while the ex-metalics have apparently been mostly based on their personalities, but turned to 11 (at least for Mocking). We don't know how many of these are in this, but if they are not in there, then they should be in teh Lost Omen Draconic Codex.

CosmicIronyMagnet wrote:Will Monster Core 2 also have a Pawn box?No news on this yet! Is this something you'd look forward to?
As a GM on a time and money budget, I made the decision to invest in pawns over miniatures because they give me more flexibility and range in my storytelling.
I love all of the creatures that Paizo puts out but there's nothing worse than having a carefully crafted battlefield using a beautiful flip mat, a great setup for a story, the players seeing a number of small and medium enemies ready to charge them, and then putting down a large pawn representing the big villain in the fight and saying, "I know this says "<some name>" on the pawn but what you really see is "<what I wanted the monster to be>". With the new dragons coming out, I want to be able to have a pawn of the Barrage Dragon and not have to find an older pawn of a diabolic dragon and say - "kind of like that but imagine there are cannons sticking out of the body like on this picture here."

So what are some monsters that you hope to see in this from the previous Bestiaries or even a 2e version of something from 1e.
Personally I'm happy to see any Fiend and Celestaial creatures, both old and new.
Really want to see the Empyrean Angel.
And the Vulkodlak.
I'll beg again for the Xenopterid: cool looking alien bugs that use their natural body camouflage to pass as a human and attract victims to their doom. Give them a 2-action head bite in which if they reduce the target to 0 hit points their head if ripped off their shoulders and we're all set to go!
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAASEEEEE!

I've always been partial to the Agathions. I'd love to see them. I personally find them much more interesting than Angels.

Announced for November! Product images and descriptions are not final and are subject to change. :)
Very excited for this! Especially when it comes out as the pocket edition (hopefully?)!!!
I had a general question, about purchasing products, which will ultimately apply to this when it comes out.
Options for purchasing are to order it directly through Paizo, that mega huge website that we all know about, or getting it through a local game store. Generally, will the price directly from Paizo be about the same as through a local game store?
I know that, generally, the rule books are cheaper from that huge mega website, but I would rather not support them, if possible.

Purchases here is directly through Paizo, yes. They sell the books at the "manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP)" they give to retailers. These retailers can then sell it at the price they want, but Paizo follow it to be "fair" to the stores.

GOOD NEWS! Now you can't buy it from the Megastore! (See blog from July 2).
Yes, Paizo sells on the website for MSRP so as to not undercut the FLGS. But if you subscribe here you get a free PDF too.

Will there be any monsters from Bestiary 2 and 3 in this book? I was going through the Gatewalkers Hardcover and there were monsters referencing those books but I don't have those.
A few monsters from older books are confirmed to be in this book, but also, you can generally find stat blocks from Bestiary 2 and 3 on Archives of Nethys if you don't have those books.
