Do I need to do anything to trigger the free Starfinder Society subscription? i.e., do I need to add it to my cart, and the price will zero out, or does it just get added automatically?
Paul Ryan |
If it follows the same pattern as the Pathfinder Charter title, one needs to have already pre-ordered Starfinder before subscribing.
Edit: Though since I did pre-order, and don't have a Starfinder Charter title, maybe not. Then again, since I did subscribe to all the physical lines, and thus I should also be showing as a Starfinder Superscriber by the definition given, maybe something is just screwy in the title system.

I assume if we subscribed to the 4 printed subcriptions, then we are labeled as a Starfinder Superscriber and get the Starfinder Society subscription added automatically.

I'm also curious about this, since I am signed up for all four printed subscriptions and there's no sign of a SFS subscription on my "My Subscriptions" page.

Oh cool, I pre-ordered as well. Well, if that's how it works I'm sure it'll be fixed at some point if necessary

According to my actual order, and the accessories subscription page where I added it to my cart, I am subscribed. According to my subscriptions under my account info, I'm not, or at least it doesn't say that I am. Something's buggy somewhere.

We're looking into issues where people have added subs that aren't displaying correctly, as well as people who have preorders that didn't get properly cancelled.
We need to adjust our messaging on the Starfinder Society Scenarios benefit for Starfinder Superscribers—you'll get the same benefits that Starfinder Society Scenario subscribers get, but you don't actually get the subscription itself (and you don't actually need it).
"Charter Starfinder Superscriber" is a tag you get if you subscribe to all of the physical Starfinder subs and do so before the Core Rulebook is released; if you ever drop any sub in that line, you lose Charter status forever.

Gah! All right, you've got me. I'll get accessories too.

Dang, I can't really justify getting the maps and accessories subscriptions, even with the free SFS Scenarios.
It was the free scenarios that won me over on the accessories. I figure that with some rewriting I can turn them into side-missions during a campaign. Heck, I can just use them as one-shots as well.

So I signed up for both the RPG and AP line, and the first items in those lines showed up in my sidecart. I had some other stuff in there that I wanted to get shipped immediately, but now the Starfinder stuff is gone from my sidecart and there's no mention of the Core rulebook and Incident on Absalom Station in my subscription page. I should still be set for the Starfinder release though, right? Just want to make sure everything goes smoothly in August.

If you are worried about something, send customer service an email or you could open a thread in the customer service forum.
I'm not a betting man, but I would guess that they are very busy taking care of lots of stuff related to these subscription lines, so it might be a bit till they can get back to you.
Fear not, from all of my previous interactions I can attest that they are an awesome bunch of folks.

Oh I'm interested in the scenarios as well.
It's just that it'd be cheaper for me to go Core + AP + Scenarios,
than Core + AP + Maps + Accessories + Free Scenarios.

Now I'm curious. Let's see what my tags have to say for themselves.
From the preview, looks like I'm not a Starfinder Charter either :/
All you have to do to get that status is subscribe to the Starfinder Accessories line (or, if you have already done that, get the Paizo folks to straighten the status of that subscription out for you) before the Starfinder Core Rulebook ships in August.

Think I'm going to give it a little time to settle down. The web site's being wonky and the order engine hasn't sent me a confirmation, so if it's still an issue on Monday .... then I'll worry about it :)

Accessories was the big one I was on the fence about. But luckily I could start with the pawns, which I like to collect anyways. and skip some of the other stuff that I don't need. Maps are just useful to have around I have found.
It was later clarified that this is not the case; grabbing the Accessories sub gives you all 4 products. If you don't want all 4, you can forego the sub and just preorder what you want (but you also lose out on the Charter tag in that case, if that's something you care about).

Well that's disappointing. I liked having charter staus but it's not worth it, I'll be dropping the subscription most likely. Maybe the maps too, and just buy those as I need.

If I subscribe to all 4 does the paizo advantage discount apply to items in the subscription or just to other items I purchase.
I ask because when I add them to basket no discount shows up when I go to checkout, found a page that says paizo advantage only kicks in after first item ships, does that mean no discount on first subscription but I would on subsequent?

You'll get your discount applied to your account when the computers generate your first subscription discount, so yes it will apply to your big Starfinder order, but it won't show up until then.

I have the same issue.. hope it will not turn to a problem.
In my sidecart all preorders were listed without discount but an additional preorder item has the discount applied already.
So i wonder if it will changed later on or if i will be billed with normal price..
Also no information about the bonus society subscription.... we will see.
Paul Ryan |
The RPG Guild bonus is automatic. A superscriber isn't technically subscribed to it, but gets the benefits as if they are, making an actual subscription unnecessary. Hopefully any more subscription bugs like the Accessories line one will all be worked out and stomped by August and it'll be seamless to the customers.

So does the addition of the "Charter" give anything extra, except to have the tag you are one of the original (charter) members?
