I wasn't being serious.
As a bystander, I will point out that tone doesn't carry well over text. Sarcasm is a "tone" thing, so you really do need to actually state "this is humor" sometimes for it to come across that way.
Smileys help.. but even they don't always get the point across.
I can agree with that...to a point.
But at the same time, his post was so obviously sarcasm...you would have to not actually be paying attention to miss it....it was rather like a runaway train.... :P

A double digit percentage of this forum is either somewhere on the autistic scale and/or so heavily emotionally invested into the topic at hand that they don't process sarcasm and irony at all.
As someone else with aspurger's, who is also extremely sarcastic, I can tell you it is quite possible for someone on the autism spectrum to comprehend sarcasm. It is a spectrum, which does not lend itself easily to generalizations and stereotyping.

I am now wondering if being a gamer needs to be added to the aspurgers stereotype :P

What, you didn't detect sarcasm in my post? :)
And I did not state that everybody who is asp/aut can't detect sarcasm - it's just that many of them can't. I'm sometimes getting e-mails from people here who ask me to VISIBLY MARK every my post whether they are serious or not, because it's hard to tell if they are.
I'm not saying it's bad or wrong or that such people are inferior, I'm more saying that chances are that a brilliant tounge-in-cheek post that runs on double innuendos and allusions to allusions has a much higher chance to be misinterpreted here than it would at a lecture in law school or during a meeting of local poet's society.
Which I have, by the way, learned the hard way over the years of people losing their peanuts because they took my posts way too seriously.

I'm pretty sure it's explained by the entirety of part B of the DSM-5 in "Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities..." My girlfriend is a psychology major. I'm starting to realize why we're so good together. Lol.

I hope Paizo realizes how to balance archetypes for the kineticist and to make them desirable by now.
The two main abilities people want seem to be elemental overflow and elemental defense.
Which is why Kinetic Knight was favorably received imo.
I hope the blightburner contains both of them and doesn't do something similar to the dark elementalist where they have to go out of their way to gain the same bonus.
(IMO - The Dark Elementalist should have given more of a bonus since they have to go out of their way to gain their bonuses rather than achieve the same thing with much more work involved.)
So hope the blightburner is an archetype that we will want to use!

I think they mentioned that less so based on "replacing the same things" and more so that it's an archetype for a very SPECIFIC element and it REPLACES that element. Like blood replaces water, for example.
Chances are, it's going to be an energy attack and I could see it as an energy form for Earth.

Hard to say, traditionally radiation in Pathfinder has primarily been a disease or poison effect (in the Technology Guide it's a poison, but the effects of blightburn itself are a disease). Interestingly, touching blightburn crystals causes you to be burned due to fire damage. The gloomwasp from Down the Blighted Path on the other hand uses a special untyped damage with its radioactive attacks and did extra damage to certain kinds of creatures, but it seems unlikely they would want untyped energies. I would speculate that it might...
...send forth shards of irradiated crystal, doing part physical damage and part fire damage...
...as above, but the added fire damage would be an infusion added to it, allowing them to gain radioactive infusions or possibly even fire-related infusions...
...deal strictly fire damage, but have various radioactive infusions to go with it...
...deal untyped damage, but it has a Fortitude save to either partially or completely avoid damage, while also being a disease or poison effect...
...as above, but damage is simply reduced rather than allowing a Fortitude save to reduce or evade its effects, but possibly dealing extra damage to some kinds of creatures...
...or something else I've not thought of at all!
I do hope that, considering blightburn interferes with teleportation, that the bilghtburner kineticist has ways to shut down teleportation, but we will just have to see. Fortunately, not that much longer to wait...

Actually, I think it was supposed to be sardonic or facetious.

Not intended at all. Tone, internet, conveying, the, over, is.

Doesn't need to be added... cus it already is :). I have it and I can tell you exactly why it would attract the autistic. you have a highly predictable fantasy world filled with numbers and the ability to do both hand/eye coordination stuff as well as (more importantly) diplomacy stuff.
People with Aspergers like predictability as well as complicated things that require you to immerse yourself. We also have, I wouldn't say a hatred, but a palpable...dislike for reality with all it's unpredictability
concerning sarcasm, we process things logically as opposed to instinctively. This means that we take in factual info first. It's converted to sarcasm after based on LEARNING what signals sarcasm. this is more difficult in text form obviously, but not too much more difficult as it is hard face to face as it is.
it would be interesting to see an autistic trait (-2 diplomacy and sense motive, +2 to two knowledge skills) or better yet.....
a race!
(-2 CHA, +2 Int, +2 CON)
gullible: -2 sense motive
lovable bumbler: -2 diplomacy vs creatures unknown. +2 vs creatures known over a period of time
obsession: always trained in one skill of choice
eye avoidance: +2 vs gaze attacks and effects
Unshakable logic: +2 vs illusions, charms and compulsions
Unbreakable rules: +2 AC, CMD and saves vs Chaotic creatures, spells, and effects
Pain null: +2 vs pain effects
delicate harmony: -2 vs sonic and audio effects

Folks, product discussion threads are one of those times in gaming where railroading is good and we definitely like the train to stay on the tracks. If you'd like to take a detour and discuss how tone and sarcasm work (or not) with text based communication, please take the discussion to the appropriate section of the forums. Side note, if you plan on having a discussion of Autism and the gaming community, consider your posts very carefully to ensure they remain respectful and thoughtful. We have community members from many different backgrounds and experiences and we want to make sure our boards are welcoming to everyone.
Further posts derailing this thread will be removed.

doc the grey wrote:For those who might have worked on this book or the devs a quick question: Is the Blightburner kineticist going to be an archetype or a new elemental option like aether or fire?I wrote the blightburn kineticist (and coincidentally the totally unrelated blights in B6) and it was designed as an archetype in the same spirit of the blood kineticist. I'm extremely excited to see any changes to it and I think folks will enjoy it!
Excited and a little sad. Totally wanted to see a radiation themed element option and see how all that might play out in the kineticist design philosophy and without having to arch up to get it. That said, I'm intrigued to see how it all shakes out as an archetype with the rest of the class.

The same is true for me, we need more Drow of Golarion love (Player Handbook, Zirnakaynin Campaign Setting - i don't care). ;-)
As almost all of the Drow on Golarion serve Demon Lords, the new "Book of the Damned" hardcover (with it's obediences and spells and whatnot) will come in handy.
By now, some lucky subscribers should have this.
Could you share a content overview?
Thank you!

I've got my PDF and I'm staying out of the B6 thread, so you have my full (not too spoilery) attention.

Ooh, shiny! I'm mostly curious about the Blightburn Kineticist archetype. Dunno what to ask, so just whatever you feel would be interesting/appropriate to share.
Thanks, much appreciated!

What element is it associated with, and how does it change the damage type if at all ?
Thanks

Very nice. Another 'goody' for one of my fave elements.
Have not received my PDF yet...any alchemical items that pique your interest? How's the stonesinger?
Stonesinger has some cool abilities. Definitely earthy-focused.

Does the Psychic Marauder still get to pick a discipline? Or is that altered/replaced by the archetype?

A few things about the fungal druid?
Sure.
They have to select the Plant domain. They can summon creatures with the Fungal Creature template. They can transform their Animal Companion with the fungal Creature template. They eventually gain some Plant creature type's qualities.
