I am going to be honest here, and then clean up this post afterward. This response comes off as reading as being pretentious. The fellow asked for an update to the release date, which is currently being listed as "early February". Early February means next to nothing to a customer that is awaiting this product, especially when we are sitting here on the 6th without seeing that this has in fact been released. And posting a link that also reads "early February" offers no resolution whatsoever to a customer asking when they can expect this product to be released. Why can Paizo not just list a release date like almost every other company on the internet does for its products? We are close enough that a release date should be available for us to expect to be able to get our hands on this product. If that is not possible, then why not?

As I said earlier, the response came off as sounding pretentious. I am going to assume that it wasn't the intent, so can you possibly share some sort of an update on when we, the buying public, can anticipate this being released?

Because the release date can and does change—giving a rough estimate of expected release time ("early February") leaves us necessary wiggle room in case things go awry somewhere in the process of creating, editing, laying out, printing, receiving from printer (with a chance of being delayed in customs), and shipping to customers. Once we actually have all of our ducks in a row, Customer Service posts dates regarding subscriptions in the Customer Service forum (example for February). Right now, our goal is that the retail release date for our products is the last Wednesday of the month (February 26th in this product's case), and generally subscribers should get it before then.

As company that I would expect wishes to be taken seriously, how can you ever hope to be taken seriously when you cannot even provide release dates for your products. Forget the stores for a moment, you are the owner of the products. If you are not able to say when something is going to be available, how do you expect anyone to ever know and then be able to plan their finances in such a way as to be ready to purchase your items when they in fact become available. We, the buying public, should never actually enter the month of release for a product and still have no clue of when it is coming out.

Oh, and I am fully aware that the status of this item has now changed from early Feb to in stock, but that is truly beside the point now. If anything, it further illustrates the impression that your company doesn't care enough about its customers to allow us to know when things are going to release.

Dates guys, they are important........

Well, At least you plan your finances. Just keep on working on your social skills and you'll be OK.


Maybe it would help to have the retail street date written at the bottom of any item due to ship next month? (Like "Available in stores from feb 26th" or something).
i don't pay close attention, but it seems like they don't shift around that much that close to shipping.

seems like she succinctly explained why they have their shipping dates the way they do, as well as giving the stated goal of when they try to ship. I apologize, but I fail to see the exaggerated or undeserved assumption of dignity or importance.

If you were in their shoes, which do you think would be worse:

1) having a non-solidified date, such as "early February", and then fulfilling shipments around that time? or

2) Posting a specific date, then missing it through no fault of your own (shipping delays due to inclement weather, power outages at the printers, and so on)?

which one do you think would lead to more customer complaints?

God!! I've been going through the Forums and people are cranky!! Maybe its the water or something. I think if you had a subscription, it said that they would ship most certainly Feb 26, plus 6 to 10 days of shipping. Guys its a game (good game :)) it is not like you were in life-support or something.

@Talon378: Chill out dude(dudette). Yes, you are the customer, yes we are all excited on the game, yes we all want to have it as soon as possible, yes we all would like to have a definite date. However, I bet you that everybody is trying to make this happen in the most efficient way possible (it is not like Paizo is saying: "let's not tell anybody about the delivery date to make them angry, hahaha". My guess is that they are as anxious as you are to sell it ASAP. Think about it, they have bills to pay too :P ).

I would say it simply: I would better get the game ASAP (without guarantee of the date) than to force a company for a day and have them give it to me with 6 months of contingency so that they can meet the specific date.

@Paizo: Just keep on doing a good job. Great game. Ship it ASAP :D

I don't think you're a villain, I think the peculiarities of Paizo's business model make the various dates seem weird.

Because they're built around subscription models, plus they aim for domestic subscribers to receive their shipments around street date, plus they try and warn people ahead of time when a subscription is shipping to give people a few days to opt out and/or amend their payment methods and theyve recently experienced a significant growth spurt...there are a number of different dates floating around that might be of interest. As I said, listing the street date would be a good addition (ie "available in stores from..." Or some such).

However, if the street date is February 26th, they'll aim to ship all their subscriber copies by around the 24th (say). Given the volume of subscribers, they need to start that shipping run on the 14th, which means they send out a "warning email" and an authorisation, but not a charge on the 7th.... Add in the fact that somewhere in there preorders will get shipped, plus it will switch from preorder to available.... There are a whole bunch of dates which could be listed, depending on what you're interested in. I suspect the "early February" was a reference to when subscribers (and maybe preorderers) would see an authorisation on their card and when the orders would spawn. After that there's a week for people to change/cancel/add to their orders plus a fortnight or so of shipping and travel time. I don't think the street date was ever intended to be in the first half of the month.

I don't think it's unreasonable to query why things are different from other web stores (where the transition is a much more straightforward preorder to available to backorder). However, I think the dominance of the subscription services in Paizo's business model is a factor to consider. They don't have a steady trickle of orders through any given month, but a monstrous "spike" in sales the size of which can fluctuate unpredictably based on the releases of comics or miniatures in that month or the number of new/cancelling/suspending subscribers.


I believe the wording was "pre-order expected early February." The pre-order date isn't the same thing as the release date.

I'm pretty sure the only thing that was mentioned as being available in "early February" was the announcement of the actual expected street date. Sure enough, that was published on February 3rd, which counts as "early February" in my book.

Mine was missing the promo as well, I checked everywhere for it. Email sent to customer service.


I wasn't sure where to post this question, but here seemed as good a place as any: Is there anyway besides subscribing that I can get the promo cards? I ask because I buy my games from my FLGS (I like to support them where I can, cause it can be rough to have a gaming store in this economy). I'd like to get all of them, and would be willing to pay to do so.

Please note the following text at the top of the Product Schedule page:

"Estimates indicate when we expect to have completed shipping from Paizo's warehouse; retail release dates are generally set 2–3 weeks later."

Most of the promo cards are made available through hobby retailers. Please see this FAQ entry for a full list of promo cards, including how and when each will be distributed.

Is the Clockwork Librarian ally really supposed to add 2d8 to all Intelligence checks when played? Or just non-combat checks? An added 2d8 when Ezren casts an attack spell seems like a huge boost.


Why is this set as Unavailable? Out of print or something?

It's in all the second printings.


Do the second printings address all the issues and corrections under FAQ?


Not all of them, no. Some happened after the second printing. Paizo is working with DriveThru Printing to make errata packs available. From what has been said, it seems there will be different packs for the different printings.


Do you know when they started printing the second printings?
That way I can tell which of the FAQ errata has been implemented.


Sometime around the beginning of March or end of February. It is tough to say exactly since it seems like, knowing they would need it, they had started printing it before the first printing was really even released.


We have the base set plus adventures 1-3. We bought this adventure deck from Amazon and it was noticeably different - cards were a different size and darker. We sent them back. We realised that so far we have the second printing, printed in the USA decks. It says on the back of the boxes.

Is this also from the second printing? I am having a hellish time trying to find later adventures that will match our base set. :( Unfortunately the difference is so obvious that it spoils the game.
