I had thought when Bestiary 6 came out I wouldn't need it.
How wrong was I!
This book will definitely take it's place as one of the essential Pathfinder books in my collection, if you're waiting to get this, don't! Get it now!
Well done Paizo!
My one complaint is mine had the same s@+#ty yellow binding glue as the first printing of the Starfinder CRB, but I'm not dropping the rating because it is that good (also I still have binding glue leftover from my Starfinder CRB).
So Bestiary 5 was a bit disappointing to me, but this one is something that did something with Pathfinder I haven't seen in a while: gave me ideas that I wanted to use. A lot of the monsters presented are honestly interesting. As usual, there are some reprints from other products, but I always favor having consolidated lists of things. I won't use everything, but there is enough here that I'll be using a good chunk.
Also, the weremantis reminded me how much I love Portal, so I have to give it to them there.
So me and two other guys from my gaming group ordered this book from amazon. WOW, all of us have missing and or scrambled pages.
I have over 17 missing pages (most of the archdevils content)and more or less 20 pages out of order. I don't know if they are sending all the "special" books down here, but I can assure you I will never buy a physical book from Paizo anymore.
Well, there goes a lot peoples' plans... for that month anyway. Looks less likely the product description will update before the end of the year but I am still hoping it will.
look at it this way: it's still coming out and not being indefinitely delayed. More time for things to be added, perhaps.
Nope. The delay is not "we need more time to finish the book" but more of a "we need more time for the book to get printed and shipped and all that." The book was sent off to the printers a few weeks ago. The time for things to be added more or less ended then. It actually ended in the 1st or maybe 2nd week of December, when I realized we'd almost reprinted a megafauna and I had to swoop in and replace it with something new with a much larger horn.
So, Paizo, while we're waiting, is it still too early for any information on who the empyreal lords're going to be?
And fine... in an attempt to soothe things over regarding the delay... the following three Empyreal Lords are statted up in this book, and are listed in order of power, with the first being the highest CR and the last being the lowest CR of the three...
Arshea
Black Butterfly
Ragathiel
Hope that revelation doesn't make folks angrier than it does make them happier! :-P
They really need to use Procoptodon the giant kangaroo in this beatiary, the only megafauna I really still need. Most others will be just different sized monsters that are already in the book somewhere.
Well since we are getting more combat fey, more powerful monstrous humanoids, then what about the oozes? Other then having some more intelligent types. Maybe they will have special movement abilities like 100+ land speed, flight, phasing through solid objects, etc.. Maybe they will have spell powers, spell casting, and/or unique supernatural abilities.
I really don't understand why i'm lessed hyped for this book than even for Bestiary 1. This bestiary feels to me like the popular boy of the class with all the popular (minus Cthulu then, he should have been in this one) monsters. Big high CR guys ect ect, many reprints (probably from my least favorite AP's the Demon and Robot AP) and overal monsters I don't really care for.
You've already said that about a dozen times now. Your point has been made.

Would it help if I said that it'll be the best bestiary ever?
Todd Stewart - I hope so, but all the monsters so far revealed aren't really doing it for me, spare for Krampus maybe, but its an unique. And there are 100 monsters less than normal. I hope we get an update soon, so maybe I can be hyped with the rest again... this description doesn't really show any monsters from myth that aren't unique.
It's the first Bestiary that I've directly worked on (as opposed to having monsters I created elsewhere included or updated in the book). Of course it'll be the most awesome! :D
