Mythic Adventure Awaits!

For decades, hordes of demons have ruled the Worldwound. Their Abyssal corruption has poisoned the land. Previous crusades did their best to contain the demonic invasion with the invaluable aid of a line of fortifications enhanced with magical wardstones. Yet of late, many of the crusaders have become complacent or simply fatigued from an endless war, while all along, the foul masterminds of the demonic invasion have built a deadly plan. They want to expand the Worldwound's Abyssal corruption past the wardstones and spread their evil across the entire world!

Whether you're a stalwart crusader or a simple mercenary, the Storm King's profane machinations will soon surround you. The time has come to live up to your true mythic potential and become a legendary hero in the world of Golarion! In an adventure unlike any other, the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Wrath of the Righteous Base Set will take you into the depths of the Abyss—and back again! This complete cooperative strategy game pits 1 to 4 heroes against the monsters, temptations, corruption, and treachery of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game's popular Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path. Choose your character's class, build a deck of equipment and allies, and explore dangerous locations as you play through multiple scenarios in an exhilarating mythic fantasy adventure. Characters grow in potency and potential, learning expert skills, gaining magical might, and adding powerful boons to their decks. All of this will prepare them to surmount greater obstacles through a complete Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Adventure Path.

The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Wrath of the Righteous Base Set includes:

  • More than 500 cards, featuring 7 character classes, a wide array of gear and magical accoutrements, 6 paths to mythic power, and dozens of allies, monsters, and villains from the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path.
  • The Worldwound Incursion Adventure Deck, which begins your journey through the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path.
  • A complete set of 6 polyhedral dice.

Supplement your Wrath of the Righteous experience with the Character Add-On Deck, Class Decks, Adventure Decks, or Pathfinder Adventure Card Game accessories (sold separately).

New to the game and already loving it!

5/5

I picked this up a couple of days ago, having never played the Adventure Card Game before. After reading through the long - and not entirely simple to grasp - rules, I finally just sat down to play a game solo with Crowe from the Character Add-On deck. It was so cool that I immediately wrangled up my two oldest daughters (11 and 9) and taught them how to play. We had a blast! They already loved the RPG, but now this gives us something a little different to do every now and then.

It gets kind of crazy when you start figuring up how much a single adventure path will cost your family (or gaming group) to play through - especially if you use any of the class decks - but it's enough fun that we'll probably end up buying pretty much everything in the game line eventually.

I feel like there's enough depth to the strategy to keep us coming back for a long time, especially with new stuff being added in every card pack, and all of the new stuff you get as you level up.

My only real criticism is this, however: Paizo, honey, did you really think that people would want to WRITE on their cards? Seriously? Couldn't you come up with a more elegant solution than soft pencil on checkboxes? I know that there are printable character sheets, but that feels like a real diversion from the fun of just playing with cards. I don't know what the answer is, but I don't like the one you left us with.

And thank you for answer Hawkmoon269:-) Sorry I miss first sentence of you post, that you are not a Paizo employee.

You are welcome. How good are you with a razor knife?

I'm personally really hoping that adventure case comes soon, but it seems to have been stalled in development. I know a while back The Broken Token had said they were looking for a European distributor. I also know that one that looks remarkably similar to the Broken Token one is for sale on Amazon.co.uk. There are a few other card game players on the forums that also hail from Germany. I'm not sure if ordering it all together and then figuring out how to get it to everyone once in counter would save you some money and be worth the headache, but you could look into it. MyFly would be someone to ask about that.

And that is about all I know about inserts for PACG. But yeah, in ideal world that adventure case would be in production by now and holding so many of my cards. If you have more questions about the adventure case, I'd suggest popping over to the card game forums so we can return this thread to discussion of the Wrath of the Righteous Base Set. This thread is about the adventure case in particular. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Hawkmoon you are a miracle worker. Thanks for all your advices. I will put them to good use.
One more question, if I would like to know more about story, will I find my answers in books released by Paizo? By other words, how much story is inside WOTR books?

Vic, I think he's referring to the plastic insert within the box that holds all the cards. He'd mentioned earlier that the insert that's included with the box only accommodates unsleeved cards. Hawkmoon had suggested the 3rd party box inserts by put out by The Broken Token and Go7 as examples of inserts that can handle cards-in-sleeves, but it seems those are scarce in Germany too. =(

Ah. We have nothing whatsoever to do with that. They're not officially licensed products. As Hawkmoon mentioned, our official accessory licensee UltraPRO has one in the works, but there are no details available on that, and no release date for it yet.

Each card game Adventure Path is an adaptation of an RPG Adventure Path. While we add and subtract elements due to the different nature of each game, the storyline is the same. So the RPG Adventure Path books will tell you a lot of the stories behind the scenarios, locations, villains, henchmen, monsters, allies, loot, and other cards you'll find in the PACG version.

Thank you for your answers. But I must ask. Is it really such a problem to create a PDF for each PACK version from already existing content? It does not need to be super long. Perhaps 15 pages or so, with before adventure read this/ after adventure read this would make such a difference. You can sell it on your page for some normal price. I do not believe that I am the only one, who would buy such a product.
You can improve your/our game so much.
You created errata cards, make another step to be best.
I am looking forward for explanation why is it absolutely not possible. Can someone from Paizo please answer this?

You're asking the wrong question. It's obviously possible to do this, but that doesn't mean Paizo should do it. Before that would happen, there are a couple of other questions that need to be answered. The first one is whether Paizo could sell enough copies of such a product to recoup their cost (and if so, what would be the appropriate price). And even if that investigation proved favourable, there's the question as to whether this would be the best use of their resources, as I'm sure there are other products competing for the limited time of the editing staff and of all the other people necessary to turn an idea into a reality.

Hello I have got 2 questions.

Can you please explain location armory when closing? summon and acquire random weapon. This does mean, that I should succeed on check to acquire it and keep weapon for myself, or I will get a weapon and location is closed.

Marketplace: how does when at this location work. This + 1 is increasing difficulty of check to acquire boon, or does this +1 help me and it is added to my roll?

Sorry but wording is unclear to me.

The When Closing section on some locations requires you to summon and defeat (or acquire) a card. Summon and encounter it; if you do not defeat (or acquire) it, the location is not closed.

So if you succeed, you get to keep the weapon and the location is closed; if you fail, the weapon goes back in the box and the location is not closed.

Marketplace wrote:
When you attempt to acquire a boon, add 1 plus the scenario’s adventure deck number to checks to acquire it.

Adding to a check is a good thing. Increasing the difficulty of a check is a bad thing.

Please ask further rules questions in the PACG Rules Questions forum.
