It's not a pad. It's 16 pages, saddlestiched (bookbinder talk for stapled) into a booklet; the cover has a foldout and two pockets to store stuff. You *could* photocopy it (or print the PDF version), but it's a nice enough package that I think most people are just going to want to buy one for each character they run.

Not me. They're ten bucks a pop, and I change characters a LOT. I'll probably end up photocopying or printing a PDF.

I've got my charsheet needs covered by HeroLab, but having offishul Pathfinder record-my-deaths page sounds rad.

I do my character sheets by hand. I sometimes use online generators (not subscription based, though) for some of the math, but that's it for tools.

Neat cover image. But 16 pages for a character sheet? I can't think of enough to take up that many pages. Honestly curious what is going to be on all of them.

I'm curious whether you considered placing this within the Player Companion subscription instead of the rules line?

No doubt it's partly the price leading to my impression, but it seems to me it would fit more neatly there.

Player Companion is setting specific (Golarion), this looks to be non-setting specific...

To me, "subscription-based" means you pay a monthly fee for access, like DDI or some online games. Hero Lab pricing is "content-based," meaning you buy the content in each book (or set of books) past Core separately but then never have to pay for it again.

Regardless, it doesn't sound like a product that would be useful to you. I just wanted to clarify because people have been confused by its pricing structure in the past, thinking they have to pay for a new license yearly to continue using it, for example, which would be "subscription-based." :)

I would buy the pdf just for that.

It's a real shame it's not going to be ready until July...
Since the recent news about PFS leveling, I'd think you'd
have a solid enough market share to want to put it out MUCH
sooner than just befor GENCON

I think this sounds fantastic and I'm thrilled to see it. That said, $10 PER CHARACTER is more than I can spare. I would be all over a PDF so that I could get continued use out of it though. If that makes me "cheap," then take it up with the wife.

I'm very excited for this I have used the "Complete Character Folio" (PFRPG) by Gamer Ingenuity a few times and have found that it adds a sense of weight to every character I play. I end up really fleshing out the details. My favorite features of the Complete Character Folio were the spaces for familiars or cohorts and the 20 level plan in the back. I also liked the quick status references and folder pockets. I hope this meets that in terms of quality and unlike the competition I hope it is in color.

So in short is it in color; does it have pockets?

General:
Much depends on the style of game. In games where the PCs routinely die, $10 will likely be seen as too much to invest in a character with a lifespan of single-digit levels.

More interesting to me is how this will be handled in HeroLab. A new output format to match the folio style would be nice. It would be similar to photocopying the printed sheets or printing the PDF.

While I doubt I'll get this for all my characters, I do think I'd like to try out this Folio at least once.

Nothing to be really intrigued about unfortunately. I just add everything that is relevant to my character on to my character sheet. So, it includes a description, my stat block, the rules as relevant to my character, equipment tables, equipment descriptions, spell descriptions, cohort and followers etc.

Basically, it saves me time writing carrying a bunch of books around, its all there on my sheet. I am not even the worst at my table for it, there is another player who even outshines me when it comes to the Character Bible!

My character is now 13th-level (gunslinger 1/rogue 2/wizard 10) and there is plenty of notes included for our campaign (Curse of the Crimson Throne) as well. In the end all my character sheets tend to become something like a campaign chronicle.

I second the fillable pdf version.

is there a way to convert to a Stat Block?

I'm assuming that, like most Paizo products, this is going to be awesome. If that is indeed the case, it would be awesome if you guys let the Hero Lab guys create a custom output that mimics this...

I'm glad they're making this into a PDF format as well; instead of just a print version.

I don't switch characters often, but some of my players rotate every few months; as do their characters.

My entire gaming group didn't want to buy Gamer Ingenuity's Folio over the lack of PDF support. Which is a shame, as I love making sure 3PP's stay in business. But hey... it's 2012; you can't be short sighted in a competitive market.

You get my cash Paizo. Probably lots more of it before July though. :P

hehe i have adobe acrobat extended. I can save my form fillable auto calculating sheets :P interesting idea since i have been meaning to go to staples to buy some blank books to write down stuff in. now just to have a steady source of income before june rolls around...

I'm actually thinking this will be pretty cool.

I've never used a character folio before but I've eyed a few of them back during 3.5e. This would be less useful to me if I weren't getting the PDF too (subscriber benefit) but $9.99 for the paper copy plus the PDF, I think it will be worth it. I can use the paper copy as a template and probably end up printing specific pages as I need them. I don't like to read PDFs so I use the hardback/dead tree version as a catalog for what I want to print for my game resource binder.

Arg. I knew I saw that before. Should've read all the comments instead of using the browser search. Yeah, I'll definitely want to pick up some of these for my PFS characters. Thank you!

I'll probably only buy one physical copy. Ten dollars is too much for me to buy more than one. I'll just print the pdf as needed.

I still remember the Ultimate Character record portfolio from mongoose...one of my favorite character sheets actually...Shame I am using Hero Lab for all of my character creation these days, still, I'll probably end up with at least one of these for the shelf.

I absolutely love these. For every AP, I write up a one page history/background with a picture, as I feel it helps flesh out your persona, not just for yourself, but for your group. It adds so much more to the game by allowing your DM a more in depth understanding of the character your portraying and how it fits into his or her campaign. For gaming groups that have made this mandatory, I've had a richer game experience. Looking forward to trying this product out for my current and future characters.

I hope it's not made of the same glossy paper as regular Paizo products, because I doubt you can safely use an eraser with them.

The price is really out there, $10 for a character sheet? Free RPG Day products have the same page count and a much more reasonable price.

I love the hero lab character generator for pathfinder rpg. I cannot seem to get the lore warden class however.
