Paizo employees have pointed out before that when they order art, it is not at a resolution to look right when printed at battle map size. It would be cost prohibitive to improve the original art images that much.
For Pathfinder APs, the pdfs came with a separate file of maps. After the entire AP was released, they would sell an item that was just pdf maps for the entire AP for people who had bought paper copies. I agree it would be nice if they did that here.
They choose to order maps that are not good for battle maps. Several digital artists on here have pointed out that they could do so and it would not be cost prohibitive.
Q: Will there be a fully functional offline option for Hero Lab Online?
A: Not initially. Offline options are being explored, but it will be some time before we can truly focus on working that out. We have to bring you all the rules first!
Deal breaker for me. None of these new features are worth this MASSIVE inconvenience. Herolab is now basically only usable in my house.
Home is the vast majority of the places that I game, but I want the option to go to my LGS and play with SFS. That is not possible with the offline mode being no edits. PCGen hurry the f up =)
Shadow's work with the monster converter shows that it is possible that a starfinder module could be made with the authoring kit. I hope that someone takes it the step further to make that a possibility.
Doing a planetary survey is pretty laborious work for just a Starfinder group, but the idea has merit. With magic though, "ideal" could mean many things.

Would the image be as high of quality? Good resolution?
Yeah projectors these days are pretty good.
I was one of the first on ENWorld to show how to use projectors for battlmapping and I was one of the first readers of Dungeon who wrote to the mag about using projectors back in 2004/05. In fact, that was to complain about the technical issues in trying to use their artwork with a projector and a VTT. Erik Mona listened and their technical standards improved at Paizo concerning it, too.
Still, I don't use projectors anymore and no longer recommend them. The technology has been wholly surpassed by flat screens which work better, are cheaper and have none of the drawbacks of projectors. Ambient lighting in the room was always the biggie - and it still is.
The only thing a projector is superior at is for projecting an image on to white(ish) foam scenery to help it blend in and give your image true 3D quality. So an outside battle scene where there are hilltops? Projectors are still pretty good for that if you craft your scenery appropriately to compliment your projected image. However, the number of times that I found something like that worth it in all the years I used a projector (I went through three of them) was maybe *twice*.
40"+ LCD 1080p flat screen. Cheaper and you'll be WAY happier.
Yeah when I got mine in the mail, I did notice that the book was noticeably slimmer. I hope they get fatter, but I don't want to fat-shame the dev's =)
I prefer VTT because of the convenience. I can play at odd times when necessary and honestly, I really got into VTT when my group at home decided to save on gas and just stay home to play online with each other. Now with PFS having a great online presence, I can do that well online as well.
Is the PDF version form-fillable/saveable? I.e. can I fill in character details, save them, level up later, and print it out, all without grubby handwriting?
If it is like the Pathfinder one, then no. It is not form fillable.
My group is on book 5 of Strange Aeons and we started last December. I figure about 1 year in we will finish. With this progress, the bimonthly release schedule will barely cover us. We play 3.5-4 hours weekly.
Yeah all the AP'S need some massaging because it is an AP not a scenario. It just requires a little gm innovation, but only small parts are sanctioned in PFS mode. Campaign mode is easy peasy.
As much as I want to back this, I cannot without 100% assurance of linux support. I hope the stretch goal is reached, but I have been burned too many times with other games that "stretched" for linux and never got support.
Hey I just added the Starfinder Hardcover and AP subscriptions in my account and I just wanted to make sure that there was no issues with my sidecart and regular subscriptions. I still want the Starfinder GM Screen and the Starfinder Player Character Folio, but I want my normal monthly subscriptions and no doubling up since I had a ton of Starfinder stuff in my sidecart before the sub option was available.
I didn't read anything about her sexuality either, especially with the heroic sacrifice. I love my bros from the army and have seen some of the same types of heroic sacrifice from my closest friends, but we were totally straight. Without the author saying that she was specifically a lesbian I wouldn't have put that together.
Not that it really matters any ways. I am just intrigued on how people caught on to it so quickly, just like how I didn't pick up that Shardra was a transgendered iconic either.
Maybe it is just my cis gendered white male privlage.
SMH. I appreciated what you did JPSTOD. It is a damned shame that the legal hammer had to be swung your way, for someone that was just trying to provide a service that Paizo would not offer (even though you showed them it was totally possible).
Long story short, there are two thing that don't go down with Americans - kids in danger and nipples. Feature either (or both, if you're unlucky) and you're in for a world of hurt.
Paragons are unique creatures with racial hit dice and other baked-in abilities. Think of them like a giant from a bestiary with class levels and mythic ranks. They'll all be statted in our first Bestiary and will be getting a little more attention in the upcoming Intrigue Manual.
As for playing a Paragon, they are basically advanced infused. They have the same minklink abilities and other such qualities. If you took an infused and made them Large and gave them enough Hit Dice and class levels and mythic tiers to put them in a CR 25-29 range, you'd have an idea of what a Paragon looks like, mechanically.
I imagine that if they were created, they could be created again... =)
Is there a player option in the book to play as a Paragon that I have not seen? The Paragon Marshals are pretty neat (and have Mythic levels to boot!).
When they showed you the Starfinder early material, why did you guys choose to stay with Pathfinder rather than go with Starfinder? Without violating NDA or anything else, was there just a mechanical reason or something else?
Many things about this are great. I am not sure how I feel about "the score" yet.
The Score was created as both a storytelling and GM's tool, and also to help differentiate our setting from a place like Golarion, where concepts like prophecy and predestination are minimized. It's strongly inspired by the Draconic Prophecy from Eberron, in that it's more of a living road map that can be altered or misread.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
Thanks for the clarification on the score. It just seems weird to have the solar system shut off in a pocket so other gods or divine magic be restricted. To me it is not good or bad, just different.
I guess maybe I am trying to see how well Aethera can mesh with Starjammer, and with the system shut off in like a pocket, it might be difficult to incorporate aspects from Starfinder.
I imagine all these are not problems if you run the Aethera game vanilla, and at this point I am just collecting all the ideas I can for a future game.

About Thayalh Elfheart
Background:
In the same tragedy that destroyed his homeland and decimated his people left Thayalh blind and abandoned. It was only by luck that he wasn't captured or slain. Abandoned in the smoldering wreckage of his anscestral he connected his his divine calling.
Since that day Thayalh has developed the gifts that he feels has been granted to him by his slain anscestors, and fought to defend the remnants of the Forests that make up the Elven Nation. He has little love for any Human principality, but upon hearing that the Prince had taken charge of the Jewelled Republic Thayalh traveled as part of a small diplomatic envoy to negotiate a treaty against their common foe. He travels now under the Prince's flag not out of loyalty to the crown by to seek revenge on behaf of his people, and to make this clear he has taken on a surname in the common language: Thayalh Elfheart.
