Much like the PF2e had a playtest book that went out to people that purchased it, will the same be a thing for the Starfinder 2e playtest?

I only ask because the softcover playtest book looks totally awesome on my shelf and is a good bookmark into the history.

I really hope that the starship combat does not suck. As it is now, it is a challenge unless you do it like all the time and everyone in your group loves it and also practices it.

If I have to do a PF2e game I will obviously want to play a Stellifera or Dragonkin.

One hopes that this will be one of the APs that get translated over to SF 2e like Kingmaker was ported to 2e =)

Yeah I saw that and immediately was more excited because Arcadia rocks.

Please don't make the operative suck. It is my go to character and I love my Dragonkin operative.

Maybe ship combat will get a makeover!

So why is Starfinder Enhanced a thing? The timing seems really off.

I do like how you don't have to dedicate a page or two to reference the ORC like the OGL you have to. It is like a little box you have to have to indicate that it uses the ORC.

Anything yet? Still no Discord invite.

So is there any news? I signed up to receive updates but I have not gotten a single one. I have heard about the discord, but have not seen an invite or anything.

I live in a place where unions and strikes are so everyday that the idea of being anti-union admittedly boggles my mind. Wages here are higher across the board, and our workforce is so much better protected, given the horror stories I hear from US friends.

Maybe the US is just... doing unions wrong? I don't know. Either way, I can't help but feel that unions are a Good Thing all around, and always at least a step in the right direction.

It is just that there are 50 different states doing 50 different things regarding unions. I work in a right to work state, so the teacher unions TECHNICALLY have little power but in practice have much more power (imagine if we went on strike, where would all the children get their education? It is a powerful form of leverage). It really depends on where you live.

Working in a Union was one of the worst working experiences in my life, so I hope if this goes well, good luck.

I think unions largely depend on where you work. Being a teacher in a teacher union, I have greatly enjoyed the collective bargaining.

I am not trying to shove a peg into anything. I am trying to work out why anyone would want to "get rich" as a free trader in this game (basically the premise of the whole AP) when this is not really possible with the current system limitations.

Liberty's Edge

Maybe a Starfinder Unchained would address this like ABP did for Pathfinder 1E.

I have told myself that I will only buy pocket editions of books besides my AP subscription. They are just so cute!

Just so y'all know, the map on the dam has no doors, but they seem to be offset to the right like they did a Photoshop pasting error.

Wait, so no kobolds because they are in the alien card deck? They reprint stuff in multiple products all the time, and I don't want to have to buy the deck of cards just to get a couple races. I thought the cards were just for brevity sake.

The packaging is torn to hell and the book went with it.

Another reason not to have a Drift Drive is if those deploying the ship expect to have to ditch it (or otherwise lose it). Less cost.

Starships are free silly =P. They don't have a cost.

I too am thankful for it. I hope that the future brings more gritty aspects like BPs to credits and stuff like that.

Bi-monthly again? When did they say this? That totally sucked with Dead Suns.

Liberty's Edge

I understand all that and I agree. Why would one go into interstellar commerce when you can't actually get credits out of the system? This is a big detractor for me running the game.

Liberty's Edge

I was really hoping for a more detailed economic system in this AP but all we got was an abstract BP system that cannot really be put into actual wealth. Digging through the module there is an abstract translation to actual wealth in

plot spoiler:
where you were supposed to deliver 50 tons of laser rifles and grenades. Since only about half was actually delivered, assuming that you gave them to the authorities, and Sinjin says they cost him 5.2 million in profit.
In the Galactic Trade section, each lot is divided into 25 ton lots, so we can easily say that each lot of weapons can be sold for 5.2 million credits.

I wish we had more to go on since this seems like a really interesting concept to really play up the Free Trader portion of the game.

What spells from the spell lists can integrate nature and civilization to the point of minimalizing the colony impact? I really can't see any obvious low-level and widely available spells that accomplish this task.

Using pdfextract on linux is what I use to extract all images from a module when prepping a VTT. With the art being all cut up into pieces this is... trying.

I checked my profile and I have it checked to send me emails about when products get updated but this is not happening. In fact, I know several products have been updated after I downloaded them and I have not received an email about them being updated since 10/31/18 when I got a notification about the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide being updated.

My group is getting ready to run this and we all are going Soldier, just different types. I am going to be a stellifera guard soldier, power armor jockey archetype. Besides weapons and armor (with a thermal regulator upgrade) he has the following:

Hygiene Kit
Backpack, Industrial
Oxygen Candle
10x R2E

For importing maps, you must do some serious surgery, the larger the map the more work you have cut out for you. I have not really seen a Starfinder map in the APs yet that have a square grid. More like different sized rectangles.

I like playing at my local lodge (Props to TriOmegaZero), but I won't GM in meatspace because I don't want to deal with physical maps, minis and gaming in pants. Online is just a more functional area for me to work in with my hectic life and having kids.

That and the Online region really has their stuff together, and the SFS games on there have been top notch.

Several people have tried to offer high resolution maps, converting existing AP's to better maps and have given up due to getting shut down by Paizo. Several artists have said it is not harder to offer higher resolution maps and have offered samples, but Paizo doesn't pick them up.

Right now, we are stuck with what we have unfortunately, and as a result, the digital platforms we use to game are getting short sticked.

They have said numerous times in the PF AP section that it is not "affordable" for them to do so.

Others have called BS, and I agree with them.

I have finished book 4 with my group and start book 5 next game. I guess I will have to hand out chronicles when they are available.
