I was going to say you forgot my character (Abe no Toshiro) but apparently I never actually wrote down his backstory; or rewrote it in this case. I forgot I used this alias for a very briefly lived Savage Worlds campaign and deleted all the previous stuff (the original was already a high level PF character; level 12 or so).

Whoops.

Toshiro is mostly done, just need to write down his spellbook.

Spoilers: it's full of Transmutation spells. And a couple Summon Monsters for Guardian Spirit.

Toshiro is a master of the biological processes that shape all living things, and as such he can also act as a healer.

Sheet.

My (Storm Dragon) character is "Abe no Toshiro". Aasimar(?) Arcanist

Ahh, a fellow Tien? I am an Oni-hunter, myself.

Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Psionics (Smite): 1d10 ⇒ 6

Manifesting 3 powers; Quickness comes out as a Free action, then Speed and Smite are both actions without the -2. As a free action he also manifests his sword, armor, and shield.

Once prepared, he heads off.

"Let us dispatch these foes quickly."

And I'm moving at a Pace of 16 toward the nearest bad guy.

Tossing the old version of his backstory in this post just so it's saved somewhere; nothing but his heritage (direct descendant of Abe no Seimei) applies to RIFTS version.

Old Backstory:
Toshiro was born under auspicious signs declaring him to be he eventual successor of Abe no Seimei's legacy as a great magician. Almost as soon as he could talk, his training began, his masters teaching him the way to communicate with kami, beseeching them for aid or warding off evil. He grew up believing a close relationship with the spirits of all things was as natural as the relationships you or I form with other human beings or animals (depending on their relative intelligence).

His upbringing left him gifted and educated in many magical rituals and traditions, it also left him isolated from much of humanity, and spoiled nearly completely rotten; he never wanted for a thing and needed but ask for a something to be done or brought and it would be so. It became as natural as commanding spirits to command people, and expect unthinking obedience in all things and as he grew to early adolescence his family and teachers realized their mistake, as Toshiro had grown arrogant and entitled beyond all reason.

So he was subjected to a severe change in lifestyle, forced to live among the common folk and live a simpler life for a time. At first he resented this, and lashed out at the "injustice", but after a time came to appreciate that the reduction in luxury led to a much needed increase in FREEDOM; the ability to wander and make friends away form the watchful eyes of his protective and overbearing family, whose expectations he had not even consciously realized were weighing heavily on him.

So it was that by the time he was a young man, he realized the true injustices his people suffered under the yoke of their shogun, Yoshinori. Raised to power while Toshiro was a small child, his rule had been marked by capricious and cruel dictatorship, that his people bore as best they could.

Seeking to save his people from their own government, Toshiro was in the process of gathering support among the common people and other sin power to oppose the shogun, banking on his name, reputation, and ability to perform miracles to sway them to his side on a grand pilgrimage from the small village he had been moved to, back to the Seimei Shrine in Kyoto.

He had gathered what he believed to be sizable support, and assured he was on his way to fulfilling his destiny by freeing his people form the yoke of unjust rule for what could be more disastrous than a government that did not serve its people)...when the meteor struck.

In the weeks hence he has moved among the people, treating their wounds, laying spirits to rest, and slaying predatory yokai, aghast at the sudden and unprecedented destruction laid on the people of Japan. His original goal almost seems petty now...but with the Shogun's men keeping up their brutal and unfair treatment even amidst the devastation, he steeled himself to end the problem once and for all.

He would storm the Shogun's palace and end this with his own hands.

After all the hubbub with Mama Gangoola, Toshiro bids his farewell to his allies.

"I must return home. I had not expected this journey to take us so far afield, and now that the dragon has been defeated, I do not think I am needed as much with you as I am rebuilding Japan."

"Do not hesitate to call on me if you are ever in need again. Until we meet again, my friends." he says, and after a rest to commune with the spirits, teleports off on a multi-step journey home.

I relinquish Toshiro to Mike as an NPC.

Toshiro doe snot know what to make of the vampire. He seems polite, if very different form what he knows of vampiric folklore.

As such, he inundates him with questions.

"Where is your talisman? Aren't kyonshi...vampires, I mean, supposed to hop everywhere? Are you a spirit possessing a body, or do you make more of your kind by spreading a plague? Your nails do not seem sharp enough for the latter. Or maybe you are one of the vetala from the Indian peninsula? You eat souls and bad dreams?" he asks, among other questions.

Eventually, he gets the idea that vampires in this part of the world are very different from the stories he grew up with.

"Ah, disappointing. Feeding on blood seems so...boring. Everybody drinks a little blood now and then!"

Parry: 11| Toughness: 15 (6)| RATN: 8| Pace: 8 (d10)| ISP: 7| Bennies 3/3

"Vampire?" Toshiro says, brow crinkled.

Parry: 11| Toughness: 15 (6)| RATN: 8| Pace: 8 (d10)| ISP: 7| Bennies 3/3

Toshiro is uncomfortable.

"It is shunned by those reasonable in my country as an outdated practice, but sadly still legal. I should have expected the outside world would commit many of the same sins on a larger scale."

And apparently slavery was legal in Japan until 1590, but most of the wealthy elites looked down on it as a practice. Roughly 5% of Japan's population were slaves at any point between the 8th and 16th centuries.

Toshiro, on the other hand, perks at the mention of the Bandersnatch.

Toshiro got a ring that lets him speak English, Latin, German, and arabic.

"Yes, we did. It took one of our mules for its meal, and we thought it had killed one of our friends. Luckily it was just a misunderstanding."

"The bird lions do not look friendly. Let's not lose any more of teh animals."

Toshiro readies an action to cast Telekinetic Charge on a martial character with flight (probably Alphonse, unless someone else would get a full attack out of it) once they are within range.

Toshiro, unable to see his allies but knowing there's fighting going on, moves to as far to equidistant from his allies as he can and readies himself to Haste his companions!

Move up 30 feet toward where arrows are being fired, Readying an action to cast Haste once the people who attack in melee are in range to catch it (i.e. after Ogon Fox and Ihrin move up, so I can catch him, her, and Alphonse with the cast).

Toshiro teleports home for a while to tend to his people, but is soon drawn back to England by a tugging sense of duty, confirmed by his own Divinations and reading of entrails.

Something dark is coming, and his new friends require his aid more than the people of Japan, whose lives are slowly settling from the devastation wrought by Gojira's passing.

Parry: 11| Toughness: 15 (6)| RATN: 8| Pace: 8 (d10)| ISP: 7| Bennies 3/3

Toshiro, seeing his magic is worthless against the beast, moves into a more dangerous range to help Ihrin as she nearly freezes herself to death fighting the monster.

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 9 = 18

Toshiro's hand glows as he places it on her back, closing her wounds.

Parry: 11| Toughness: 15 (6)| RATN: 8| Pace: 8 (d10)| ISP: 7| Bennies 3/3

Now that his friends have (mostly) congregated within melee range of the beast, Toshiro seizes his chance.

As he looks in horror at the lightning fizzling harmlessly against the dragon's skin, he nevertheless calls to the same spirits.\

"Kami of sea and sky, lightning and tempest, bless my companions!" he calls. The lightning bolts once meant to strike the dragon instead divert to his allies, doing no harm but quickening their reflexes and lightening their movements.

So Toshiro and everyone within 30 feet of the dragon get Hasted. This should at least catch Johann, Fox, and Ihrin who are engaged in melee with it/ Not sure about Mwikali, and it definitely doesn't hit Habiba or Lucius.

Parry: 11| Toughness: 15 (6)| RATN: 8| Pace: 8 (d10)| ISP: 7| Bennies 3/3

After making sure he is protected from fire, with thanks to the man in the big hat, Toshiro waits for the dragon to come.

Spotting it on the horizon, he casts his Fly spell and ascends into the air for a closer look. His brow furrows as he takes in the creature.

"...That is not a dragon. It's just a big winged lizard." he says. He says, frowning, but the look turns to one tinged with fear as it gets closer.

"It's so massive! Not quite as big as Gojira, but it flies. How do you fight such a thing?"

This last is not an idle question; he asks it to the air, and cocks his head as he waits for a response.

"Hai. Good idea." he says to the spirits consulting him, and drifts toward it, getting as close as he dares to the enormous fire breathing beast. He had intended to imbue his companions with speed, but they'd spread so far, he decided to take a different approach.

Flying up to within 190 feet of the beast, casting Empowered Call Lightning.

Will: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26

Sacred Geometry: 9d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2, 1, 6, 1, 2, 4) = 25

4*6/2*1+2-3*4+1+2=47, success.

Raising his hands, he fights through the magically induced fear and begins chanting, calling on the spirits of the sky to strike down the foreign being!

Spell resistance: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

This probably fails.

Toshiro spends much of his time either crafting fetishes to aid the party, or wandering Rome, taking in the strange people and architecture.

He tries to talk to as many people as possible, though often hits bottlenecks with his Tongues spell wearing off.

Of particular interest to him are the strange religion that so fervently grips many of his party, and the astonishing prevalence of stone in the construction of buildings.

"I do not understand. What is Hell?"

Assuming someone explains the general concept, his eyes widen.

"Oh! Yes, that is very bad. It sounds much like Naraka, though the kami would not allow it to intrude here. But my people..." he says, looking around at the bustling inn. He shakes his head.

"No. They can take care of themselves now in my absence. I hope. Maybe this is even what the spirits sent me to do? The Shogun was evil, but his reach so small. Yes, that must be it."

"Yes, we should go to this Rome and slay the...Anti-Christ? Do I understand correctly?"

I'm guessing that skill check is plenty to appraise you of my conditions: fatigued, shaken, and sickened. Well, there is a negative level, also, but that one is from the cursed cape, not from the jorogumo's poisons and enchantments.

The Fox lies back down on the bed without protesting. He really does not feel well.
I've always wanted to see an animist shaman in action! You're able to get rid of these conditions because you see them as personified spirits that can be talked down, right?

Correct! And moving into Flashback mode:

Toshiro is saddened, but not surprised by the Fox's poor condition. The small black tendrils of fear feed the blanket of tiredness and burrowing worms of illness around his stomach. The pall laying over all is a suppression of Fox's spirit, a malevolent shadow that grins faintly at Toshiro from Fox's collar.

"These are minor ailments, but the accumulation of them has the potential to fester into something much darker. We are lucky we got here when we did; a common cold could be deadly in your current state."

Toshiro clasps his hands together and beseeches the small spirits.

"This kitsune has suffered enough, and is not worthy of your presence to start. Surely there is someone more deserving for you to inflict your pain on?" he asks.

Though these spirits are not powerful enough to speak, they clearly understand his words, and drift off through the wall of the tower into the world beyond.

Undead are immune to mind-affecting. Thankfully, via the power of PLANTS Toshiro (not Abe...that's his surname) has something they're decidedly not immune to.

Toshiro, still red faced, attempts to act nonchalant. "It is my duty to aid those in need, and protect them from monsters like the former shogun. And this...creature." he says upon spotting the Baykok.

This spell may be a bit of a waste on a single creature, but who knows how many other undead we'll fight today, and Toshiro has his dander up.

Toshiro clasps his hands together as if in prayer, and closes his eyes for a moment.

"I am sorry, little plants," he says to the decorative vegetation around the palace interior [b]"But I need your help removing this abomination, and laying its spirit to rest. Will you lend me that power?"[b] he asks, and waits a moment for the response.

Apparently, he gets it, because he nods his head sharply, and abruptly unleashes a blast of pure, white energy from between his now-outstretched palms, briefly illuminating the tower in its passing.

Casting Life Blast, a 150 ft. line that kills all vegetation within 45 feet of me and deals 9d6 Positive Energy damage to undead. It does NOT heal the living, but it DOES pass through walls, so if there are any other undead within 150 feet behind the Baykok in another room, they are also blasted.

To clarify, Johann, Mwikali and PusInBoots have raced ahead upstairs (D) to the second floor, where they were ambushed by 2 baykoks (I), while Ihrin, Algoral, Lord Perpireen, Habiba and Toshiro remained downstairs to deal with ninja (F and G) and free the captive geisha (H). Ignoring the baykoks, Johann busts through ricepaper walls and doors (T) into an armory (M), and is about to bust on through into an antechamber (N), while Mwikali and PusInBoots deal with the baykoks, and the others begin to move up the stairs to the second level (D to I), to help finish off the remaining baykok...

Ah, that explains part of my confusion; I THOUGHT we were in the Baykok fight since the Geisha (who we are with) needed to save against their ability. If we are not directly in combat for those two turns:

Toshiro takes a moment to respectfully examine Meiko.

"Miss, is it okay if I perform a quick medical examination on you? To be sure it is safe for you to travel? If you are okay to walk, I can send a companion to lead you out of the palace and somewhere safe."

Toshiro holds his action, interested to see how these gaijin fare against the attacking ninja.

Fearing ambush, Toshiro beseeches the spirits to enhance his hearing, and shield his body.

Casting Echolocation and False Life. I now have Blindsight 40 ft. and 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 temp HP.

"Now that Yoshinori is defeated, I wonder how much of his foul court remains to be purged? I had known he was evil, but to be a creature from beyond the veil in disguise is more than I'd feared. Who knows what else may lie in wait for us?"

Tired of plugging everything into Translate; makes it a PITA to post on mobile. Just assume Toshiro speaks Japanese.

"In a manner of speaking. I am mostly just a conduit for the kami's power."

Toshiro takes a moment, touches Ihrin, and with no apparent magical gestures or effects, she is simply...healed.

Heal: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (12) + 28 = 40

I spend a Full Round action, and due to some really interesting feats from recent books, she is healed by 58 HP.

"Anata wa anata no saigo no iki o sutta, Yoshinori! Anata no zangyaku kōi no tōchi wa koko de owarimasu!"

Any Language, since Tongues:
"You have breathed your last breath, Yoshinori! Your reign of cruelty ends here!"

Toshiro calls upon the spirits of his land to smite the evil creature.

"Kono aku o tochi kara katadzuke nasai! Jōka no honō de kare o issō shi nasai!" he cries

Same:
"Cleanse this evil from the land! Purge him with purifying flame!"

Calculating the exact place to order the kami to attack intensifies the blast!

Sacred Geometry for Maximized Fireball.

Engineering: 9d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 2, 3, 6, 6, 5, 5) = 36

5*5=25+5=30+6+6=42+3=45+2=47-2+2=47, Prime Constant achieved.

DC 20 reflex save for half damage (54 Fire damage).

Are there any plans to offer a compilation of all the Season 0 scenarios in one book? I'm not sure how many others joined late, but I would love to buy all the old scenarios in one big group.

Liberty's Edge

I did, and my receipt shows it on there as a line item, but it's not in My Downloads. There were also no directions on where to go to download it. Anyone get it yet?

Also, the email that my account is setup with is the same one the receipt was sent to.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I know it is kinda common sense, but I can't find in the book where it says a character can only play a scenario once. And can you play it a second time with a 2nd character?

I thought I remember reading somewhere that you can play it only once. But when another player asked me where it said that, I couldn't find it.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

Just started playing Pathfinder Society at Gencon and I am looking to either start or join a group to run the Society events. Let me know if you are in the area and need a player or if you are a player looking for a group.

Grand Lodge

I played some Pathfinder at Gencon and really got interested in learning more about it. Anyone playing it from the Milwaukee area? Any groups looking for more players? Somewhere else I should be posting this?

Thanks for any info.
