The Ogon Fox wrote:

Seeing the terrible dragon now flying with all speed directly for that great champion of God, the Fox speaks up to his companions. "No! I fear the Bishop Vitelleschi, mighty as he is, may not stand for long if the dragon gets close to sink its teeth into him." His face grows resolute. "My friends, we must do what we can to harry the beast."

With that, the Fox begins ascending into the air as fast as Quinlan's magic will carry him. He aims to be in a position to draw the dragon off of its current course.

He begins to taunt their great foe, speaking in Draconic, and twists the word "wyrm" into "worm" the way that every dragon hates. "What ho! LITTLE RED WORM! What got into your head that you think you can go about unaccosted in the wider world? Worms are quite low on the food chain, you know! Let's see, how many steps would it be from you to me? The worm is eaten by the fowl, that's one. Then the fowl is eaten by the fox. That's two! I guess it isn't that many, but I'm still two steps above you, little worm!"

Ascending to within 300 feet of Wormwood, perspective begins to impact Fox's perceptions and emotional reaction to this evil, chaotic, gargantuan engine of destruction... So much bigger than its prey... Merciless... Ravenous... Stinking of sulfur and brimstone, of the Pit...

All who come within 300 feet and who aren't immune to fear must roll a Will save, DC 27, or be affected by the dragon's frightful presence!

After making sure he is protected from fire, with thanks to the man in the big hat, Toshiro waits for the dragon to come.

Spotting it on the horizon, he casts his Fly spell and ascends into the air for a closer look. His brow furrows as he takes in the creature.

"...That is not a dragon. It's just a big winged lizard." he says. He says, frowning, but the look turns to one tinged with fear as it gets closer.

"It's so massive! Not quite as big as Gojira, but it flies. How do you fight such a thing?"

This last is not an idle question; he asks it to the air, and cocks his head as he waits for a response.

"Hai. Good idea." he says to the spirits consulting him, and drifts toward it, getting as close as he dares to the enormous fire breathing beast. He had intended to imbue his companions with speed, but they'd spread so far, he decided to take a different approach.

Flying up to within 190 feet of the beast, casting Empowered Call Lightning.

Habiba stares at the creature and curses her inability to fly.

She bides her time, climbing to the top of the tallest building she can find and waits for the beast to fly low enough to fling spells at.

If given time, quaffs the fire protection potions offered and casts Shield and Mirror Image. Climbs to the top of a tower or something that could get me within at least medium Range (190 feet) of the dragon.

I doubt it will matter, however. If the creature's AC is 36+, its SR is probably 30-ish too, meaning Toshiro I think auto-fails any check and Habiba MAYBE succeeds on a 19-20.

As the dragon nears, Johann stands next to Fox and sees the scene unfolding just as he feared. The Cardinals arrows bounce right off.

He talks in a subdued voice. "You are welcome, friend Fox. You are also welcome for that time I saved you in the catacombs, and then from your assassins at the concert, and then the time against the first dragon, and that the time on boat, and of course, that time against the demons."

You may be suspicious that Bear is now just making stuff up.

"And to think when, we first met, I wanted to kill you. A Fox killed my brother, you know. 'Never trust a Fox' is how I grew up. And here we are. Now I only want to kill you half the time!" He pats the Ogon Fox hard on the shoulders and Fox feels himself go two inches down into the dirt.

"Now shall we fight side by side, Foxy old chum?"

Bear drinks his fire potions, gets fly from Quinlan, and shoots off into the air with Fox. Any to-hit buffs, would be wonderful, friends! We need them badly. I am pretty sure I can't hit without a natural 20, and I have a strength of 22, full BAB, and a +3 weapon. Perhaps after this round we all retreat, regroup, and get bless, heroism, and anything else that would help. Also, any debuffs that pull down his AC are needed. Debuffs against his to-hit won't help. He will hit us on a natural 2, most likely.

In the air, Bear transforms into his hulking ursine shape, and he roars! For Rome and the Pope. For the Fox and my friends. For the Black Forest!

He flies forward and attempts to claw and grapple the dragon!

Now that his friends have (mostly) congregated within melee range of the beast, Toshiro seizes his chance.

As he looks in horror at the lightning fizzling harmlessly against the dragon's skin, he nevertheless calls to the same spirits.\

"Kami of sea and sky, lightning and tempest, bless my companions!" he calls. The lightning bolts once meant to strike the dragon instead divert to his allies, doing no harm but quickening their reflexes and lightening their movements.

So Toshiro and everyone within 30 feet of the dragon get Hasted. This should at least catch Johann, Fox, and Ihrin who are engaged in melee with it/ Not sure about Mwikali, and it definitely doesn't hit Habiba or Lucius.

He moved so as not to be a target.

"You see you should have said you where a servant just doing the work set for him by his master. Yours name I am sorry to say will be used for pets and other such beasts of burden. Good old Wormwood the Donkey, they will be saying."

"But Ryū the great underworld dragon who was the master of his own fate and it will be the great Dragon Ryū who will rule in the land of Myth and dream. His name and not yours will be legend and held in stories for all time. A shame, you seem greater then he, yet you lack the will to be more than you are"

Only the spells cast upon him give Johann the ability to avoid some of the fire blast, and his resistance surely do protect him more... Johann emerges unscathed.

141 reduced to 70 by reflex save, and then the two potions absorb the rest, though his 60 fire protection is gone now.

The power of the dragon is too much, though. Johann is a wise creature. He retreats from the dragon and heads back to the ground. Better to live to fight another day.

Fox is right, I forgot SR. Let's see if it even has to make the save:

Caster Level: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Nope.

Habiba slumps as her best...no, BETTER than her best magic meets the same fate as all lesser spells thrown at it.

I don't know what to do against this creature. There has to be SOMETHING that can faze it. Right?

She thinks for a moment.

Well, there's no guarantee there's even anything to affect, but dragons casts spells, right? Maybe I can dispel one.

She looks at Wormwood, and attempts to override any magics that might be on him.

Dispel magic: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

And fails miserably, as before.

Unless he has a CL 3 spell cast on him for whatever reason.
