I have the crunch ready for Bron Frostbreath. Will wait a bit for the fluff to have a bit more info on the world, though the basics are that he's a miner who shows some connection with the protactive and soothing sides of the dark alleys back in the mines.

I know, he's a 1st level Sorcerer. I promise he'll go Cleric from now on.

This seems to have moved from an interest to a recruitment. Is there a deadline?

Apparently, it has. Well, I am still working on the first major combat/plot so if any who are here wish to weave a story I'm game. Like I said no more than 7 max.

I will probably say then that I'll do a two week period starting tomorrow. Wait that is close to the 4th in the states so make it two weeks from Monday the 4th

weave a story together. Is what I meant to say. Which would be some of you all bouncing ideas off each other.

I will say some of the factions will come into play. Also, there will be slavers and slaves. I tend to borrow from a lot of older modules and whatnot, so if you find something familiar it just might be!

Sounds good

So Bron's father was a miner. Bron's grandfather was a miner. His family has had a story with mines for centuries. Of course, Bron ended up working in the mine. But he found more than just ore and gas.

He discovered he felt good and safe hidden in the depths, among the corridors and in dim light or just plain darkness. The absence of light, usually fearful and dangerous to others, was comforting to him, and he was proud to be able to help his comrades in the mine thanks to the special connection he has developed with the dusky underground halls.

Eventually, this connection started to materialize. He experimented some changes and discovered special gifts that he was bestowed upon. He embraced the church of Moradin with devotion, following the commandments of protecting his peers and giving them comfort. Where others followed the forge, he followed the earth from where to get the ore. Where others followed the fire, he followed the night time bringing rest and the dark bringing defence. He had a dream of using his gifts for the good of his community, and entered the cult as an acolyte.

Opportunity would arise before he had a chance to be ordained, though. A new settlement was to be found, an expedition was prepared, and some miners were to be sent, many of them well known to him. He went as a volunteer, asking for special permission to go on the mission.

Bron is not a very talkative guy, since he's spent much time alone in the dark mine tunnels back in his homeland. Saying this when you talk about a Dwarf is saying a lot, of course. Still, his background in the mine has taught him companionship, and he knows how to play for the team - even if he sometimes claims his five minutes of glory.

A band of merry... err, grumpy... dwarves! What's not to love. Let's see what the dice have to say!

rolls:

5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 1, 6) = 21 = 6,5,3,6 = 17
8d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6, 1, 1, 2, 3) = 21 = 3,3,6,3 = 12
7d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 2, 6, 1, 3) = 19 = 3,3,6,3 = 12
6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 2, 4, 6) = 25 = 6,6,4,6 = 18
5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 3, 6) = 17 = 4,3,6,4 = 14
10d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 5, 2, 6, 5) = 29 = 4,5,6,5 = 16

set: 18, 17, 16, 14, 12, 12

Great set, I am thinking a mountain dwarf ranger. Admittedly, I am not the most versed in 5e, but it will be fun to dive in to some research.

Liberty's Edge

There's a BEER domain. I am stunned, yet also feel like I shouldn't be the least bit surprised.

Liberty's Edge

stat rolls:
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 4) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 5) = 18 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 5) = 21 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 5) = 15 reroll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 4 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14 reroll 1s: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 4) = 15 reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 2 reroll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 3 14

so four 14s, a 15 and a 17, if I read the rolling rules correctly. Hard to go wrong with an array like that--well-rounded, room for growth, plenty of space to minmax if needed...hmmm. I could do literally anything with that...

@Daynen: Third roll shouldn't be 6+6+5=17?

Partial update.

The group is going to meet with a scouting group. They have secured the mine and the miners that were there. You are going to take a look through the mine, as you have a mission related to strange occurrences happening deeper down, at night.

The Outlying town is in the early stages of going from hovels to homes. The mines are well taken care of and is basically under an old 'guardhouse' that seems to be an old fort.

Excellent!

The recruitment is officially active, It will be a fortnight until it closes. So post your characters here. I believe I already have three

I believe I'm currently involved in all of the games I can handle at the moment, so I will withdraw from any further submission.

Good luck to the applicants!

Liberty's Edge

Whoops, good catch Jereru; I was drowsy. So four 14s and two 17s then.

Liberty's Edge

Oh, I completely forgot to ask: DM, are you okay with me using myth-weavers for my sheet? I can put a link to it right in my posts easily enough.

I mean is it free for me to view?

Yeah it's free, at least for the basic stuff (view and create sheets). Idk if it has some advanced features you need to pay for, but I've never paid.

Cool as long as it's free

Liberty's Edge

yeah it's free for all the stuff I utilize. I can just throw the link right in, like, the race line of the profile so it's right there in the name header of my posts. One click, easy peasy.

Alright, crunchy bits are pretty much in place. Fluff is coming together but it's been...a tiring week.

EDIT: since the sheet link isn't showing up yet, presumably because I'm not actually in the game, this is Daynen's submission: a Dwarf Spore Sorceress. After reviewing the options you made available, GM, I read up on this one and just couldn't pass up the chance to basically double my spell lists. The flavor gave me some fun for fluff too; looking forward to playing this one out.

I believe I have 4 submissions so far

Mine is ready, it's linked up above.

I submitted my mage a while ago. Did not hear anything that needed changing, so can I assume he is OK for the time??

I believe I have two Wizards, and Two Sorcerers one of which will go into cleric? or Warlock?

I didn't see anything wrong at the time. I'll review it again closer to the end of recruitment, and then if picked I'll give any weird extra notes or minor fixes.

I would like to do a bit of brainstorming after selections to build a collaborative story with each member. THat way we can do some interesting RP bits and combats as well as goals.

Yep, my character is Sorcerer 1 / Cleric X.

Liberty's Edge

Awesome, thanks. Looking forward to getting started (if picked!)

Hey, collaborative storytelling is why we're here, isn't it? I'm up for it. Already know a few broad strokes of my story, but I can work out details as a group for sure.

Are you counting my Artificer among the candidates? Profile is linked on Page one somewhere.

Grand Lodge

I forgot

Everybody okay out there? Got real quiet in here...

poke poke...

Gonna extend the recruitment out a bit longer say another two weeks

Everyone still here? Hope we all just have our noses to the grindstone or somesuch...be a shame to see this one die in the crib.

I will wait until monday, but If I don't get anymore recruits I may have to call it and wait for a later date

Yeah, a pity.

Liberty's Edge

How many submissions are there?? How many were you looking for?? I thought we had plenty...how unfortunate :-(

Grand Lodge

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 6) = 21
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2) = 12
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 2) = 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) = 17
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1) = 10
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 1) = 9

reroll: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
reroll: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Seems like a solid set of rolls and rerolls! I think we might need a front line, so I'll look into that and start creating something!

Grand Lodge

Oops, I mussed up the math!
Here are the proper numbers after rerolls and racials.

17 STR: 19 (17 + 2)
14 DEX: 14
14 CON: 16 (14 + 2)
13 INT: 13
14 WIS: 14
12 CHA: 12

Wondering which background and class to play with at the moment, but should have something in the next 12ish hours, but thinking of a front line because it looks like we have a few spellcasters.

I might throw my hat into the ring if you still need players to get the game started.

Stat 1: 6d6 - 5 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3) - 5 = 11 Not a good start. I'm assuming reroll 1 & 2 once.
Stat 2: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 5) - 3 = 13
Stat 3: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 4) - 3 = 14
Stat 4: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 5) - 3 = 11
Stat 5: 5d6 - 4 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 3, 3) - 4 = 11
Stat 6: 5d6 - 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6, 1) - 3 = 12

Hmm, the dice gods seem to be telling me I shouldn't be in this game.

So far we got the following

Daniel Stewart- Willim the Wizard (Wizard)
Dynen- Amber Brewbane(Sorcerer)
Jereru-Bron Frostbreath(Sorcerer)
Scabford-Morkam Steelfist(Artificer)

It's still open I wanna see where this goes

Willim the Wizard - Daniel Stewart - Wizard
Morkam Steelfist - scranford - Artificer
Bron Frostbreath - Jereru - Sorcerer→Cleric
Amber Brewbane - Daynen - Sorcerer
? - mishima - ?
? - Michael_Hopkins - Frontliner?
? - AGamer70 - ?

Alright, so we have mishima and AGamer70 which got very unlucky rolls. Maybe the GM is up for letting them reroll?

As for roles, I see Amber Brewbane has 20 Strength. Maybe she plans on going Paladin? And the Artificer could also choose between going melee or ranged, any thoughts on that, Morkan Steelfist?

Technically, the wizard could also go melee, but idk if these were Willim's thoughts. Were they?

Rerolls if allowed:

a: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 3) = 6
b: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 3) = 17
c: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 6) = 20
d: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 4) = 15
e: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 3) = 15
f: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 4) = 18

Rerolls a: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1) = 9
Rerolls a: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Rerolls a: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Rerolls d: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Rerolls e: 1d6 ⇒ 3

12.14.16.16.14.16

I can whip something up with those, if ok with Critz.

Sure I'd allow it

Morkan can go either way. Thought I'd wait to see what the party needed before making that decision. Both have neat options.

@DM - thanks for the offer.

Stat 1: 6d6 - 3 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 5, 1, 4) - 3 = 14
Stat 2: 5d6 - 5 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 6, 3) - 5 = 15
Stat 3: 6d6 - 3 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 1, 6, 1) - 3 = 18
Stat 4: 6d6 - 4 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 2, 6, 1) - 4 = 15
Stat 5: 5d6 - 4 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 1, 3) - 4 = 13
Stat 6: 6d6 - 4 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 1) - 4 = 12

Certainly better than the first set and workable. Although that was a lot of 1's. Twice as many as would be expected - granted it was a small pool.

@mishima - What are you working on? I'd rather not duplicate if possible. I can go skilled or melee/ranged.

Liberty's Edge

I think maybe I might change to a Warlock (Hexblade) instead of Magic User.
