This started out as an interest check post and since I recently read through the module I figured why not run with it.
My idea would be to keep it to the PHB for everything (classes, races, equipment, feats, spells... you get the picture) due to the overwhelming volume of splat material that is out there.
Stats would be 2d6+6 keep them as they lay. Roll stats then pick class/race
Max starting Gold and HP, roll for HP every level after.
This would be for 4 PCs. Maybe 5... maybe
Background: This can be as simple or elaborate as you want them to be. Minimum 2 positive and 1 negative characteristics/traits.
Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Looks like a cleric or a druid.
This will be a quick turn around - Submission Deadline: Noon Saturday Central From there I will pick out the 4 PCs by Sunday afternoon and we will launch the game next Monday, March 7th

AGM Lemming |

Hmm.... Checking the numbers:
Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Pretty good numbers except for Wisdom.
So, Halfling Paladin maybe? Nah! Not with the 10 Wisdom.
Bard? or Rogue? Sorcerer?
Half-Orc or Human and Barbarian might be fun too.
I'll think about it and keep watching the thread.

Dexterity: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
Constitution: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
Intelligence: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
Wisdom: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Charisma: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
Looks like a burly cleric to me, or maybe a paladin.
Just to clarify: Are we building using the PF1 Core Rulebook, or the 3.5 Player's Handbook?
Also, are racial modifiers applied to the stats, as usual?

Kriznox Haab |

Strength: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

Wisdom: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
Charisma: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Looks like a Wizard, or possibly a Cleric or Druid to me.
Seconding the question just to be clear: 3.5 or PF1?
Always go with 5 characters...just in case someone drops. IMHO

Mr Clint's Sunless Citadel |

Great questions and I apologize that I was not clear. When I said to list a couple characteristics/traits for a background I did not mean traits and drawbacks. I just meant list two positive: optimistic and Humble, and one negative: Greedy. Just a way to help guide how the character will be played and RPd.
The game is set in Greyhawk. We are going to use D&D 3.5 PHB book for everything, including deities.

Mr Clint's Sunless Citadel |

@Kriznox Sorry I didn't reply to this. I will more than likely pick 5 for that very reason.
@Reckless Those familiar with Sunless Citadel know that this is a classic dungeon crawl. With that, I will be keeping things to a once a day posting rate to help keep things moving. I will be rolling initiatives individually, but the PCs who are grouped together can act at anytime together.
This is from the Strange Aeons game I am running.
Initiative: Round 2
Slip
Chatty
Doc
Vex
Blue
Ghouls
Angry
Rook
So, Slip/Chatty/Doc/Vex/Blue all go first and can act in any order.
I'll do the ghouls once the PCs go.
Then Angry/Rook can act before we go to the next round.
because of how I will be doing combat rounds, not everyone will be posting everyday. It all depends on people checking and taking their turn.
When it is out of combat, I would like to see everyone joining me in a once a day posting rate.
No requirements for weekends, I will still check on the weekends and continue forward momentum. But, I also know people are busy on the weekends.

Meiril Malwood. Is a young half elf seeking his way in the world. His mother was an eleven noble who fell in love with a human woodsmen. His elevn grandfather didn't see eye to eye with him after his parents died unexpectedly in an orc raid. He gave Meiril some gold and sent him on his way not to return. He perhaps is too easy to trust new companions and lost some gold when he fell asleep in an inn because he asked the innkeeper to watch his belongings.

Mr Clint's Sunless Citadel |

For those who want help with pulling their character into the world here are a few bits of info.
Oakhurst is a small town that is the closest to the Sunless Citadel. It is a conventional community NG with the population of 901. Humans make up 79% and the next closest is Halflings 9%, Elves 5%, dwarfs 3%, gnomes 2%, half-elf 1%, half-orc 1%.
Authority Figures: Mayor Vurnor Leng, human male.
Important Characters: Kerowyn Hucrele (merchant), Dem "Corkie" Nackle (Cleric of Pelor), Felosial (Constable), Ben, Lu, Jim & Roda (deputies), Rurik Lutgehr (Blacksmith), Garon (Ol' Boar Inn Barkeep)
Character Hooks
You are eager to make a name for yourself. The legend of the Sunless Citadel is well known locally, and stories indicate it is a perfect site for heroes intent on discovery, glory, and treasure!
Another party of adventurers, locally based, delved into the Sunless Citadel a month past. They were never seen again. Two human members of that ill-fated adventuring party were brother and sister, Talgen Hucrele and Sharwyn Hucrele. They were part of an important merchant family based in the town of Oakhurst. Kerowyn hurdle, the matriarch of the family, offers salvage rights to you and your team if you can find and return with the two lost members of her family - or at least return the gold signet rings worn by the missing brother and sister. She also offers a reward of 125 GP per signet ring, per PC. If the PCs bring back the Hucreles in good shape (of good mind and body), she offers to double the reward.
The goblin tribe infesting the nearby ruins (Sunless Citadel) ransoms a single piece of magical fruit to the highest bidder in Oakhurst once every midsummer. They've been doing this for the last twelve years. Usually, the fruit sells for around 50 GP, which is all the townspeople can bring themselves to pay a goblin.
The fruit, apparently an apple of perfect hue, heals those who suffer from any disease or other ailment. They sometimes plant the seeds at the center of the fruit, hoping to engender an enchanted apple tree. When the sees germinate in their proper season, they produce a twiggy mass of twisted sapling stems. Not too long after the saplings reach 2 feet in height, they are stolen - every time. The townsfolk assume that the jealous goblins send out thieves to ensure their monopoly of enchanted fruit.
You are interested in piercing the mystery associated with how wretched goblins could ever possess such a wonder, and how they steal every sprouting sapling grown from the enchanted fruit's seed. Moreover you wish to find this rumored tree of healing, hoping to heal an ailing friend or relative. You build this into your background

Alden Cooperson |

The 'Solving a Mystery' hook works well for a Paladin of Heironeous. After all, the apples were legally purchased, and the seeds within them were the rightful property of their owners, as were the saplings that grew from those seeds. Theft of rightfully purchased property is bad, but the fact that the fruit has healing properties, and that people are suffering because of those thefts is unconscionable. These perpetrators need to be found and the saplings returned!

Never played 3.5 but would be interested in playing. Looks like I can use an SRD for the rules. Will try to put something together by the deadline.

I see you have a wardog as your animal companion. Is that the same as the dog from the Player's Handbook? If not, could you switch to the dog? We are going to just stick with everything coming from the Players Handbook. Thank you
