Starfinder Society: Year 6 Announcement

The Starfinder Society stands proud and united, yet trouble gathers on the horizon. When a mysterious and powerful criminal syndicate, dubbed the Organization, enacts a bloody attack within the Pact Worlds, First Seeker Ehu Hadif vows to bring an end to their predations. Yet, this attack is only the opening salvo in a plot destined to doom millions. It’s up to you to unravel the plans of the Organization and bring the group’s leaders to justice! Will the Starfinder Society emerge triumphant, or will the Organization be our downfall?

Welcome to the Year of Fortune’s Fall!

There are seven Starfinder Society Scenarios that directly influence the Year of Fortune’s Fall metaplot. Like last year, each will be marked with a special metaplot icon on the cover.

The Year of Fortune’s Fall metaplot kicks off with Starfinder Society Intro: Year of Fortune’s Fall, an adventure for 1st- to 4th-level characters written by Mahpiya. This exciting scenario is centered on a gala celebration hosted by the Grand Museum of Qabarat on Castrovel. This scenario debuts at PaizoCon 2023, alongside one other Starfinder Society Scenario.

With the launch of Year 6, the following species will become “always available” for Organized Play: gnoll, hanakan, kiirinta, quorlu, raxilite, and shimreen. Four other species will become purchasable with Achievement Points: kobold, psyacnoid, scyphozoan, and uplifted bear. Additionally, many species that were showcased in Starfinder Interstellar Species, such as contemplative and urog, will have their AcP cost reduced.

Finally, I'm pleased to announce that candidates for the upcoming First Seeker election have been selected. We’re excited to reveal these candidates and their ambitious goals in the near future. Stay tuned!

"The Pact Worlds Health Organization?"

No, the Organization!

"The Interstellar Trade Organization?"

No, the criminal Organization!

"Oh, AbadarCorp?"

No, the secret and actually illegal criminal Organization!

"Oh, yeah, the Golden League!"

No, these guys are a foreign threat Organization!

"Oh, the Vekarium's Department of Disloyal Organizations."

No, no, you don't get it.

"Why don't you just tell me the organization's name?"

It's called the Organization, that is its name!

"That's just stupid, tell me their real name."

There may be a canonical reason why that's their "name"...for now...

"Because we literally don't know their name because they are secretive jerks who make sure nobody can interrogate them" :'D

My question is will the Starfinder Society ever be able recover from all these hits to their reputation?

I don’t want to work for an organization that is a spawning ground for secret societies.

Nothing here says the Organization is from our organization. It might just be that the organization known as the Starfinder Society has decided to organize against the organization known as the Organization for reasons of patriotism, self interest, charity, or organizational pressures.

Maybe you're supposed to combat the Organization via a prolonged campaign of consistent Disorganization.

Yay new seasons, new options, and new metaplot! Is that a kasatha, or a witchwyrd, in the art? I think kasatha have >3 fingers, so presumably a witchwyrd?

I'm also getting curious about the presumptive 5-99! If the season 6 storyline kicks off in the s6 Intro, then presumably 5-99 will be a metaplot-unrelated interactive special, like 4-99 was? Maybe it'll be in the vein of a Drift Crisis 'closer,' like 4-99 was sort of a Drift Crisis 'opener'! Ooh, I'm getting excited!

For now, I will be content with my existing admittance boon upgrading to a stat boost when the new season kicks off. That's exactly the kind of motivation I need to get my space moth priest of the space moth goddess back into the rotation.

Of course, whether bringing more people "to the light" is advisable for mystical moths remains to be seen, but that's what his other boon is for!

Season 5 was an interesting journey of managing my expectations. So, is this it? In Season 6, will we finally pull back the curtain on...

So far scenarios that most hint about Organization are:
5-11 and 5-13

I mean, there was literally an authoritarian regime called "the Organization" in charge of dystopian future Earth in a book series I'm using as game inspiration. That said: said regime's role, in my actual game, will be played by the Azlanti Star Empire.

Year 5's approach to the Organization was an interesting journey for me.

I went in hoping that we might finally resolve the...

Spoiler:
...dangling "Board of Directors" conspiracy from Year 1.

And for a time it seemed like that might happen, but increasingly it appeared that...

Spoiler:
...the Board of Directors/Organization was ultimately just a small team of corrupt Starfinders covering their tracks.

But now, as of the recent releases and updates, it's swerved back to...

Spoiler:
...the sense that the bunch of bad apples at the heart of Year 5 are just one small (though perhaps foundational) aspect of the Organization.

Went into this season thinking we might wrap up an old storyline. Instead, realized that, like Year 3, Year 5 is a transitional season setting up a major foe to be faced next time!

One and a half. (Season 1 debut at GenCon, but Season 2 was delayed to debut at Origins IIRC)

I've gotta keep the Stabrisis-14 Defence Squadron in the air, before the Ysokis kick us out of the Mirrormaw Military Training Facility for Small Species.

I'm sure Cadet Squadron "Desna's Shooting Stars" will be ready to graduate soon. Maybe... Hopefully...

Datch won't cause anymore holy wars in the mean time, right? ;)
