Dot! Thanks for the invite, Eltonj.

Maia Blackwing |

Greetings all, looking forward to this game!
It looks like I’m the only full BAB character, but I’m currently built more for skills… I’m very sneaky, and pretty decent at picking both pockets and locks (though I can’t do magical traps until 3rd level). My damage will be alright at low levels just because I get 2 (natural) attacks each round, but I won’t really be able to keep up with a normal 2-handed build for long at all. At 7th my claw/talon damage improves slightly and I gain 1d6 sneak attack damage (and, hopefully will have an agile amulet of mighty fists), so I’ll catch up a little bit but then I start falling behind again. Hopefully with 2-3 other melee types we’ll be ok but if people are worried I could (with GM permission) build out one of my other 2 concepts pretty quickly (either a straight fighter who’d be tougher and deal more damage, or a Str-based shifter with VMC barbarian who wouldn’t be much more durable but would certainly do more damage and would still have some stealth/scouting skills)?

Lizbit Freewind |

We have a pretty fighty group. Should be OK. Front line will probably be kinda crowded lol

Alright lets get started.
It's morning in Arrabar. The Sun is rising. It rained during the night, and it is Spring. Although in a land like Chondath, it's coming to the end of the Rainy Season. The land just got it's drink of water.
You are staying at the Red Lady Inn, and are waking up. Your beds all have mosquito netting, and you've been sleeping soundly through the night. You feel protected at night. At least the mosquitoes haven't been eating you alive. As you wake up, describe your individual rooms and how they are arranged, and your clothing you put on, along with your decisions if you are going to have breakfast in the inn's common room or in your own room.
Remember, you haven't met yet.

Angoldil Luithoriel |

Angoldil made sure her hood hid her ears before leaving her room. A room she needed to figure out how to pay for before the next night. She needed a job and fast. Perhaps the staff of this establishment would know where a girl could earn a coin or two.
Entering the common room she looked for a member of the staff. "Hello, is there anyone here?"

In addition to the PM I sent DM, a few questions about whether some tweaks would be allowed:
1. Alternate Racial Traits.
I know they are in APG but they're an "alternate" system so I figured I would ask before I complete my build. Are you allowing them? Considering either Breath Weapon OR Fey Magic (though selecting Fey Magic would be dependent on the answer to my PM).
2. Ranger Archetypes.
This one I am pretty sure would be approved, but asking anyway just to be sure. I don't prefer an animal companion for my Ranger build so going with Spirit Ranger.
3. Regional Feats as Traits.
Regional Feats are generally only taken at first level and only one can be taken. There are two that I would like to take, if allowed, [I already selected Survivor, toying with the idea of taking Snake Blood] if not, one is fine and I will take a different trait instead. The second feat is tied, again, to the PM I sent so if that answer is no, I would probably not bother as it doesn't fit into the background I am brainstorming.
Thanks for the feedback!

I wanted regional feats to be interpreted as traits from the beginning.

Crunch is done but for the life of me I cannot find a mosquito net Gold Cost or weight. But let's assume I bought one!
Background is still being contemplated but here's my idea so far:
Zero memory of his early life, as long as he can remember he was a slave to a minor House of non pure blood Yuan Ti in Hlondeth. His vast array of "odd" abilities made him more useful as a slave than as a meal.
As he aged, his dwarven characteristics changed as he learned to adapt to situations he as placed in by the Yuan Ti. Knowing naught of the Gods, all Igneous could do was to pray to the moon, perhaps he would have prayed to the sun but he saw it so rarely, eventually Selune heeded his call.
10 years ago, he was sent out on a trading run but the ship got caught in a storm in the reach and Igneous washed ashore, barely alive. He was found by a Human Ranger, perhaps not so coincidentally worshipped Selune, who frequented the woods at the tip of the peninsula between Hlath and Reth.
Igneous after a few years parted ways with his mentor and moved along southeast along the Emerald Way. Arriving a year or so later in Arrabar with no money and no prospects he was recruited into the League of Lightning Mercenary Company serving 4 years to attain "citizenship" to the city, after all, if the youth of the city had to serve 4 years to be long, why shouldn't he? Compared to the horrors as a slave to the Yuan Ti, the work was easy.
Whether its his time as a slave or that his last name is slag, dwarves he encounters shun him. It seems that whoever his family was, was disgraced in some manner.
That service just ended yesterday... today, gameplay starts.

Racial Traits and Alternate Racial Traits:
--------------------------------------------------
Hardy - +2 Saves vs. Poison, Spells, & Spell Like Abilities
Fey Magic: The character has a mystic connection to one terrain type, selected from the ranger’s favored terrain list. The character selects three 0-level druid spells and one 1st-level druid spell. If the character has a Charisma score of 11 or higher, when in the selected terrain, she gains these spells as spell-like abilities that can be cast once per day. The caster level for these effects is equal to the user’s character level. The DC for the spell-like abilities is equal to 10 + the spell’s level + the user’s Charisma modifier. These spells are treated as being from a fey source for the purposes of the druid’s resist nature’s lure class feature and similar abilities. This trait replaces greed and stonecunning.
Darkvision 60’
Slag Child: Dwarves from dishonored families must append “-slag,” “-slagsun,” or “-slagdam” to their surnames to indicate their shameful status. These dwarves are commonly banished or ostracized; they are forced to eke out a living at the fringes of dwarven settlements or in bleak wilderness areas. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Stealth and Survival checks. This racial trait replaces defensive training and hatred.
Iron Citizen: Dwarves with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks, and Diplomacy is a class skill for such dwarves. This replaces stability.
Shadowhunter: Characters with this trait deal 50% weapon damage to incorporeal creatures when using non-magical weapons (including natural and unarmed attacks), as if using magic weapons. They also gain a +2 bonus on saving throws to remove negative levels, and recover physical ability damage from attacks by undead creatures at a rate of 2 points per ability score per day (rather than the normal 1 point per ability score per day). Dwarves can take this trait in place of weapon familiarity.
------------------------------
Class Features
------------------------------
Weapon and Armor Proficiencies - A ranger is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).
Favored Enemy - At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures.
First Favored Enemy – Humans
At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.
Track - A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks. TRACK +11
Wild Empathy - A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly. WILD EMPATHY +1
To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.
Spirit Ranger - Some rangers nurture a connection with the spirits that reside in all things. By communing with these spirits, the spirit Ranger can gain glimpses of things to come.
Spirit Bond (Ex) - At 4th level, instead of forming a bond with his hunting companions or an animal companion, the spirit Ranger forms a bond with the spirits of nature themselves. Each day, as long as he is within one of his favored terrains, the Ranger can cast augury as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to his Ranger level. In addition, he can call upon these spirits to cast any one Ranger spell that he is capable of casting, without having to prepare the spell. At 8th level, and every four levels thereafter, he can cast an additional spell in this way. Replaces Hunter’s Bond.
Wisdom of the Spirits (Sp) - At 12th level, the spirit Ranger can use his augury spell-like ability even when he is not in one of his favored terrains. If he is within one of his favored terrains, the Ranger can cast divination instead. Like augury, the caster level of the divination is equal to the Ranger’s level. Replaces Camoflouge.

Gotcha, I took your not saying no to my query above as a Yes! Permission versus forgiveness and all that. An easy enough fix!
Other than that, any other issues you see with the build? If not, I will swap out the Snake Blooded Trait for the Indomitable Faith Trait and I believe that he's done. I should be able to flesh out that short background this evening, in the meantime, I'll get a gameplay post in after I get my Avatar up.
Thanks again for letting me in at the last minute. I only briefly explored this region as a DM so it should be a lot of fun to do so as a PC.

Okay. Yeah, the region is very different from that of the Heartlands.

I've done campaigns in the North + Bloodstone Lands; Waterdeep with a jaunt to Maztica; the Heartlands with a jaunt to Westgate and some of the Historical Boxed Sets as time travel plots thrown in; and the Shining South with a jaunt to Halruaa so I've taken a spin around a great deal of the Realms as a DM. Much as I love most of the campaign settings, FR is the one I've spent the most time in.

I'll have Igneous' full background up over the weekend, too much work and family stuff to do this week to fully invest in writing it at the moment.

Lizbit Freewind |

I'm still here. Busy with a new client

Storyteller Shadow |

Lot of family and work time this weekend as it turned out. I'll get to my full background this weekend as my toddler will be with my mother in law and my daughter will be with my ex wife. The baby is a good sleeper so that should be enough breathing room this weekend to get that done.

He probably won't having RL issues based on a post I saw of his in a campaign he was DMing.
