Once Recruitment is completed and you have been invited, a link will be posted here to the slides for signup purposes.
After that it will just be a basic discussion thread.

GM TOP |

Alright, slides are HERE and in my header and at the top of the thread.
Please pop in there and fill out your information on pages one and two for play and reporting purposes. Don't worry about rolling for dayjobs, we can do those and any FJC goal rolling at the end of the scenario.

Three dotted in and two signed into the sheets document, so we are getting closer to being able to start!

GM TOP |

I’ll get a post up today, move us along. Just finished a rough four day work stretch.

![]() |

Was Corba so convincing that Grandmaster Torch lost his tongue? ;-)

GM TOP |

Nope, just got busy at home. I’ll get a post up soon.

GM TOP |

FYI I will be out of phone or Internet service from March 3-7. Posting May be spotty as well for a couple days before and after that. Getting outta the cold and trying a cruise.
We will pause the game and pick it up afterwards.

![]() |

Sorry guys, I really need to go to sleep right now. Will post tomorrow.

![]() |

Trying to find out what the shopkeeper wants and why he declines the implied offer.

Cruising. Game on hold for 5-ish days. Go ahead and keep posting though so everyone can respond to the current deal and let me know what the next statue target is going to be.

![]() |

These are the two that are left:
Buri Buri-Ban’s a Garundi fellow—pretty beefy. His favorite café fronts on Sengali square.
Saldin Marafi has a shop in the Secure Market. It’s toward the back in one of the more secure nooks. Good luck getting in there.
Also, remember that all of the statues come with a warning to not use magic around them and carry them in a thick bag. I wonder what would happen if they were put in a extradimensional space?

Update
Headed home, more than halfway. Should be able to setup the next scene at the cafe tomorrow when I get home and settled. It was a good trip.

Next Issue: Lethally striking an unarmed man (who is actually trying to help you, even though it may not appear to be so) appears to me to be an evil act. Are you sure you would like to do that? I am open to discussion on this topic if necessary.
In character, Shannon wouldn't know that the worker are trying to help. The GM might know that said Kelish guy is Aroden reincarnated and could lead to world peace if Shannon allow him to grapple her but Shannon won't know. How the scene was presented lead to me(as the player) believing that those men are conspirator of Buri-Ban, and are trying to stop and hurt us after Buri-Ban lead us into an ambush. There are many evil creatures whose ability work off a grapple as well, so I feel like using lethal force is justified.
If you disagree, then I would like to retcon the AoO to be non-lethal, taking a -4 to attack, if that's ok with you.

GM TOP |

I disagree for two reasons.
One, because Shannon (and the rest of the group) has made zero effort to determine what is written in the factory and what the workers are saying and why they are approaching and grappling.
Two, and this is the biggest one by far, lethal force is not a legal, ethical or moral response to a less than lethal attack. This is well codified in most legal systems around the world, fantasy and not. The scenarios you mentioned regarding ‘many evil creatures use grapples’ does not apply to this current self defense situation.
The retcon to NL is quite acceptable. I am actually surprised you did Lethal in the first place since you did NL against Buri-Ban.

![]() |

I actually though about whether I should make the AoO non-lethal or not, but I was trying to rush out of the door at that time. If gunslingers are legal in CORE campaign, I would have fire at the sky as warning, but since that isn't an option here and the worker fails to communicate to us, and I figured a roll of 2 might not hit anyway, so I left it in as a warning.

![]() |

To be fair, we are in the equivalent of an industrial area in the Middle East - expecting the local peasants to know English (Taldane = 'Common') is a bit of a stretch.
Or at least, I assume that is what the scenario writer was shooting for.
*shrugs*

GM TOP |

In retrospect regarding their actions, I coulda given or y’all coulda rolled a sense motive.
Anyway, the reason I gave the retcon and had the discussion was because of the ambiguity. I don’t want to level a severe consequence on a player without them being aware of the situation. This game can be tough enough sometimes.

We always drop off a statue by our VC everytime we get one
Actually, I do not think we dropped the last one off. But if it does not affect our success chances, I think it would be a good idea. The problem is that in the initial briefing it says "Time is of the essence—if Chaim’s buyer sells to others, the artifacts may quickly move beyond our grasp." so bringing each back may count as marks against us.

You did drop the second statue off. I narrated it as happening quickly to keep posts moving.
As long as you don’t stretch things into several days, the time is fine.

GM TOP |

Get yer day jobs rolled and faction journal crud asked about if ya got it! The scenario is technically finished. Chronicles might be completed Monday, if I have the brainpower and time for it.

![]() |

Day job roll:
Perform: Oratory, MW tool: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 2 = 30
Wow, 75 gold! That bullhorn was definitely worth its price! :-D

![]() |

Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Shirt reroll: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17

![]() |

Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Maybe Nasir will take kindly to a sour-looking Iomedaean standing grumpily in a corner of his shop, after all :D
Thank you very much for running, it was a lot of fun!

GM TOP |

You are welcome, I enjoy running these games.
There were a lot of moving parts here, so take a good look at your chronicles. I'll leave the game open for a couple days or until everyone has said their chronicle is good.

![]() |

Looks great, thanks for the game GM! I look forward to your next one.
Also, that's level 5 for me :)

![]() |

Well this is embarrassing. For some reason I've always thought cure light wounds was on the ranger spell list, so Iladora and a multiclassed-ranger of mine have both been using wands left and right. Like, for years I've been doing this. Moreover, not a single person has ever questioned it!
My bad.

Cure Light Wounds
Source PRPG Core Rulebook pg. 263
School conjuration (healing);
Level adept 1, alchemist 1, bard 1, cleric 1, druid 1, hunter 1, inquisitor 1, investigator 1, occultist 1, oracle 1, paladin 1, ranger 2, shaman 1, skald 1, spiritualist 1, warpriest 1, witch 1
It is on ranger's spell list but a level higher than you expect. But a ranger should still be able to use a wand of Cure Light Wound even if she's not 4th level, per Spell-Trigger Item rule
Chronicle sheet looks good! Thanks!

GM TOP |

Yeah, Shannon has it 100% correct. I had to double check because I was freaking out for a second.
Rangers and Paladins (even Core) can use CLW wands at will at level 1.

![]() |

Oh good, so I had it right. That's what I get for trying to overthink it I guess.

![]() |

My chronicle sheet looks nearly fine. Nothing that I can't fix myself, so no work needs to be done on your side:
1) I think the 333g payment for GM Torch should be under "Items bought" and the Day Job under "Items sold", not the other way around. But that's just a cosmetic issue. ;-)
2) The 10g bribe that Corba paid out of her pocket is not mentioned on the chronicle. I will add it.
3) My purchases are not on the chronicle because I completely forgot to post them. *facepalm*
Purchases: Cloak of Resistance +1 (1000g), Wand of Identify (2 PP)
I will add them to my chronicle, too.
Thank you for running this, GM TOP! I had fun! :-D

1) Absolutely right. Either later seasons have those on the opposite sides and my brain failed to recognize it or I’ve been reading these things wrong all the time, which is quite more likely. I can pretty easily fix the chronicles and re-issue. You may also edit/manage the ones you have on your own if you don’t want to redownload.
2) You coulda gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those dang kids your dang honesty.
3) I usually let players put in their own purchases and such. In PbP (and F2F honestly) it’s a ton of extra work/coordination and really only makes sense if a player is inexperienced at the purchasing process.

Updated!
New Chronicles replaced the old ones at the same spot here!
Just waiting on Bobbie to check in that all is good.
