Normally, yes. But the MAP turns it into a miss. The natural 20 only upgrades the result. From a miss to a hit or (more common) a hit to a crit. Of course, this also tells you more or less what the AC is! :)

Seeing Blue faltering, but with his party members blocking a clear view, Eliadyr will stride forward, utter an incantation and then let loose a blazing arrow, which threads its way through the crowd and leaves a meteor trail hanging in the air behind it. The arrow strikes true and the trail hangs in the air. He then switches focus to the nymph but the arrow falls short.

Salissa's protector tree immediately steps in front of Ephesian and Salissa and gets riddled with shards. The tree immediately disappears as the rotten compost shards shear through it.
I had the tree take the 10 slashing for each of you. Since the description on AoN has 'hit by a strike', I interpreted that as physical damage.
