Before the halfling has a chance to walk back to the ship, a handsome human with a large, axe-like polearm comes trotting towards the group. He stands a little over six feet tall with broad shoulders and an athletic build, and the blond hair and bright blue eyes of an Ulfen. He smiles at the motley crew assembled around Rickety and calls out, "Hey, you're the ones looking to take on new crew members, right?"

He has a charming smile, and there's a pleasant cadence to his speech as he continues, "My name's Lief. I grew up with ropes in my hands and the salt air in my hair, and I've spent the last five years working as a sailor. I can work riggings, man a helm, navigate, and I can be helpful to have around in a fight. You may very well have warriors more skilled in combat than I am, but I know how to inspire them to fight better, and I can do a little bit of healing afterwards. Do you think there might be a place in your crew for me?"

A well-used cutlass and boarding axe hang off his belt, his wide bow-legged stance an indicator of a life spent at sea. "Did me ears catch wind that ye be seekin' a sturdy crew? If it's a helmsman ye be needin', ye'll find none finer than meself in steerin' a course true."

"I be Callum Carnvegas," the man says as he doffs his hat with a bow, replacing and fixing it when he straightens, a smile on his face. "an me blood runs full of the sea. Me own grandpappy braved the Eye, an' I aim to match his legend!"

After chatting briefly with the newcomer and deciding that Callum seemed legit, Capricia welcomes him to the crew and gives him the same info as she gave Lief.

The handsome man suddenly realizes what a downer he’s a being and flashes his charming smile at the captain and other female officers. “But I am alive, so I best get back to enjoying life. I don’t have anything here that needs finishing, except this waterskin full of mead. But, if you need help with anything before we leave, anything at all, just say the word.”


The halfling squints his eyes as he scans the scene unfolding in front of him. When both Lief and Callum are accepted into the ranks. "Well, damn! Our recruitment process is atrocious." he snickers, but waves at the new meat. "Certainly better than the previous one, though."

"I'm Aki. You can call me Nuts. I do..." and he stops himself before turning to Capricia. "Cap', what do I do on the ship, anyway?" he leans to the newcomers and whispers "New management. Roles are kinda all over the place right now. Give it time."

Looking back at Capricia, he points towards the ship. "I mean I can do carpentry. Should I, uh, go help with the makeover or something?"

On that topic, GM, -can- Nuts help with the ship work? He is a carpenter by trade.

As work continues on the Man’s Promise
on another uncomfortably hot day, the PCs can see a cloud
of birds rise from the jungle beyond the construction and
fly over the dry dock. The workers there suddenly begin to
run for cover, some risking serious injury as they leap to
the ground below.

Everyone head for cover! Ricketey yells out to crew
and guests. Nuts, you are group zero of the attack so your options are to run or fight alone for now.
As soon as everyone makes it inside the Commons
or one of the other buildings, the wasps no longer pose
much of a threat and they eventually f ly off along the coast.
Until then, however, you and workers at Rickety’s are
in real danger, and you must face a group of five
giant wasps before they can safely get to cover.

Initially confused, Nuts looks around as the crew rund for cover. He puts down his jack-plane and stands up, wondering what is about to show up.

As overgrown insects appear in his sight, he stands his ground.

"Oh, what are you doing here? Too bad I don't have a fly swatter." He looks at his hands. "These will have to do."

Yeah, that is not going to hit. They have a bird's eye view of everything so very hard to get surprise. Will need to get a flank.

Seeing the two closest menacing my fellow Mates and officers, I release a spell to take one out, they are too close to risk area spells.

Shiver me timbers if this don't beat all, by golly, giant flies with stingers, no wonder we don't come on dry land that often. Well, big flies need a big swatter!!
