Welcome to the recruitment/interest check for Iron Gods I'll be hosting! Fair warning this is my first time PbP GMing, but I'm currently GMing two VTT campaigns at the time, so I'm not going in totally blind with respect to GMing. (Sorry if I somehow screwed something up when posting this)

===========

System - Pathfinder 1e

SRDs - Archives of Nethys, d20PFSRD

Books Allowed - All official Paizo 1e content, including books published after Iron Gods was published.

House Rules and Systems in Use - Some 2e lorewise-features (mostly languages available), Elephant in the Room feat Tax.

Banned Items, Classes, Archetypes, Etc. - Summoner.

Races - Any Race with a stat bonus spread of +2/+2/-2 is acceptable, along with humans, half-elves, half-orcs, and Aasimars.

Starting Level - 1st

Starting Wealth - Max for your class

Attributes - 25 point buy.

Hit Points - Max at 1st level, higher of average (rounded up) or roll from 2nd on

Traits - 2, or 3 with drawback. One must be a campaign Trait from Iron Gods.

Alignment - Non-evil alignments only, please.

Submission Requirements

Character Sheet - At a minimum, it needs to have race, class, and the attributes. However, I would greatly prefer a complete character sheet.

Character Background - No need for a novel, just a reason why they're currently in Torch, and a reason they wish to save Torch and Khonnir Bane. (Write a pseudo-novel if you're feeling up to it, though)

Sounds interesting. Here's my application.

Hekau here made it through part of Book 1 before the game ended.

I'd be happy to scale him back to level 1 and try it again.

Dotting.

I played a little bit of this a few years ago with a robot hating half-orc fighter and I'd like to give it another go. Not sure yet if I'll keep the character or think up something different.

Dotting.

Hekau is scaled back to Level 1. Android Spell Sage wizard. Stats are in the profile, and you can look at his posting history for RP examples.

Would I be able to have scribed scrolls with starting gold? Have 50 GP left to spend which could be 4 scrolls (a big help for a Wiz1).

Oh hey Rabscuttle, fancy seeing you here! And Hekau, yeah, you'll be okay to scribe a few scrolls with starting GP.

I present Eyve. Andriod Brawler

This is the perfect excuse to make a halfling archaeologist bard. I'll get them put together.

Darn, I wanted to make an android brawler named Armstrong who crushed foes with the power of nanomachines.(son)

I played a Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) in an IG campaign on here years ago that fell apart somewhere around book 2-3. I wouldn’t want to reprise that character, but it was a fun campaign and I’d love to see if we can get farther. Thinking maybe play an Android Magus (or some other Dex-heavy melee or gish class). As long as it’s not going to be an issue for you that I’ve played the first part of the game before.

If it was years ago, then it doesn't matter to me. I'd have some qualms if you were currently GMing an IG campaign.

What's the deadline for submissions?

The deadline for submissions is 2 weeks from yesterday, so October 3rd, unless there's an overwhelming amount of submissions, then it will be 1wk earlier.

I've been hoping to try this one.

Sounds interesting! Dotting

Presumably you mean November 3rd...

Oh yeah, November 3rd. Forgot it's October already.

Note this is supposed to say November 3rd!

Yay! Iron Gods! Here's my character submission.

Penka's information is in her profile. I put her together quickly, so there's probably some editing for mistakes I'll need to do tomorrow.

She's my first ever triple archetype character, an Alchemist (Chirurgeon, Crypt Breaker, Dimensional Delver).

I can't seem to find Dimensional Delver on AoN, do you mean Dimensional Excavator?

Oops, yes, Dimensional Excavator is the correct name. I'll change that. :)

No problem!

Here are the submissions and dots, for my edification when deciding in 1~2 weeks.

@Violant, just to confirm, you are not using the BACKGROUND SKILLS variant

Getting some proper work done on the character. Going to be a lot of focus on traits, drawbacks, and luck.

Planning him to be a skill monkey, trap finder, and evasive front-liner who can buff the heavy hitters attack or AC with aid another and spells. A very dodgy fellow who uses guile.

Eventually want to pick up assault leader to give the actual damage dealing melee an attack in his place. Doesn't hurt he will have multiple ways to lower his attack bonus. :3

pad300 wrote:

Correct, won't be using background skills in this campaign.

@Violant who needs background skills? :P

I just need to plug in a feat here annnnnnnd... done! One halfling ready for inspection!

Now for an aspirin and a nap. Can't believe I did that in one sitting.

Grezzag: Male Half-Orc Fighter

Hi, this is Rabscuttle. Decided to give Grezzag another go, I think he was pretty fun to play. I've delevelled him and added description and background sections.

I'm re-working my Gunslinger gnome to fit the campaign

Uh oh, competition for the role of party shorty.

Why not turn tables? Small sized group, with only one token party tally!

Good on you for taking up the call, Violant. PbP GMing isn't always the easiest, but it can be darn rewarding. But you mention two virtual tabletop games; are you planning to run this similarly, with battle maps, or will it be entirely theatre of the mind? And if it's the former, what's your chosen medium? Roll20, google slides, some third option?

Hope it's not poor form to ask too much of the GM, but while I have you here, could you elaborate more on what you're hoping for from this game? Why branch out into PbP? For that matter, what drew you to Iron Gods specifically? Being an opportunity to step into their world, I'm always curious about the GM's drive and perspective.

Oh, and I guess this is me dotting.

Oh, and I guess this is me dotting.

I plan on doing both! Any encounters that don't have a map will be theatre of mind, while those that have a prefabricated map will be a battle map. I'm GMing a small-ish gestalt campaign and an even smaller gestalt campaign, one of which is ... if I were to go the same route, would be a LOT of theatre of mind! The other is a really small (1 person gestalt) Iron Gods campaign. I'll probably let the people decide which they prefer, as I'm fine with either!

I'm hoping more experience with GMing in terms of what I want out of the campaign, as well as an experience for deeper RP that I have time to think about beforehand, instead of on-the-spot inperson/VTT campaigns.

My first introduction I ran to a campaign was god-awful. I plan to remedy that in this campaign.

And as to what made me choose Iron Gods? TECH WEAPONS. This is the only AP where it's feasible to obtain them, so yeah!

I can say with certainty that roleplay comes naturally to PBP. More than any in person or online game I have taken part in at least.

I'm kind of curious what the tech stuff in the campaign is like. The player's guide doesn't mention it much, and I haven't peeked behind the curtain despite applying. It did explain use of skills like disable device, so the thought of fiddling with potentially dangerous items sounds amusing.

Specifically explosives. Mage hand spell trick might be a good call.

I can say it isn't as high-tech as Starfinder (no kidding), but like. The hazards and enemies are more technological than magical, mostly. Hazards tend less to be glyph and more malfunctioning tech, and so on!

What firearm rules are you playing with? Given all the technological guns likely to be found in Numeria (I honestly can't remember from last time I played, my dwarf was happy with his dorn-dergar), seems like it might be a good time for the Commonplace Guns rules, so that everyone isn't having to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Firearms) just to get to play with the toys.

I'll probably see what kind of characters get in and what the players want for this, but that's certainly a possibility I'd consider. But yeah, I'll be waiting on party composition and the actual players to see if that's wanted and advisable.

Selfishly, I'm looking at an Eldritch Archer Magus, so it'd definitely save me some hassle.

I could see Penka being interested in using firearms, depending on what they can do. She'll have some of the ranged feats for bombs and crossbow anyway, so extra options sound really appealing.

Her bombs are more effective against constructs (and corporeal undead), but less so against other stuff. A nifty laser pistol or whatever could be nice to have.

Ouachitonian wrote:

IS that why you asked about commonplace guns? ;)

Definitely part of it. But I’m guessing I’m not the only one who’d benefit. Enlightened self-interest. :)

Yeah. You would not get immediate access to tech weapons though, so keep that in mind.

I'm submitting Zeldones, an aerokineticist originally from Iadenveigh. Since he's been out in the world he's softened his stance on technology in general, but he's still dead set against robots. I still have to finish picking skills.

Very interested!

Brewing an oread geokindticist, sort of a forgemaster/clockwork crafter who worships Brigh and wants to integrate some tech/clockwork into his body through the use of the kineticist talents dealing with that (clockwork heart etc). Should have something put together tomorrow!

Quick question though, would you be okay with me swapping out the Oread acid resistance for fire resistance, to better fit his being able to work with direct fire so easily? If not that’s okay, figured I’d ask.

I'll have to think about it, but I'll get back to you soon about that.

Heh, two kineticists in a row.

I might trade it out for the racial bonus to natural armor anyway, so we’ll see.

I didn’t notice there were two kineticists in a row, funny coincidences!

I am for sure interested. I will put together a character for it. For guns are they going to be common place or nah?

Either way I would like to make a goblin gunslinger with the same named feat, might play with the class, but will still use guns. if that's a No go, I can tink a little harder but I've been dreaming of a gobbo with a blunderbuss and a can do attitude.
