Rybar Gannon (11/17 HP) | Wounded 1
Ōtani Yoshitsugu (15/15 HP)
With threats eliminated, the group can see that bright green mushrooms grow throughout this area. Half-buried in the mushrooms to the west of this area is a gecko potion. Neat.
After collecting the mushrooms needed and handwaving healing... The group continues their search for more rare mushrooms inside the caverns. As they arrive at a certain spot, they find that the spore-producing mushrooms in this area are red with yellow spots that look rare. Moreover, they begin to smell the same sickly sweet mushrooms. They also find an iruxi lying on the ground, as if sleeping.
Olegaro |
"Ah that doesn't look so good. That the spores you mentioned Rybar? Anyway let's get this poor iruxi out of there."
Placing his lantern out of the way on the ground, and making sure his improvised mask is secure, Olegaro will lean down and start dragging the iruxi away from the spores. He'll try to be as fast as possible.
If nothing goes awry, once away from the spores, Olegaro will then try and tend to the iruxi.
Moist Definitely |
Okay, I guess we should collect mushrooms. Definitely just for research. Definitely not for risotto...
He then notices the iruxi and carefully pads over to them curiously.
Are you really asleep? This does seem like a comfy place for a nap!
GM Frost |
Olegaro remembers what Rybar mentioned about spore-producing mushrooms. With this information, he secures an improvised mask tight around his face to cover it and then attempts to drag the iruxi.
Olegaro, roll a reduced DC 10 Fortitude save to see if your mask is effective against the spores in the area.
GM Frost |
Olegaro is able to pull out the sleeping(?) or unconscious iruxi out of the area. After a minute of waiting, the iruxi regains consciousness.
Looking around confused, she asks, "What happened to me? Who are you?"
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
"Hanu, Friend of the Wood, is what I am called" he bows "Your note led us here"
He gives her a Banana of Mending to feel better.
Banana of Mending (Healing, Impulse, Kineticist, Plant, Primal, Vitality, Wood): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Zepth. |
"As for your condition, the spores over there got the better of you. Thankfully the aberration and the snakes didn't find you before we did."
GM Frost |
The iruxi hesitates but accepts the banana and eats it. "Thank you," she says to Hanu with a blush on her face. After hearing what Zepth has just said, she suddenly remember something. "Oh, right. I remember now. I was out foraging for the Tskikha enclave, our community nearby. I entered this caverns looking for new and exciting flavors to try. The last thing I remember is I pass out so I didn’t explore much here." she explains.
"Why are you all here by the way?" she asks them. "Where are my manners!" she hastily stands up. "My name is Kallia."
Ōtani Yoshitsugu. |
Otani smartly replaces his Katana into its home. The Tengu bows formally to the waking iruxi.
Honors to your ancestors. I am called Otani Yoshitsugu. We were sent to pick mushrooms!
Moist Definitely |
Hello, I'm Moist! the grippli offers.
Look, on the bright side we can just say it was a good nap for you! Anyway, we can get you out of here. Want to pick mushrooms with us in the meantime? Maybe you can get the extra ones I'll use to make a risotto!
GM Frost |
"Hello Kallia. Would you know why you passed out? Would it be these mushrooms you think?"
"I might have disturbed that spore mushrooms over there. I should have immediately recognized but it was too late for me, " Kallia points out to the mushrooms with red and yellow spots.
"Want to pick mushrooms with us in the meantime? Maybe you can get the extra ones I'll use to make a risotto!"
"Sure, I would love to! But I don't know what a risotto is." she admits. Kallia grants a +1 circumstance bonus to skill checks to harvest
mushrooms for the remainder of the bounty."Why don't we pick some mushrooms here?" she offers to help them.
Roleplay how one PC plans to extract the spore mushroom in the area. I need one PC to spend 1 minute and succeed at a DC 17 Nature or Survival check or a relevant DC 15 Lore check to harvest a sample of the mushrooms in this area.
Olegaro |
Olegaro will join with the others in greeting Kallia when she has recovered.
Once the topic of gathering the mushrooms properly comes up, Olegaro will simply offer "Well, I'm happy to stand by the rescue anyone who is trying to pick that spore mushroom and gets into trouble."
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
With a little primal glow, Hanu Suppresses the plant matter around the mushrooms, acting like a gentle knife to extract them without use of blade or brute force - lifting them into the air, he collects them into Kallia outstretched hand!
Nature (Trained): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
GM Frost |
Hanu easily controls the mushroom's release of spore and carefully extracts the mushroom they need with ease! Kallia is impressed by the way Hanu handles the extraction. "Wow, you are really good at this!" she comments.
With another mushroom extracted, Kallia press them on to look for more. "I am not sure where are you heading after this area, but I would to check the area on the south."
Moving on, the group continues to traverse the caverns for more unique mushrooms. As they enter a cave in the southwest, they encounter vibrant blue mushrooms that grow exclusively on the ceiling. This area of the cavern expands so that the ceiling is 15 feet tall.
"That is pretty high above us. Can somebody climb and extract those?"
Looking around, they find some handholds and small ledges along the craggy walls of the cave that they can use to Climb into with successful DC 15 Athletics checks until you reach the height of the ceiling, which is 15 feet. Afterwhich, they can extract the vibrant blue mushrooms with relevant skill for the task of DC 15.
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
Wagging his Climbing Tail, Hanu scampers up the craggy wall and scoops even more mushrooms.

He hands the blue fungus back to Kallia, fawning a little at her praise.
Zepth. |
Zepth also watches as Hanu does easy work of the fungus recollection.
"Nice work!"
Ōtani Yoshitsugu. |
Otani watches their friend, Hanu, displaying his amazing talents for the good of the group.
Just fantastic, Hanu!
Moist Definitely |
See, this is where you find out I'm not a cave frog. Not so much on the climbing.
He holds out his padded fingers to emphasize no suction'y parts.
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
Hanu - bit more a ham than you might expect - receives the praise by doing a cartwheel in place!
GM Frost |
Hanu seizes the opportunity to retrieve the mushrooms on the cavern ceiling himself. Wagging his tail, he begins to carefully climb the wall and reach for the nearest mushrooms above. He then extracts some of the mushrooms before descending with a dramatic cartwheel.
After handing over the mushrooms to Kallia, the iruxi takes only a few for herself and generously gives the rest to the group. "Here, the rest is yours; I only need some of them."
Once they have collected samples of all three mushroom species, they return to Urwal at the Pathfinder camp. Seeing that they have collected ample amount of mushrooms, Urwal is thrilled with their work. "This is lovely! If you’re ever looking for more adventure, the Pathfinder Society would welcome you into our ranks." he offers them. "Oh, I see you have a new friend here!" referring to Kallia, of which the iruxi shyly introduces herself. Urwal offers her the opportunity to train as a Pathfinder as well. She demurs, saying she needs to get home to her family, but thanks him for the offer and bids them farewell.
Zepth. |
"Wish you luck!" replies an enthusiastic Zepth.
"And remember that the offer stands! If you ever feel like it just ask for us in a lodge and I'll get a good word for you!
