Gruff, to the point Vanguard Gnoll Gunslinger that dabbles in Bombs who likes to hang near the front and shoot things point blank to their face, but also has some Medicine skills...

...Curious, Know-It-All Goblin Investigator who carries a strange self-cobbled Alchemical Crossbow and dabbles in Elixirs and has read the entire Art of War in it’s native tongue.

Hello friends! This is Jiggo Maeleranti, a joyful optimistic summoner along with his risen demon paramour, Salera. He has the optimism and Salera has the pragmatism. Pleased to meet you.

A question about retraining, since I'm at 35 XP.
- I took >Dual Studies< as my level 2 class feat. This made Jiggo Trained in Medicine. I'd like to change this feat selection.
- However if I lose it, I am no longer trained in Medicine.
- That means I would no longer qualify for Battle Medicine, which I took at level 2.
- I'd love Jiggo to continue down the Medic path with later Medicine-based skill feats.
So I'm trying to figure out the order I need to follow to retrain this class feat, and I'd like to not lose access to Battle Medicine, I think I can do this with 2 retrainings according to the >retraining< rules.
- Retrain my level 3 skill increase so it's on Medicine (now I'm expert)
- Retrain to lose Dual Studies, now I'm Trained on Medicine so I keep Battle Medicine
GM, does that sound valid? In PFS I think I spend >7 days retraining and 1 day earning income<. I believe this falls under changing a Feat and a Skill Increase, which takes 7 days each.

I have one GM Glyph.
Slides and macros done.
Clover's been taking a scroll of heal as her school item, but level 2 heal isn't an option.
She's going to purchase one just in case, but scrolls are the only healing she has. Should I take the level 1 scroll, or does this party have enough healing that I can forgo it and take something else? Seems like we might.

![]() |

Three glyphs to share.

![]() |

I also have a GM Glyph, that's 5 total. I'll offer the bonus Hero Point to the lowest level character.
Jiggo has the Medicine skill and the Heal spell, but he is a Summoner so he has limited spell slots (2 1st, 1 2nd.) He usually takes a scroll of Restoration as his school item. It hasn't been used yet, but I'm certain it will come in handy when it does.

Could the following players please complete the Slides and Macros, linked above?
Peter Plus-Haut
Martin Amblecrown
Thank you

I think your reasoning makes sense. Salera will lose a skil due to retraining Dual Studies, right? As you say, it will take two retraining sessions.

![]() |

Yes, Salera will lose access to Deception, I believe. I might go Rogue Dedication at some point for those juicy skill increases, but I'm unsure.

![]() |

I have two glyphs to share - that means everyone should be able to start with 2.

![]() |

Yep, everybody will start with 2 Hero Points.

>Lingering Composition< says if you fail the Perform check, you get the Focus Point back. I don't see anything about Critical Failure stopping the refunded Focus Point.
I thought if they mention Failure but not Critical Failure then a Critical Failure follows the Failure results. I could be wrong on this, though.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Lingering Composition is a Focus 1 (not Cantrip 1), so it uses a Focus Point by default.
Critical Success The composition lasts 4 rounds, and by default a Focus Point is used.
Success The composition lasts 3 rounds, and by default a Focus Point is used.
Failure The composition lasts 1 round, but you don't spend the Focus Point for casting this spell.
Critical Failure: Nothing happens, and by default a Focus Point is used.

![]() |

When no critical result is listed, you use the regular success/failure result.

My apologies, but I am unexpectedly without Internet this week. I will try to keep up by using my phone as a hotspot, but it's slow.

Princess Clover, I consider plagiarism the sincerest form of flattery. I liked it enough to steal it and use it myself. Feel free to steal things back if they work for you.
Oh, I do. Whenever I start a new pbp, I search the site for the scenario name. Quick way to find three things--the shop page for the description, the GM Discussion thread for any tips, and previous pbp games that might have still have a link to a slideshow I can "borrow" from so I don't have to recreate everything myself.
Of course, on my own Slides I usually delete tokens and maps we're done with. Maybe I should leave them up for GMs who come later.

![]() |

Most of my slides/presentations are stuff I've copied over the years...
HP tracking - Deevor
Combat Tracker - Tyranius
Skill check announcement - bigrin
I forget who I took the idea from with linking the tacmap in the combat tracker...

DISCOVER
You watch or study an NPC to learn more about that NPC’s preferences. Choose an NPC and attempt a Perception check or an appropriate skill check determined by the GM. The DC is typically found in the PC’s influence stat block.Critical Success Choose two of the options detailed in Success below; you can choose the same option twice to learn two pieces of information from the same category.
Success Choose one of the following: You learn which skill that can Influence the NPC has the lowest DC (skipping any skills that you already know), one of the NPC’s resistances, or one of the NPC’s weaknesses.
Failure You learn no information.
Critical Failure Choose a piece of information to learn about, as success, but the information is incorrect. For instance, you might think the NPC is susceptible to flattery when actually the NPC is resistant to flattery.
Each PC should choose one of the NPCs and either try to Discover to learn more about them or Influence them to make a good impression.
Discovery is a secret check, so roll in a spoiler box or just tell me your bonus. You also choose a piece of information to learn (and a second, in case you critically succeed):Which Influence skill is easiest,
one of the NPC's resistances, or
one of their weaknesses.Be aware that on a critical failure you can get false information, as is typical for secret checks.
To Discover something about WANAKEENA AWASUUL you can use Arcadia Lore, Society, Perception,
To Discover something about TEKAWENDA ULASH you can use Warfare Lore, Athletics, Society, Perception
To Discover something about SKAWAHANN DUBURRA you can use Arcadia Lore, Arcana, Perception
You can always try another skill (particularly a similar Lore).
To Influence WANAKEENA AWASUUL you can use (in alphabetical order): Deception: Diplomacy; Society (discussing the ceremonial importance of returning the star gun),
In order easiest to hardest: Society
Wanakeena is secretly in awe of the Pathfinder Society and would be relieved to have their direction in this tense situation. Arguments that the Pathfinder Society is good for Segada decrease this check’s DC by 2.
To Influence TEKAWENDA ULASH you can use (in alphabetical order): Deception; Diplomacy; Intimidation (trying to threaten the captain of the peacekeepers); Pathfinder Lore (discussing the history of the Pathfinders and how they may aid her); various (demonstrating a skill and explaining how it can help her keep the peace; various skills can apply).
In order easiest to hardest: Pathfinder Lore, Any skill that can demonstrate keeping the peace
To Influence SKAWAHANN DUBURRA you can use (in alphabetical order): Arcana (demonstrating knowledge of magic and its history); Crafting (explaining how the Pathfinders will care for this relic over the journey); Deception; Diplomacy; Lore (appealing to her love of knowledge and secrets; various lores can apply); Occultism (sharing hidden knowledge).
In order easiest to hardest: Lore
Promise to Share Pathfinder Lore to decrease DC by 2, Arguments made by Arcadians reduce DC by 5

FYI, I will be away in nature next weekend 8/19-8/21 (Saturday through Monday).

Performance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 Success, 0.20 gp for 1 day
As discussed in >This Post<, Jiggo would like to retrain his level 3 Skill increase from Performance to Medicine. He is now an Expert in Medicine and Untrained in Performance.
The chronicle looks great, GM. Thank you.
Oh cool, I'm level 4. I'll level up over the weekend.

![]() |

Mine looks great as well. Peter is still level 3.
Performance: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 = 22

![]() |

Oh right...
Earn income, task 1 (DC 15 Academia Lore, trained): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
⇒ 2sp/day

![]() |

Jiggo has so much retraining to do to get the right spells, I just started flipping through Rage of Elements. Now I want to change 3 of my spells. Ugh.

![]() |

Clover failed her Earn Income, but she is making some purchases. She now has a pearly white spindle orbiting her head.
I know the reason they're popular is for the resonant power, but she's also bought a dusty rose prism aeon stone, and that one's going in her wayfinder. I figured she has few enough invested items at this point that if she needs the regeneration she can swap them.

![]() |

Crafting: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Chronicle looks good! Thanks GM.

![]() |

Earn Income: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Good day GM. If it's not too much to ask, could you check the boxes that show what happened from the adventure. I'm not too good in editing PDFs.

Sorry for the silence. Work hit me hard while I was at DEFCON, so I have been run ragged the last few days. I have been working every minute I wasn't physically at DEFCON.

![]() |

DEFCON? Oh that's fun... Never been to one but I've heard of it... :)
IIRC there are workshops or events where you can hack others without being prosecuted? :)

Good luck and have fun, GM. Never heard of DEFCON.
So I got a new spell.
>Blazing Armory<
If anyone wants a flaming +1 striking Simple or Martial weapon that deals only fire damage, I'm your guy.
Also, >Gentle Breeze< will help during healing post combat.

![]() |

Zhamie, there are a number of competitions where you can hack at things.
If you are interested, competitions are often held called "Capture the Flag" where your task is to find a particular piece of data on a neutral computer system or even a system defended by another team.
There are also tons of presentations and education opportunities.

![]() |

I heard of DEFCON from a video course for Security+.

Years ago (like in the early 2000s, before DEFCON was huge), I was in Las Vegas with some friends, concidentally the week that DEFCON was being held. We had no idea the conference was going on. All we knew was that more than once, women more attractive than usually spoke to us asked us, "Are you guys hackers?!"

On my flight back I was sitting next to a woman who attended DEFCON as well. Just before we deplaned she mentioned she had gone to the physical security area and managed to win a competition by picking her way out of a set of handcuffs in 5 seconds.
It didn't occur to me until later to wonder how she got so much experience with handcuffs.

I went ahead and filled in the boxes, and posted new copies of the Chronicle sheets here
I have also reported the session on the Paizo web site.

I've also heard that people hand out USB thumbdrives like it's going out of style. Though I don't recommend using them... :)

Hm. I'm not seeing--oh, and I see why. The PFS number on my Chronicle is completely wrong. Probably someone else's number from when you swapped players between tables.
My number should be 2389841.

I fixed Princess Clover's number on the session report. My apologies for the error there. I have uploaded a new chronicle but it doesn't have the boxes checked yet. I will fix that shortly.
Zhamie, I didn't see any thumb drives being distributed. Those kind of traps have been around a number of years and most people in the industry are aware of the issues. The DEFCON web site actually recommends flushing any you find so someone else doesn't get fooled.
QR codes with embedded malicious web sites are more of a current problem, as it seems everyone wants you to "point your cell phone camera at the screen and use this QR code to get to our web site." Slips of paper with QR codes are cheaper than flash drives.

![]() |

Princess Clover: A new version of your chronicle is uploaded. Please check it over and let me know if it is OK?

![]() |

No, but I already made notes about downtime and purchases on the first one, so correcting the number is easier for me anyway.
I see the session listed now, though. Thank you! Sorry I didn't catch it sooner.

![]() |

No problem, but that is a good prompt for folks to fill out the RPG Chronicles for the next scenario.

Oops, sorry about that.
