Ethulfel Umbrada |
In addition to knowledges, face skills, illusion/charms, and sweet, sweet inspire courage, Ethulfel is a halfway decent scout, and can summon or charm animals if we really need more bodies for a battle (and more targets for inspire courage). Maidie is correct about him mostly needing to stay where its safe during combat though.
Hmm... fun fact- if Eth and Meep were to wander off on their own for any reason, and both took 10 on their stealth checks, nobody in the party would have even odds to find them (Moon would be closest at 40%)

I'll post in response to the spoilered conversations/activities later (probably tomorrow?), I just wanted to get something up in gameplay before I missed the whole conversation. Also, I don't know if it's just me or what but the Elven spoiler (in my post) won't open on my computer? Eth is asking Moon to try to keep the Voice talking for as long as possible, so I can study its voice.
Moon Akechi |
Sadly, Salsa, I included my +2 in that roll... so I can't read the spoiler since I blew the roll by 1 point.
To Eth's point about posting rates - I plan to not respond to the Voice this evening to let other folks catch up, jump in, etc.

I guarantee you it's a malformed tag in your post. Hit the edit button and double check those.

Actually, while the party would likely be unable to notice Eth and Meep sneaking away, they'd for sure be able to find them, unless the sneaky runaways can fly/float.
Even on hard floor (stone and the like), both Erigga and Moon can find their trails by taking 10, since it has nothing to do with Stealth. Once the trail is found, they two can take 10 to find them.

I know we have some knowledge monkeys here, so in the future when you want to roll a knowledge check and you're not sure what to roll, just roll once for each topic or bit of information and list the modifiers after the roll.
So in Betzolte's case, she's wondering about local legends and history surrounding the Skull of the Moon and blackened tongue's eaves. In this case, Local and History make the most sense, but let's pretend that wasn't the case.
she'd roll like this.
Knowledge on Skull of the Moon: 1d20 ⇒ 14 Arcana +9, Geography +7, History +8, Local +7, Nature +7, Planes +8, Religion +7
Knowledge on Blackened Tongue's Eaves: 1d20 ⇒ 16 Arcana +9, Geography +7, History +8, Local +7, Nature +7, Planes +8, Religion +7
I'll be adding this and the combat stuff I mentioned in the RotRL game to the Campaign info tab.
DM-Salsa |
Betz, if you want, give me a Knowledge(Local) and a Knowledge(History) check. Those would be the most relevant here.
DM-Salsa |
And posted stuff about initiative, rolls, and crits in the campaign tab.
Betz, I'll get you a post in just a bit.
DM-Salsa |
In this case, no. It's more about what you know. If it was doing research then I'd allow an aid another roll.

My suggestion:
Watches
1 [evening] Erigga (normal +11), Moon (lowlight +13)
2 [night] Meep (darkvision +6), Grob (darkvision +10), Betz (darkvision +6)
3 [morning] Maidie (normal +6), Eth (lowlight +10)
Moon Akechi |
LOL. Shameless attempt to get some alone time with Meep. :)
My logic is to put characters on the watches where their vision works best and try to match higher and lower PER characters.
As Goblins are more active at night (from what we’ve seen), it made sense to have the folks with darkvision and the extra character on during the darkest hours.

Post coming tomorrow. I'll be flex timing Moon's visit back to the Great Log and the Voice thereof.
The plan is to get y'all back to Kassen since I think y'all packed enough food for the trip to the Voice, but not much more. You'll be able to resupply and plan an excursion into the section of the Fangwood that Ganny Black Tongue claims. It'll also give me a chance to figure out how I'm going to handle the search for the goblin meeting place. The section of forest is large, it'd take a few days just to cross it, much less look through it, and even with two or three good hunters, it'll be hard to forage enough to sustain the party in the middle of winter.
Erigga Ironheart |
If Grob's mentor had enough levels as a druid, a handful of goodberries could be a lot of help. They last for day/level.
We are in seven, counting Meep, so Grob would likely need to spend two spells each day to provide us with berries off his own.
DM-Salsa |
Olmira and most of the mentors are at level 5 or 6. Prasst and Talliree are at level 4 (otherwise they'd be able to take care of Coldana's eyes.) The other thing is that you'd still have to go back to Kassen to get them from her, and she's going to be helping with the town's defenses, so she won't be able to come with you either. There is also that meeting with the raven Ethulfel has scouting the area north of the river, so at least he would have to go back anyway even if y'all weren't going to be running low on supplies.
Don't worry, I'm not the sort of GM to try and screw over the party's plans, at least not without giving y'all a chance to stop the baddies. If y'all want to try and catch them off guard and disrupt their back lines, I'm all for it. I'm just not going to make it easy.

No post tonight. I need to mentally reset and focus on getting a good night's sleep. Apologies.
And yes, Ethulfel, I did miss that. Apologies for that as well.
Betzolte Ironhame |
Half expected the Voice to say this!
DM-Salsa |
Alas, I have no time to pop popcorn tonight. Still, this is getting interesting. :D
DM-Salsa |
Posting this here so everyone can see it.
No post tonight. Still recovering form Wednesday night where I got exactly zero sleep, plus some other fun stuff with a snake and looking for things to deal with said snake just after finding out that yes, I do in fact have ADD (I'm fine, been dealing with it for years well enough that I was never tested as a kid. I just have the diagnosis now. :P)
I'll try to get a post up this weekend to move things forward.

Hey guys, as you all probably know I've been working on changing some stuff in my life and working on some long overdue things around my house. The short version is, I'm making progress, but it's not quick. Unfortunately, habits don't change overnight and it's going to take some time before I get back into the saddle here. It'll probably be a couple more weeks before I start posting again. I know that it can be frustrating to have a game go on hiatus, but I promise that I will be back and pick this up again as soon as I am able. I'm loving what's going on and looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Thank you for your patience while I get this sorted out.
DM-Salsa |
Hey all, thank you so much for your patience. My goal for this coming week is to catch up and get a post up. I don't know if I'll succeed, since I still have a good bit I'm trying to get done around the house, but the good news is that I've made more progress than I feared I would, so yay for that. The bad news is that I didn't make as much as I wanted, and it'll be a while before I get everything done.
All of that is to say, I'll be getting the ball rolling again, however slowly it may be for the next little while. Again, thank you all for your patience while I've been working on other things. :)

Hey all, I want to finish up with Ethulfel and Grobradon before moving on since what they decide is going to determine what happens next. If anyone has something they want to do, let me know and we can dive into it. :)
DM-Salsa |
No post tonight, and probably not tomorrow either. Sorry all. Too tired and not in the right headspace.
Betzolte Ironhame |
My attendance is going to be variable for a bit: my mom's sister, who's kind of been an important part of her life since she was eight, and thus an important part of our family by extension, passed away last night. :(
DM-Salsa |
Take all of the time you need. As I said on the Discord server, I'll be praying for you and yours.
Ethulfel Umbrada |
Sorry for the delay- two of my siblings who live in different states decided to meet up like an hour from where I live, and the way things have been going at work I needed a break, so I took off for a little impromptu family reunion and discovered there was no cell reception at all (much less data) there. I'm home now and should have a post up tonight.
Maidie Henrod |
I haven’t looked at Maidie’s downtime in detail, but she’ll do whatever work makes most sense to further the construction of her alchemy lab.
