Congrats on being published!! Wow.

UMD with scrolls is DC 20 + the scroll's caster level. Page 21 of the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide says that scrolls are the lowest level possible. Scorching Ray is a second level wizard spell, so the DC is 23. I'm +7 on UMD, so I need to roll a 16 to use it successfully, and mishaps can happen with rolls of 4 or lower. It'd be great if someone else could use it :)

As for the scroll -- I've got nothing to help with casting a scroll.

UMD for scrolls is just hard at low levels. You’d need a good charisma like mine and skill focus and even then you’d still not have an equal chance of success and failure. I have that 10 in diplomacy because I took skill focus, and even +10 is more likely to fail than not.

As an aside, I used Torgen at a PFS Game convention this weekend in LA and he was so fun to play!
He died as he fell to his death in the elemental plane of air-- but it was a good death!

I am really, really sorry! The dice just do not like us in this adventure! I am completely out of healing and bardic inspiration. Doing everything I can, but, well, I'm a bard.

No apology needed Alyyra, this is a tough combat for 1st level's. You got in a good hit last round. It's the dice right now. If we can just last a few rounds and get some better rolls.

I agree. That was my thought also. 5 foot step to slowly make your way around the thing. You are being tacticaly wise in that Tuke doesn't want to provoke from this thing. It does nasty damage!

Also,@ Kyomi - if you were low on HP's there's got to be a CLW that is still available or you didn't account for. If one hit got you to -7, then you only had 4 HP's for the fight. I think you have a CLW or two available. You might want to check prior posts.

Even rewinding to the fight against the young-inz at the rock and the tiefling. We should have wiped the field with them in 3-4 rounds. Even with diplomacy. That was a 8-10 round combat. Wasn't it?

Thank you GM for the game! I GREATLY appreciated your patience at our pace. This was a fun adventure and story and actually made a heck of a lot of sense. Some of the D& D 5E adventures are just all over the place.

The one thing I really like about Paizo- their AP's seem solid, play tested and actually edited. This was a fine story.
