Sounds like you're up in Illinois/Great Lakes region.
Alabama here. Winter weather generally means cold, wet, and miserable.
Drektan
Heh. HARDLY. I have lived in that sort of environment (almost 20 years in Nebraska, with single digit ambient temperatures and 40 MPH winds when I would go outside to my car to head for work in the morning), which is why I'm having so much fun with the local panic.
I'm in San Antonio. They have no winter weather equipment. None. The forecast called for a light glazing of ice, so everything is shut down and people are told not to go anywhere.
Been down here over 8 years at this point. I love the heat. But I'm still going outside (short trips) in shirt sleeves in mid 40 degree weather while everyone else is bundled up.

Ah. Same here. I live in Central Alabama, just north of Montgomery, about an hour south of Birmingham.
Amelia Coin
Huh, I'll have to come visit if you're that close. :)
Amelia Coin
I guess I would be on the way. :P
Amelia Coin
Well, I guess Amelia really knows how to read Kunala. I'm not sure how the GM wants to adjudicate that, but I guess it'll be interesting to see what she picks up from the others.
Kunala
Nope, both will be available. Will add that when you talk to the merchants.
Cool!
I had seen Drektan had taken disable device, but didn't go back and look at the archetype to see that it got magic lore/disable magical traps at second level. I also didn't see 'thieves' tools' on their gear list.
So I went ahead and took disable device and purchased thieves tools, so that if I needed to take trapfinding at second or fourth level that I could.
interestingly enough, if Drektan wants to handle traps, Kunala may not take any more skills in disable device and just give them the thieves tools. But he will also be able to 'aid another' with the one skill in disable device.
Have we heard from our dwarf paladin yet? I don't want to be a curmudgeon this early, but frankly, getting worried about that 'post everyday' part already.

I think I'm just a few hours north of you in middle TN haha.
I'll get a dot posted in a second and read through the gameplay thread. I should have an introduction posted in a few hours or so at the latest.

Looks like I'm about dead center between you and the GM then.
Hello and welcome! Glad to have ya aboard.

Ok I'm all caught and tried to fit in without being too weird!
Amelia Coin
Very nicely. :)

By the way, what kind of fellow is dear Taddy, and what does he look like?
Also, what time in the evening is it? I know Amelia and Emre just got in and haven't had supper yet. (And given Amelia's constitution, drinking wine while hungry is probably not going to do good things for her sobriety.) Has anyone else eaten supper yet? Getting to know each other while eating would be a good way to get ourselves all introduced.
Kunala
part of Taddy's backstory is he has been in service as a scout/ forager/ huntsman to house lebeda on and off for over a decade. he might recognize you....
I can work with that, Kunala and family lived at a hunting lodge in the woods north of our location, in his backstory it says "The hunting lodge called 'Rivercat Lodge,' was almost a small village unto itself. Located near enough to the East Sellen River to receive regular supplies, but far enough to need a small palisade," This is where his mother met the man who became his step father, Onnello. He is who you would have worked with, and I'm sure he would have introduced you to the two boys. Since Onnello is a 'bower' he would have made sure to show Kunala and his brother Iradyiel your halfling sling staff. Obviously I made up the 'Rivercat Lodge' so feel free to read the background and add whatever relationship with Onnello you'd like :)

I Like it, I'll take a look and we can work something out. It sounds like it's entirely plausible I would have led you and Onnello and your brother on a few hunts.
Kunala
Maybe? Kunala is twenty now (I'm not quite sure why so old but anyway) he moved to the lodge at five, by ten Onnello would have been married to his mother and they would have been living away from the lodge. It still would have been where they got supplies and such, but not living there. By ten (about when you started working for them) his father was only visiting once a year, in the fall over Kunala's birthday and the middle of quality deer/elk season. So maybe he went hunting with you and lord Lebeda once or twice?
I think he would have gone to the school around fourteen or fifteen?

I've got something I'm working up that I'll DM you and if you approve It can be my backstory. Other wise I'll cut out what doesn't jive with your backstory.
I usually find that knowing at least one other character, even in passing can help RP tremendously.

Since I've been back and forth about this the whole time we've been in discussion; when I saw Tacitus was a 'hunter' and would easily be able to deal with 'survival' I sent Tribute a PM about switching Kunala back to Swashbuckler. Once I started looking at the class, I really wanted to give it a try. So, thanks everyone on your input on the swashbuckler and it's archetypes. I think it will be a fun class to play.
Oh, and apparently Tacitus was a regular at the lodge Kunala group up at. Kunala hasn't been there for five or six years, so they didn't immediately recognize each other.
Tacitus Freeling
That is correct, and last time I saw you, you were a child, now it seems you've grown into a manchild haha
also awesome on the swashbuckler, they are such a fun class and are purpose built to be dex tanks imo
Amelia Coin
yup.

Added the cash to Amelia's reserves and updated her sheet as I realized I hadn't spent the background skill yet. I put it into Profession(Cook) because Amelia seems to the type to cook, and she's the one that bought the cooking kit.

I was honestly expecting a roast in song form, but this worked out okay.
Now, subjecting Emre and Amelia to homework the night they really need to be resting up for a long trip ahead, that's painful. :D

Posting is optional on the weekend, so no response to the Saturday morning (my time) post was required before tomorrow (my time). Feel free to post any time in character when you feel you can add to the story and keep the narrative going and interesting.
Plan is to have combat VERY soon. All requested purchases were delivered after the merchants retrieved them.
Amelia Coin
Any follow up to the discussion that Emre and Amelia were having with the Banker?
Amelia Coin
Oh, I thought he'd disabuse us of the notion if we actually did need to write that essay. It didn't seem like that scene was finished is what I was getting at.
Amelia Coin
Fair enough. I'll keep that in mind when I write up my post.

Instructions for maps
I have to share the link in google docs AND make you all editors, which I just recently did, so it is working now. I was rusty and everyone had view only privileges which is now fixed.
Right click on your picture, copy image, control v in the map, resize your token and move it to where you want to be.

Alot of that going around this morning haha
