Plans:
Ragnhild, if not fatigued would ask Cog or his sparring partner if she can join in. Very much in character for a Gorumite.
And try to figure out how to get armor and/or a weapon. She can kind of fight unarmed, and deal pretty appreciable damage while doing so, but she would prefer not to.

Jacques really needs a finesse weapon if we're going to keep getting attacked by fellow crew members. ;)

Your Benevolent Dictator |

Quick note: Grok, the quartermaster is female.
This campaign's been a nice change of pace for me, by the way. Between the dreamspace utility and your electing to focus on intimidating the crew rather than 'making nice,' things are taking a quite different direction compared to my previous run-throughs. I'm looking forward to seeing how things evolves. XD

I am playing Ragnhild as a bit of a Klutz. While she is reasonably charismatic, she is "Strong Warrior Race Gal", played relatively straight, with the aside that she ended up having a bit too much sympathy for some demons.

Jacques Lacrimoisi |

I didn't have anything to add to the dream, though I'm not sure how to mechanically represent that he'll set aside extra food for Zenj'ya as requested. :)

Trying to wrap my head around what spell casting traditions actually do :).
So, I picked: Replenish (Rally) as a way to make friendlies reroll saving throws if they are within one of my totems.
THe Safety rally that I also pick is a "nope GM, you probably didnt crit" and also requires a totem to be up.
So far so reasonable.
My casting tradition, which I picked because its name is "Skald" is Skald, which makes me cast verbally, totally reasonable, cast of charisma, also totally reasonable, and gives me a scaling bonus to something called spell points.
What confuses me is the following:
Spell points are used for the war sphere stuff, but not the the composition casting stuff.
I do have caster level + ability mod=1+3+1=5 spell points, which are basically the resource that fuels my "nope friendo you are fine" powers.
Hmmmm,
lets see if I can propose a custom casting tradition that fits her better then Skald, because personal conflict is a really appropriate option for her.
Casting ability: CHA (obviously).
Drawbacks:
-- Personal conflict X2
(so she basically is a walking aura, and can start auraing as a move action)
-- Verbal Casting
(its singing or rhyming trashtalk, definitly loud)
-- Galvanized
(very appropriate for a Gorrumite, disarming her is super effective.)
-- Vulnerable spellcaster (my headcanon is that her "magic stuff" is an expansion of how likely she thinks she is going to kick everyone arse, as such, her magic is driven by her self-confidence and aggression, if she gets her arse kicked, or is in a bad shape, this is reduced. From a cursory glance, it offers a lot of potential for a GM to debiliate her, but without making her combat ineffective, which seems pretty cool. I also like giving the GM tools to disable me without killing me haha :)
I also picked this over the "you cant cast while shaken" drawback, since well, she will be raging a lot, and raging should increase rather then decrease her magics).
Boons:
--Get Totemic aura and call to arms for personal conflict
--3 drawbacks active (personal conflict is already paid for)
--The only Boon I would possibly consider is Virtuoso, but I dont have teh skilled magic drawback for it, and this drawback seems a bit punishing to take, as level a level 1 sphere thing has, at a +7 to perform, a 45% chance of failure. As such, I get the stuff for 3 drawbacks,
which is:
+1 per odd level in a casting class (1, 3, 5, etc.).
Overall changes:
--Increased spell point progression
--Totem on her and only her, Aoe still effects friendlies, totem calling is a move, or a swift if I want to expend a spellpoint
--is now galvanized (making disarms really effective)
--he caster level gets reduced by various means
--She is no longer a somatic caster, which I think is big, since if I understand the rules correctly, her rallies would also need a hand free if she was one (normally not a big deal for a 2 handed weapon fighter, but you cant do the "switch weapon to one handed" free action and back out of turn).
Thoughts? I think its ok for Babys first custom tradition.

Apologies for the radio silence. Over the weekend, we took our cat to the vet and learned she has cancer. We've had her since before we were married, so it's quite the blow. I'll post a Gameplay update a little later today.
Uff, that sucks.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

All right, let's get into custom traditions. XD
As you've groked, your casting tradition provides the mechanical framework for how your magic manifests. It doesn't effect composition magic, as that's an entirely different system. In case you're interested, spherecasting comes from Drop Dead Studios, while composition magic is from Interjection Games.
Sphere effects are basically at-will spell-like abilities. Spell points are your equivalent of spell slots. Should be pretty straightforward. XD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding the proposed custom tradition, I think it looks good. What you're proposing is well-suited for a warrior who prefers to self-buff before bashing enemies' faces in. XD

Yeap, Have I mentioned that Sabaton are Gorrums gift to any Skald player?
Some prepared lyrics for appropriate occassions:
War is coming swiftly
The Demons closing in
We’re a company of soldiers
We’re 40 axesstrong
All alone
Stand alone
Our Kellid ground is burning
Stormlord is at hand
As the Blitzkrieg’s pushing harder
The war is all around!
All around
Hold your ground!
Fight for 40 days of battles
No odds are on our side
Few will fight for all
Until the axes are gone
We! We will resist and bite!
Bite hard, cause we are all in sight
We! We take up arms and fight!
Fight hard, resist and do what’s right!
No matter our fighting
Their numbers will still count
We’re outgunned and few in numbers
We’re doomed to flag or fail
We fought hard
Held our guard
But when captured by the Demons
And forced to tell the truth
We will tell them with a smile
We will surprise them with a laugh
We are all
We were all
We were told to hold the border
And that is what we did
Honoured were our orders
In despite of our foe
Gloria fortis miles
The Demons closing in
Adversor et admorsus
The Boar against the Balor
Gloria fortis miles
The Demons closing in
Adversor et admorsus
The Boar against the Balor
As the Worldwound opened, a particularly tenacious company of merely 40 ragebred-skinwalker Sarkorians managed to resist quite effectively against the Deskarite onslaught, making clever use of terrain and essentially hugging the enemy so that the demons were unable to use their overwhelming aerial and magical superiority.
Eventually, the "Sarkorian Jaegers" were reduces to just their natural weapons, must of their weaponry having be destroyed in the fighting.
After 38 days of battle, organized resistance ended as the Demons brought in squads of Ghibrileth and Omox Demons, characterized by being exteremly unpleseant to bite.
The Kellid tribe responsible for the defense of that border was known as the "Brazen Boars".
Who shall be remembered
In the ancient house of war?
All the medals, all those stories
In the alley of the greats
Celebrated demon
Who personifies the dark
She stands behind you
Will you survive the night?
[Pre-Chorus]
Lost in time, extinguishing the light
Bow before, this lady ends your life
So sister
[Chorus]
Raise your blades
For the lady of the dark
Victor with the will to kill
With a all-conquering heart
Forever break the norm
She's the coming storm
Fighting side by side with man
She will win until the end
[Verse 2]
Killed to be respected
And to change her brother's fate
By bloodshed, earned her freedom
Made her home on foes carcass
And she crushed the Iron squadron
Killed the toughest of them all
No fear of dying
For the frontline she was born
[Pre-Chorus]
Betrayal, in revenge took her brother's spine
War to war, a place where she belongs
So brother
[Chorus]
Raise your blades
For the lady of the dark
Demon with the will to kill
With a all-conquering heart
Forever break the norm
She's the coming storm
Fighting side by side with man
She will win until the end
[Bridge]
She killed the reaper
She fears not the war
She claimed the life of deities
She'll fight for glory
She'll fight for lust
A lady wins the war
[Chorus]
Raise your blades
For the lady of the dark
Victor with the will to kill
With a all-conquering heart
Forever break the norm
She's the coming storm
Fighting side by side with man
She will win until the end
It is safe to say that neither Deskari nor Baphomet expected to only partially conquer one mortal realm in nearly a century of invading.
Which obviously meant that the defending Kellids were potentially useful.
Nocticula, who never was all that into senseless mass slaughter, promptly send agents to convert Kellids to her cause, in part by somewhat respected their cultural traditions and customs, for example by copying their singing style, and also by using her own Biography as the greatest Demon Lord Slayer of the multiverse, as well as the fact that she is a far prefereable overlord compared to Baphomet, let alone Deskari, to make considerable inroads into what remains of Kellid society.

The whole beginning of this Adventure Path is really difficult to keep momentum, I know. Sorry it feels so slow! Jacques will just keep chipping away at the various crew members' morale. :)
