I may be bending the rules a bit so ignore me. Your Dancing Lights Sustaining A Spell is your actual Exploration mode.
I am being nice.
As helpful as your spell is; I get it you want to roll something! That is why I am allowing you guys to roll some of these yourselves. Also, it further encourages rping, which I enjoy reading immensely.
So, everyone thank you.
Encounter mode we will be a bit more ridgid on format and rules because we are learning.
Remember if you are not certain of some Action that you want character to take; just rp it and let me figure it out...hehe.

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
I didn't know if 'moving' took an action, so you could either pay really good attention while doing so or control dancing lights...
Is there a page the explains the similarities and difference between exploration mode and encounter mode that we can read up on?
on a side note, the perception roll was for a 'sound' so it's not like when their searching for a trap or something...

Exactly!
Not lite reading i would blame Leo
You can just skip to Exploration and Encounter mode sections...
This is your actual Exploration mode Activity.

With Mother's Day tomorrow, I will be celebrating with the fam and won't be around to post until my late evening.
Happy Mother's Day!

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

DG, it’s 12.30am here and I’m in bed. Lol To remove the grey blocks, use pointer in right corner - click it then click the block you wish to remove - either drag it away or hit delete on your keyboard.

Dorian 'Grey' |

I tried that...lol. It wouldn't grab it or click.
Go to sleep and I shall figure it out...haha!

You’ve deleted so many without meaning to and now when you need to you can’t! Ha.

Dorian 'Grey' |

@Ness well played again! Airi was only 1 short...lol!
Tann has 1 Action left. I will get a post up soon...ish...

Dorian 'Grey' |

I forgot about a few things. I must have been totally caught up in the excitement of combat!
Item 1
EvocationLightMagical
Source Core Rulebook pg. 573 2.0
Price 15 gp
Usage held in 1 hand; Bulk L
An everburning torch is one of the most common applications of permanent magic. This torch sheds light constantly, requiring no oxygen and generating no heat. The flame can be covered or hidden, but can’t be smothered or quenched.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

That was a very sweet post, Leo. :)
I’ll post a short RP with Leo in my morning as it’s quite late here.

Dorian 'Grey' |

I will move us forward in the morning.
Yes, out the other side of barricade room.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Hope you’re okay after your Ortho appt, DG.

Dorian 'Grey' |

Thanks! Just some soreness. And exercise routine to do daily. We plan to go walking every evening for practice!
Warming up now...

Tannakin Skinker |

Walking is...
...a big step forward!
Jokes aside, happy for you!

I think if it requires particular religious knowledge of a god and the boon/magic of a god, then one couldn't gleam all that from motifs/sigils etc ... especially a fey who has only entered this world and is in human form. They may have heard the god's name and domain, but nothing more than that.
Ness doesn't have many trained skills, but Religion is one of them and it would be nice to have a chance to roll and post before the untrained folk get the answer and do so. I just ask for patience with time zones and such so I can get Ness to roll. Leo will certainly be able to shine via his scholarly background with lore and occult etc. He didn't pick up religion with his background. However, since Ness has, then it'd be nice to give her the chance to work it out/answer.
This isn't a dig at Leo. It's just a respectful request for a chance to play Ness and have her be useful to the group other than just healing them. Thanks. :)

I'm super ok with that Nyswyn, I was asking more to learn the rules.
I wasn't planning on posting again until tomorrow morning, but scanning stuff before I went to bed, so I figured I'd tell you here that I'm happy to let her have a shot at it.
I was more confused that the 'yes there's magic' was under the same spoiler as the 'religion check.'
As for Leo, he was a student before he was banished, so he may surprise you with what he knows :)

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Thanks! I'm good with your response, Leo. Even as a student, your character doesn't have religion in his scholarly background (having chosen the other pursuits given to you at character creation). So, for me, he'd fall short there right now until he levels and you give your guy trained Religion, for eg. :)
(Just an added bit, more for the GM: I'm unsure how someone can 'recall knowledge' in Religion (untrained) when they've had no study of the subject or even a background as for eg a worker in a church (possibly dedicated to said represented god) or a story heard/read of certain gods (including the one in question) in childhood. Then it would be a brief and rather general titbit of knowledge and nothing more substantial/informative. I could see that if someone chose Lore as a skill and studied the most common gods of these lands/culture, then sure that could be useful in recalling knowledge about Gozreh etc. as an alternative to Religion.)

Dorian 'Grey' |

The DCs will eventually rise above a number someone not Trained can reach.
Apparently the creators figured that spoiler info was not it.

Tannakin Skinker |

Happy to let Ness be the lead on Religion.
I am curious how knowledge is supposed to work in 2e. What would happen if none of us has the right knowledge skill for a check?
Ninja'd! Thanks!

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
yeah, I got ninja'd too, and I refreshed it a couple of times
hmmmmm, I'm sure he's really smart at everything :)
I'll try to remember, but if it feels like I'm stepping on toes, just remind me, we want everyone to enjoy the game. if she misses the roll and someone else hits it, hopefully we can get that information out without being frustrating.
For what it's worth I don't ever see Leo getting trained in religion. I did find it interesting that Fey live a very long time and eventually 'reincarnate' So Leo may literally know stuff he doesn't know he knows. But I don't expect that to interfere with everyone having a good time :)

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

If Ness missed the DC, sure open the attempt as untrained and work together to piece it together. However, it felt like the GM wanted to push forward and just allow Leo to have all the info when it really didn't make much sense for Leo to do so (no matter his INT score). ;p Sorry DG, no swipe at you intended just constructive feedback. :) If you wish to have untrained folk roll for Religion or any other trained skill, then perhaps have a spoiler with a DC 10 (for general, untrained info) and DC 15 and above (for more detailed/informative/trained stuff). That way people can each rp and those more in the know can feel useful in such a scenario.

Dorian 'Grey' |

Yes but works differently.
@everyone apologize for sparse post but I was in the middle of trying to convince a gold dragon that his centuries old plan in the making is supremely flawed!
@everyone For Recall Knowledge checks I will have a minimum DC and a CRIT DC to view Links.
I am considering possibly adding a middle DC for more information but there may be Feats for that...

Dorian 'Grey' |

Not having any posts from the OP in a week for a recruitment seems a bad foreshadowing of things to come to me.
I am not a big fan of that type of high-powered game for long anyways. Probably for the best.
I really need to stay away from recruitment threads! I already have 10 games plus this one. And that doesn't include my weekly AoA, EC and SF games!
I will need to go back to work eventually...lol!

Dorian 'Grey' |

@Ness Do you have an Ability/Feat that allows for Free Action Step?
I do see that you have Rock Runner Feat, so the Difficult Terrain would not be a problem.
Even from previous position (with +1 AC cover) you still knock his socks off...lol!

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

I don’t. I just assumed she could take a 5ft step because of Rock Runner.
Thanks, DG.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Hey guys, I have an urgent family emergency and I’ll be out of town tomorrow handling it. I won’t be able to post again until my Friday/your Thursday.
Thanks for your understanding.

Dorian 'Grey' |

We hope that all works out well for you, Ness! You and yours are in our prayers.

Tannakin Skinker |

Joining the chorus: best luck and wishes, Ness!

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

You guys are kind. I’ll be back posting tomorrow. Things went to crap and then I lost my voice. Regrouping and moving forward. Thanks!

Dorian 'Grey' |

Back in Michigan (or now on app) the classic rock radio station plays soft classic rock on Sunday mornings.
It's my favorite time of the week (assuming I am not at work).
They call it Sunday Morning Over Easy...lol.

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
Tann said she has a workable solution, So I wanted to jump here, so 10 coins, one weights less than the others. do we get to weigh the coins twice or three times? I can get it on the third weigh but not the second.
leave out one coin split four each side. If they balance the same the coin you took out is it. Whichever side is the lightest split those four coins, into two. Whichever side is the lightest split those two coins into one each side.
Three tries, don't know if I can get it in two tries.

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
Well, at least I can stop thinking about it, I'm good with you doing it, Leo will stand back and applaud.
Edit: I guess I decided to still think about it hmmm, should be able to do the same thing with three stacks of three. if the two on the scale balance, then the left over stack has it. so you find the light stack, then do the same, three one coin two on one off. if they balance the light one is the one off...
Go ahead and do it, I'll clap as well :)

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Ness will leave it to Tann and Leo and their puzzle brains and will follow their lead.

Dorian 'Grey' |

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope today finds you well!
We are going to see Dr. Strange so posts after.
Well played Leo!

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
Leo and Nyswyn take the time to look over the parchment, finding it as a valuable...corgi treat!
1 hour so you guys have time to decide how to approach this next problem....
Can he pick it up and bring it along like a dog would with a bone, or do we have to wait and let him finish it?

Dorian 'Grey' |

Your familiar can learn new spells independently of your patron. It can learn any spell on your tradition's spell list by physically consuming a scroll of that spell in a process that takes 1 hour.
Well, I will allow you to decide. I am fine with it, but, he is busy for the next hour chewing...lol.
