@Leo, please look below. I posted this for you yesterday, but you may have missed it. I’m posting it again as you asked what the heck class dc was on the roll20 chat.
A class DC sets the difficulty for certain abilities granted by your character’s class. This DC equals 10 plus their proficiency bonus for their class DC (+3 for most 1st-level characters) plus the modifier for the class’s key ability score.
Class DC is for things that your class can do that uses a DC, Monk stunning fist and some ki abilities for example . It’s also the spellcasting DC for casters.
Leo:
It seems Archives of Nethys is down as I can't bring certain things up to link you up to them.
On your char sheet:
Traits: Humanoid, Fey ===> (for now)
Class DC: 10+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier
Spell Attack: 1d20+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier
Spell DC= 10+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier

Ahh, thank you, I remembered seeing it, but I didn't corelate what it actually does. But my brains a little scattered now, so I'm not surprised. It will all make sense when I read it in the morning, after some coffee.
Thanks for the help, Nyswyn, have a good day and enjoy your weekend festivities.
My wife and I are taking our mothers down to my youngest daughters house Sunday, So I don't have to worry about the prep, I just get to show up and enjoy the holiday.

Dorian 'Grey' |

@Nys those are certainly nice guesses...enjoy your weekend!
@Leo what Nys said...hehe

While eye color is important; it is not the password phrase....
@Tannakin is your Con 12? Asking just in case you fall out of another tree fort.
Fun fact: Falling damage is 1/2 the distance fallen. Also, you receive the Prone Condition.
@everyone. PF2e is made up of 3 Modes: Encounter Mode(initiative!), Exploration Mode and Downtime.
I will be asking you for your default Exploration Mode. You may change it at any time. Just let me know when you do ahead of time. I will be asking for it often.
EDIT: Fixed?

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

I will keep posting until close of tonight.
Just a clarification question: You need us to give you a default exploration mode now (for start of game), DG?

Dorian 'Grey' |

No, whenever we get started. Just wanted everyone time to look at options.
Good night and enjoy!
Looking forward to seeing 4 posts with the starting words....tomorrow, tomorrow....

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Sometimes one must become the wave. ;)
Tomorrow, tomorrow.

WHY THE FIDDLESTICKS HAVEN'T WE STARTED YET?!?
Also, Dorian: I'll think about redistributing my bonuses... right now, I have 12 CON, it's true. I'm willing to take the risk to boost my CHA for Bon Mot and One for All... unwise, perhaps. But I only have 10 WIS. If I put my 12 STR into WIS, then maybe I'd see how it makes sense to go with 14 CON and 14 CHA, but I haven't yet. Instead, muscles. And big friendly smiles. And a glass chin. And bad decisions!

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

@Tannakin: We need the muscle on the front line. Keep your STR up! ;)

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

@Tannakin: I realise you're using a finessable weapon in the rapier, but that little bit of extra damage from strength helps at this level. Airi's our strongest with a STR of 18. Leo and Ness both have a STR of 10.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

@Leo, This is in regard to familiars:
James Jacob, Paizo Creative Director: "Familiars don't have their own attacks. In 2nd edition, they're not intended to be combat buddies; that's the role of an animal companion, not a familiar. In time, we'll expand the game... But as of the base game, familiars don't have attacks."
Familiars are more like helpers and role-playing opportunities. The form of familiars is flavour basically.

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
LOL, cool, it was more in jest. The corgi will be more for RP. "Sprite" Leo will use the corgi to ride away from combat :)
Leo will be my first true caster, everyone else before this has been "combat oriented with a few buff spells to make the party more durable in combat"
It feels like Leo will be more debuff, with some battlefield control and some buffing. I like the idea of using the 'trickster' angle of Sprites to effect.
But I've not gotten a good look at the spells yet, so if anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ears.

Dorian 'Grey' |

Apologize but it has been stated as Con 10 but thought you had Con 12.
I actually think your current array fine as is (assuming Con 12 not Con 10.)
...and, you know why...hehe!

Dorian 'Grey' |

We have all day for finding phrases...hehe.
As far as spells go, I would rather see those your choices, not mine (as with every choice of yours. (Especially eye color; very important).
I am both encouraged and excited to see yourur spin on a caster!
EDIT
Normally I would fix my typos (because it bothers me) but i am just starting my 1st cup of coffee...lol.
EDIT
As a Witch your Familiar receives 3 Abilities total (1 must be Scent per Corgi).
You can change the other 2 during Daily Preparations
Witch's Spells @1st
All that being said, I think Primal (druid) amd Occult (Witch) Tradions compliment each other quite well.

Thanks for the edited info, I think I had seen all that, but it's nice to have it confirmed.
Hmmm, I am at a loss. I've read the Quick Rules Reference Card, the Players Reference Card, the Otari page, the Quick Rules Player Reference and skimmed Playing the Game three times, (Maybe four). Checked all the categories under Pathfinder second edition and double checked on everyone's Roll20 character pages. Found nothing yet.
So just to be a jerk, I'm posting "The Password Phrase"
But he also said "Looking forward to seeing 4 posts with the starting words." So confusing...
I think I'll go work on Leo's crunch and fluff and come up with a name (and two more abilities) for his corgi.

Dorian 'Grey' |

I am glad that my poor techy tech tech skills stayed at the forefront during my feeble attempt to learn THE google/slides...ha!
The prep and additional resources provided on Roll20 seem to be a hit!
This group is exactly what I thought it would be: as hungry as I!
HINT: It was in a post I had written in advance of preparations for this Easter egg hunt...lol.
I tend to drop Easter eggs during my posts. Mostly for entertainment purposes as Tannakin definitely knows!
EDIT
@Nys too easy on that last hint? Shucks!

The password phrase: “What the fiddlesticks is taking so long!”

Tannakin Skinker |

Leo: I'm as new to 2e as you are, but as for spell choice I have one thought.
I built Tannakin because I wanted to try Bon Mot, which targets Will and hits Will... our foes will get either -2 or -3 to Will saves when it works. I almost named this character William Willsson.
If you grab a Will-targeting spell, you can follow up on my Bon Mots with your Mal Mots.
I have no real sense of what will work in practice. Daze cantrip? Command for trickster goodness? Charm for similar? Phantom Pain? The last is sorta blasty and looked kinda cruel until I noticed that it's nonlethal.
Edit: and Sleep, of course!

I think I've narrowed it down to these phrases.
in order of appearance
you 4 (gotta have faith, faith, faith!)
sticks, rocks and paddles will come later
This is exciting!
Remember Otari is your playground.
(Que scary music and maniacal laughter)
But Swash away!
Party People!
Wooohooo!
There may be other avenues that I am not aware, but doubt it...hehe!
Well played!
Good morning!
Now that being said there is nothing wrong with not following conversational wisdom either.
Let me know if this helps?
Tough decision....
Well done! Who's next?
Nice synergy!
Am I a pain in yer arse yet?
Anybody know how to summon a grumpy wizard....
I will be ready whenever you folks say...
what the fiddlesticks is taking so long!
I would allow it!
I find that most of my games crawl.
Airi probably shoved Tannikin out of their tree fort and Nys found them.
I wanted to research a Goblin who is addicted to coffee.
Wowsers! This is fantastic!
"Three Girls and a Tree Fort:"
I actually like the Witch.
So, yes to that little twist.
must be Sun up...almost?
Apologies!
a slightly sharp slab of stone and my hardly rusty red used to be iron chisel!
until these type of hints started to appear...
Merlin woke me up for breakfast...
This will be fun!
Toughness?
So, what happen was....
OK! You can stop holding your breathe
Fortunately two of my cohorts have selected one of them. I'm leaning towards agreeing with them. But I've still been chasing this 'egg' so I need to finish my character.
I'm thinking of naming the 'corgi' Ambrosius, maybe shortening it to 'Ambros'.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Nice work, Leo! ;)
===
DG, I hadn't chosen/listed two familiar abilities for Verdi for start of game.
I have now: Speech (Sylvan), Cantrip Connection (added cantrip: Ray of Frost)

Dorian 'Grey' |

@Nys enjoy your sleep and family.
I will post some introduction story today for our beginnings. I will be combing through everyone's Backstories (taking some artistic liberties) to lead us up to Module.

Don't Panic! And keep your laser ready!
I only did that because I will be at my orthopedic appointment tomorrow and I have my weekly AoA game tomorrow night.
Also because all 4 said the password phrase!
Take the time to finalize characters with each other. Also, of course, you may role-play out the scene.
I will get us started further most likely on Saturday.
Have fun!
EDIT: I also dropped more knowledge in Roll20.
How are things going for everyone? Any questions or concerning regarding any rules?
We will be addressing things mostly as they come up for everyone's benefit.
Familiars: They have the Minion Trait
Which means that you would need to spend 1 Action (◆) to grant it 2 Actions (◆◆) for the Round.
If you do not, it just stands there looking cute and fuzzy/leafy.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Yikes we've started! Nyswyn, how long ago did Leo follow Ambrose to the smell of your cave? Can he crash there with you, as long as he helps with the plants?
@Leo: When was your guy kicked out of school for pranking and then found himself wandering the woods as a human with his corgi? (This will help with finding a good time frame for their meet up.) Ness has been living in her cave in the forest since she was 19. She's now 25 and has her leafy leshy.
As to living arrangements, I'm pretty sure Ness' older brother Nokham and her male cousins in town wouldn't like that idea very much. ;) Perhaps, Ness would let him stay with her for the day/night and then the next day search out a safe cavern near by (within easy walking distance). She'd help Leo get set up and show him how him live off the land in the Immenwood (safe places to go, places he should keep far away from) and bring him into town with her once a week when she returns for supplies and to see her family and friends. As another time frame reference: Ness' known the girls (Airi & Tannnakin) for the past 7 years (meeting at their tree fort).

I was thinking it would be a very short period of time. The kicking out of school and the banishment would have happened at the same time. It may be that Ambrose causes him to realize it as they are wandering through the woods together. my assumption is that Ambrose would smell her camp/cave within the first twenty four hours.
My plan was that he meets the party hours or days the transition. I want him to be completely new to being human and on Golarion. I've not read any of the backstories, do the others live in their tree fort?
Is there a hollow tree nearby he could live in?
So what about Leo and Ambrose find her cave, the night before, he sleeps outside, and they go to town or to meet with the others, to figure out where he's going to live and find the missive?

Tannakin would totally offer the treehouse as interim housing... perhaps even forgetting to ask Airi if that's ok...
...I have a lot to learn.
Edit: we could also find you there. No doubt we have a cache of snacks, some blankets, and a waterskin. And a ladder you can pull up behind you to be safe(r) at night.

Thanks, he won't need it for too long, but don't tell him that. He thinks he's cursed as human forever.
So started spit-balling his back story and wound up here. I'll get his personality more spelled out in the morning.
Thinking it a very smart idea he decided to play a prank on the Dean. Sneaking into the Deans private library, using a device from the transmutation lab, he turned all of the books into cocoons. He was extremely proud of his accomplishment. Not only had he attuned the machine to turn the books into different types of butterflies based on their topics, but also was able to speed the maturation process up so that the cocoons would hatch in a matter of hours. Quite the feat for a first-year student. So when the dean would enter the Library that evening he would be flooded with butterflies.
Carefully returning the gnome-designed machine back to the transmutation Lab the tired sprite returned to his Elm dorm. Flopping on his dandelion capitulum stuffed mattress, fully dressed he fell fast asleep. Having the strangest dreams, he woke with something warm and wet against his face. He was being licked by a corgi! the smallest corgi he had ever seen. It was small enough to be a bug. But he could sense the odd little creatures emotions. This was his trusty mount Ambrose.
Realizing someone had shrank his dog, he sprang to his feet; almost tripping himself on the smallest elm tree root he had ever seen. Instead of towering over him like a majestic giant it was only a couple feet tall, then he saw the tiny grass, and the smallest squirrel. He realized the whole forest was minuscule. Then he felt it again, a sensation of frustration from Ambrose. The forest wasn't small he, Leialoha was huge.
He paused and looked down at himself. Instead of his fine green pantaloons they were a khaki color. His orange socks were a dull white, and his red and black lady-bug shoes with the silver buckles were brown with pewter. His three-quarter length jacket was no longer purple caterpillar silk, but brown leather, and his skin, his beautiful blue florescent skin was a pinkish-brownish pig like color.
Realizing the brown lump lying beside the tiny root was his pack he pulled out his sickle holding the blade to act as a mirror. His face was no longer blue but the same piggish color as his hands. His rose-pink lips some shade of dirty brownish red. His long pointy ears now round and small. His dark blue spiky hair flat and a brown similar to the color of dirt.
He was shocked and confused the night before he was a brilliant vibrant sprite. Now, his best guess, someone had turned him into a human. The worst of it, he realized that Ambrose felt something was off with the forest as well. They were no longer in the 'First World' but somewhere else. He had been cursed to a mortal land.
Not sure what to do, he realized that the tiny corgi had began to move through the tiny woods. Ambrose turned and woofed at him. Somehow he knew that the miniscule dog smelled something worth investigating. Not sure what else to do, he tucked his sickle in his belt, shouldered his pack, picked up his staff and followed the only thing he was familiar with, Ambrose.

@Leo: The backstory is wonderful so far.
Once he's on Golarion, I like the idea of Ambrose sniffing out/finding Ness' cave in the forest and then she can take Leo and the corgi to the treehouse (it's on the border of the forest), introduces him/them to Airi and Tannakin and Tannakin will immediately offer up the rather comfortable tree house as accommodation until Leo decides where he wants to live.

Seconded--that's a really great backstory and well-told!
Dorian, where would Tannakin have seen Tanderveil's request for help? Is it a help wanted poster or is Tanderveil actually so desperate as to request help from us miscreants?

Ok the next step will be meeting Nyswyn later that day near her cave.
Second step, Nyswyn introducing Leo to Tannakin and Sansaárë because they are all friends and in the hopes that he can crash in the treehouse.
Lastly him going with the ladies to see the town and eventually the information on the wanted poster.
How much of that do we want to RP or how much of it is backstory? I'm good with any or all of it either way. Any opinions?

Dorian 'Grey' |

Good Friday morning to everyone (evening).
There is one Gameplay post from da book as my Most Dangerous Dungeon DM says and the other is me.
Da Book says you got it personally but I added a post allowing for creativity.
I am leaving it up to you.
This is your story. I am only here to enjoy it!
I like the ideas being brandied about too.
EDIT Yes, Ness, that is also what I am thinking.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

I just made a post and we're all in the treehouse discussing Tamily's letter (I thought that's where we were starting with the GM's narrative). I assumed that meeting Leo and his pup was part of their joint backstory and we could say it's played out (briefly)? I'm sure we'll all learn more about each other as we progress. :)

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
I'm cool with that!
I may add another paragraph to his background; where he ponders and communes with Ambrose and then follows the dog to the cave. Before I do that, I'll probably take a quick look at everyone's background again and work on Leo's personality. At this point in time, he's very confused and a little depressed, but I don't see him staying that way for very long. Being Sprite, his personality will be capricious.
But before anything else, will read the in-game post and start thinking about my own.

Leialoha of the Sugalo |
Is it a help wanted poster or is Tanderveil actually so desperate as to request help from us miscreants?
Wow, I clearly did not have enough coffee in me when I read DG's post in game. It clearly was not a wanted poster like a assumed...Good catch Tannakin, it caused me to go back and properly read the posts, thanks!

Oh? What happened today with Orthopedic appointment? Funny you should ask...lol.
I need to see The orthopedic surgeon next Thursday. My Doctor doesn't like the way my right ankle is healing. Not a hopeful sign...pause, breathe and be thankful for what you are able to do every day.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

Since it's Easter tomorrow in the southern hemisphere, I just want to wish those who celebrate, a Happy Easter! :)

Dorian 'Grey' |

Happy Easter!
@everyone please look over Exploration Modes. I will be asking once we actually get to the Fishery....
Que menacingly appropriate music

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

DG: What's the distance between the tree fort and the fishery at the dock?
Ness' travel speed is 200 ft per minute/2 miles per hour (based on her 20 ft speed - the slowest of the group). Verdi will sit on her shoulder, on the look out for anything of note or threat (but she has a land speed of 25ft - 250 ft per minute/2.5 miles per hour). She'll generally be on Ness' person (out in the open or hidden away depending on the circumstance/threat level). I think once we're inside the warehouse, the Leaf Leshy will hide away in Ness' coat pocket, occasionally/steamily peeking out to see what's happening and possibly helping Ness.
Once at the warehouse, Ness may wish to Defend: 1/2 speed and will raise her shield before she enters. If there are locked doors and possible traps (via the Search exploration activity) then she'll leave that to the more roguish of the crew. Once inside, as they move through the warehouse, she may change her exploration activity to Investigate: to determine what the creature is, where it could be hiding/living via following tracks etc. If at any stage, she feels there is need to Detect Magic, then that's something she'll do, but only if warranted.
I'm putting this here now as I may not be on the boards much tomorrow and I don't want to hold up the group.

Dorian 'Grey' |

@Leo he may want to do surgery (after 9 weeks?). I am really not wanting surgery (9 weeks!) but he is the professional.
We have moved down to Florida permanently. I can't travel long distances so we didn't have much choice.
My wife did it all and is exhausted. Bless her for being strong!
By the way, depending on which Exploration mode you are in will also allow different Initiative skills to be used.
Perception is the default but, as example, if Avoid Notice (Stealth) or Investigate (appropriate Recall Knowledge) and other I will allow if appropriate.
EDIT Paizo boards are being sticky again!
@Ness our story so the Tree fort can be say 1 mile? Seems fair and totally not random and decided at this moment...lol.
I agree that the Intro post from Da Book is a bit Ready, Set, Go but the entire Beginner's box mode is extremely basic. Hence my 2nd post for you guys to make how this starts yours.
@Leo I generally just use Spoilers for different languages. I have seen many games try to use different real language but never lasts long...lol.

Nyswyn Greenseyn |

I will be on and off the boards at odd hours tomorrow, so I'll read your next post DG and can make a proper decision re the exploration mode.
As to the one mile distance - does sound fair. Thanks. :)
I'll go with using spoilers for the different languages. Since Verdi has the ability to speak in and understand Sylvan this day, then Ness will be speaking Sylvan to her.
Okay, I really need to go lie down and unwind - so tired. I'll check the board again once I wake up...and before the Easter breakfast extravaganza begins! ;)
Night from this side of the pond. To the northerners - have a great day! Airi, hope you're doing better today. :)
