Australia. Close! ;)
Things are good as can be expected with a pandemic. It’s after 2am here in Oz, so I should go get a few hours of sleep. Lol
I have faith that you’ll create a wonderful character to join the three girls (a leaf leshy) and a tree fort.
Night! Hope you have a good day RH. :)

So close, I knew it was that hemisphere, but couldn't remember which.
Yeah, the Pandemic, yuck.
Good to hear your well. Get some sleep.
I will try and put something together that won't be too embarrassing.
Edit: Thanks Sansaárë! I'm sure it will be a blast, I've really enjoyed the times I've played with DG, so hopefully I can't mess this up too bad :)

Welcome RH!
I actually like the Witch. Solid caster that depending on Patron choice grants access to any of the 4 Magic Traditions (Arcana, Primal, Occult, Divine).
Let me know if you need help?
Please read my previous posts about using your ABCDs when creating your characters.
Have fun!
Tannakin Skinker
I've not taken the opportunity to learn it yet. So this if my first time. Looking at the party we could use a arcane caster, so I'm strongly considering a witch. If I don't think I can handle it I'll fall back to a switch hitting ranger.
Likewise! This is my first 2e game and before we've even started I've already transitioned from "what, three whole actions?" to "wait, I want to do four things..."

Ok, still trying to wrap my brain around the 'Plan.' "Menace in Otari" is sort of a precursor. And were going to possibly switch characters and party roles, and then start over and do "Troubles in Otari".
How likely is everyone to keep their original character?
I had told DG that I think a 'Sprite' witch would be fun. When I build a character I tend to do the fluff and the crunch together, hoping to make them interesting. Doing an arcane caster is a little different for me and was hoping for something to bring it together.
DG would it be possible, to play a 'human' witch in "Menace in Otari" and then play a 'Sprite' witch in "Troubles in Otari"?
Would it be too weird if it were the same character? Only that he was sent to the 'human world' as punishment, and he had to live as a human and earn back his sprite form? So in essence playing a sprite (new to this world) in a human body during "Menace in Otari" then 'rewarded' with his 'Sprite' form but still banished?
Edit Hey Tannakin, I've not gotten far enough into the crunch to know what that means :)
But I'll get caught up!
Dorian 'Grey'
@Tannikin yuppers! Now you are learning...lol. Although, I absolutely love the Action system in PF2e. I feel like my character can do plenty in a turn.
But yes having a 4th Action at times would be handy. Eventually, as you level there are Feats/Abilities that combine 2 Actions into 1 so keep a weathered eye out for those.
@RH I am always entertained by your flavors!
My plan is to run "MiO" then allow any adjustments to happen prior to starting "TiO" @2nd (PFS-style).
My hope is everybody learns enough of the System by that point to make those decisions themselves.
I would enjoy having the contiguity throughout the Campaign leading into Abomination Vaults at 5th.
So, yes to that little twist. I can even incorporate it into the module.
Read the spoilers in Gameplay for creative ideas.

Might be a dumb question, but do we get a 'General Feat' at 1st lvl? I found "General feats are gained at 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th, and 19th level but it didn't say anything about one at creation.
Oh, this is Leo, RH's Witch human, who happens to be a cursed sprite. The Dean at the academy didn't find his prank funny. So. Leo and his pet Corgi are on Golarion until he get's his crap together...

RH, this is the section under General Feats in the 2e rules:
This section specifies the levels at which your character gains general feats. Most classes grant a general feat at 3rd level and every 4 levels thereafter. At each of these levels, you can select any general feat (including skill feats) as long as your character qualifies for it. More information can be found in Chapter 5: Feats (page 254).
My Druid gets her first general feat at 3rd.

That's what I had found, but I was hoping there was more, Thanks.
And still running on four hours sleep?
Dorian 'Grey'
Phooey! Paizo gremlins got me post!
And Ninja'd by RH!
@Nys must be Sun up...almost?
@RH We have our SF game on Fantasy Grounds tonight
(pssst...don't tell my wife but I will sneak peeks at ypur questions and answer them between blasting robots!).
There is a Human Feat that allows a General Feat at 1st. But Nys is correct.
Nyswyn Greenseyn
And still running on four hours sleep?
Yes! Went to bed 2.15am and woke up at 6.15am. Work won’t wait for anyone, especially with a short work week with the Easter holiday coming up.
Enjoy the trip to Columbus and seeing the Marvel exhibition with the granddaughter tomorrow! :)

Here we go regarding the proficiencies: Proficiences in 2e
Untrained: +0, Trained +2, Expert +4, Master +6, Legendary +8.
In 2E, you no longer have a BAB. Instead you have a proficiency modify that is based on your level that you apply to all of your attacks.
So, for eg, if you're trained then it's your level (1) plus your proficiency 2= +3
Trained skills= Your Trained Proficiency/level plus your Class Key Ability modifier. So at level 1: 3+INT modifier for witch
Nyswyn Greenseyn
No problem. :) It took me a while to wrap my head around it when I first started creating Nys. This is my first go with 2e, as well.
Dorian 'Grey'
Apologies!
Thank you, Nys! We are playing SF and blasting robots!
PF2e is Proficiency based for everything.
(level+prof+Ability mod)
So, every level everything increases by 1 (plus if any Abilities increases).
Dorian 'Grey'
A.= Human. Two +2 Free boosts (Int and ?)
B.= Scholar +2 Int (or Wis) and one +2 free boost (any not prior boost)
C.= Witch +2 Int
D. Decide on four free +2 boost (none the same)
It is suggested that one always max main ability.
Skills:
2 (including 1 lore) Background
8 Witch (patron skill plus 3 + Int modifier)
___
10 total
Feats:
1 skill feat from Background
1 Ancestry Feat from Human
1 class feat from patron
NINJ'D! Well played! Looking good. I like the flavor of the entire concept.
Edit! Focus spells are only cast using Focus points. Each class may (or may not) begin play with a Focus spell and a Focus pool of 1. Witch does.
You may cast ot as a spell (using indicated Actions) by spending a Focus point.
During Exploration mode, you may Refocus for 10 minutes to gain a Focus point back.
So, you may use ot 1/ combat basically.
As an aside, Treat Wounds also takes 10 minutes per patient.
Focus spells are fun and entertaining. Oracles and Witch's use them a lot. Any class may take Feats for them.
Nyswyn Greenseyn
Leo:
It seems Archives of Nethys is down as I can't bring certain things up to link you up to them.
On your char sheet:
Traits: Humanoid, Fey ===> (for now)
Class DC: 10+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier
Spell Attack: 1d20+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier
Spell DC= 10+Proficiency bonus + Key Stat Modifier

This website helped me a ton, Leo! Good for brainstorming lots of concepts. It's a fairly robust browser-based 2e character program.
Ness... that's not enough sleep and a swashbuckler shouldn't have to tell a druid that ;)
Nyswyn Greenseyn
@Tannakin: Unfortunately, that's an average night for me. Insomniac - brain doesn't shut down. Gotten used to living off a few hours of sleep but health and immunity have suffered for it.
That pathbuilder character program is cool. I spent a whole day crunching numbers with paper and pen. lol
Dorian 'Grey'
I laugh at your techy tech...errr...tech! And I raise you your pen and paper for a slightly sharp slab of stone and my hardly rusty red used to be iron chisel!
I absolutely am salivating to DM this group!
Seems you folks are learning quite quickly.
Any specific questions regarding Fluff or Crunch?
Nyswyn Greenseyn
I'm good with technology, but I'm a traditionalist with certain things. I read real books in hand (no techy reading for me). I love the feel of paper under hand/fingers. And, I design all my characters with paper and pen. Old habits die hard. ;)

Ness, if you were a little closer than 8000 miles away (and actively wanted it), I'd send you a homemade sleeping potion to try. An herbal remedy that knocks me all the way out into thy dark and dreamless sleep of the fuzziest variety. Not saying it would work--I've known tough insomniacs who shrug it off--but it'd be worth (taking) a shot.
While I occasionally read books on devices, paper is waaay better. Work gave me an electronic copy of a book to read a week ago and I totally went out and bought the paper copy... And paper's better for character creation most of the time, too. But Pathbuilder sure sped up my process.
Kinda funny that we're a bunch of luddites playing on computers, except I guess PbP is a weird hybrid of the old and new schools, isn't it?
Speaking of luddite opinions... Dorian: I, for one, would be happy to play mapless while you learn "the google," if you want!
I think I'm good on fluff and crunch for now:
Fluff: a corgi familiar
Crunch: falling out of a treehouse
...wait, that does bring up a fluff question. How did we meet you, Leo? No rush, but I'm curious how a sprite stuck in a human body works in practice. I have a hunch that I might be living with one.

Dorian, there’s always Roll20 for maps if it saves you time learning Google Slides. I use the latter when I’ve made/used maps but in all my recent games as a player the GMs have opted for Roll20.

So the only difference, a hex is a specific regular spell from the list that you can cast using the focus point. How do you get more of them?
Thanks for the character program Tannakin, it reminded me of a couple things I'd forgotten and let me verify my numbers. I'm somewhere in-between on the tech vs. luddite conversation. I don't mind tech, but doing my own math helps he understand it and typing/writing it out helps me remember it.
As for how we meet, Leo will wander out of the woods confused following his Corgi. It's been a rough day, His dream of being a wizard gone, getting kicked out of school for pranking the dean, banished from the first world then being cursed as a human. Now instead of riding his corgi Hes following the dog, possibly only because the little guy has promised to teach him spell and possibly because he seems to know where he's going.
I have to decide if I'm going to give the Corgi it's own Icon, and if so, if it will be one I already have or if I'm creating a new one. Once I chose, we'll give him a name.
Nyswyn As for insomnia, I have a stiff shoulder, so between five and six hours sleep is my limit. At least I sleep during the night now instead of working third shift. We had to move my mom in with us due to advanced dementia. So I stay home and watch her and take care of the household. But I still get to post a ton.
DG, I still have to select gear (it's looking like a Witch Kit is all he'll need) and spells. Then get the Corgi's crunch done. Then fill out the gaps in backstory, personality and appearance.
I won't be back on until tonight due to the museum trip, and plan on finishing the crunch and fluff tomorrow.
Anyone have any ideas where the corgi should lead Leo to first? Is there a literal tree house?

Hmmm...and I guesstimated I had until Friday until these type of hints started to appear...
Lol.
Merlin (our cat alarm clock) woke me up for breakfast so I decided to take a peek here...hehe.
I will take a look at it today.
EDIT
@RH Hex Focus spells can be gain with Witch Feats. Those use Focus points.
Hex cantrips (Evil eye) can be used without spending a Focus point.
May only use 1 Hex per Round though.
They are separate from your actual spells.

Leo, Nyswyn lives in a cavern in the forest and she spends her day collecting herbs, planting seeds, tending seedlings and befriending animals. You may cross paths with her first.
Your corgi familiar isn’t as cute as Ness’ leaf leshy familiar. ;) However, she’ll use her wild empathy to befriend the Corgi and teach it to sniff out truffles in the forest. Lol
Leialoha of the Sugalo
Very cool, once things are rolling the corgi will sniff his way to your cave. It sounds like a place a witch and his dog would approve of. He may not be as cute, but once were sprite size again we can ride him...
Thanks for the EDIT DG, I'll work on learning more as the game goes. So what type of Hints can we look forward to?
Dorian 'Grey'
Actually Cackle costs a Focus point but Evil Eye doesn't because it's the cantrip not Cackle.
You should have 2 Focus points starting out, although may only refocus 1 until later levels.
I meant you guys subtle hints to get started...lol.
I was learning google slides because some folks do not care for Roll20. I will play around with maps today.
I do have my orthopedic appointment Friday and my weekly AoA game (on Roll20) Friday evenings.
Leialoha of the Sugalo
Ok, will note that.
Like I said, finish not later than tomorrow.
Also, Happy to get started whenever, Leo (not using full name because names have power) will be dazed and confused early, then curious, then gregarious prankster.
Planning on him chattering, like, a lot...
Planning on him being mercurial in a happy go lucky sort of way.
Back story may change often because, Fey...
He wanted to be a wizard, but that ship has sailed. But will learn to use spells from corgi, eventually realizing he's a witch. Sadly his 'cackle' will sound more like a giggle...
Dorian 'Grey'
This will be fun!
I am thinking Leo will fit right in...hehe.
Have fun today! We are big Marvel fans here.
EDIT:
Toughness? Are you taking the Human Feat General Training? I find it funny that you found both Human ways to get 2 General Feats @1st...lol.
Really feels PFS ish...ha!

OK! You can stop holding your breathe (Parrot). Roll20 is ready for your shenanigans!
Each of you should have a Character Sheet; complete with Avatar and control(?).
I just used these Avatars, but you may change them at any time.
I will begin formulating the opening post for Gameplay in my head, while everyone peruses The Roll20!
I shall post it once I heard the password mentioned in Discussion from everyone...lol.
EDIT: I also shared a bunch of homework...lol!
Everything should show up in your Journal Tab. It is located Top Right of over from Map.

Just a courtesy heads-up: It'll be a busy Easter long weekend for me and mine. Tomorrow is Good Friday, here, and so I'll have a house full of people and will need to host/feed them. Ha. It'll be busy until my Monday (public holiday here in Oz) when it'll revert back to just the four of us - giving me time to sit down, check the boards and post regularly. So, please expect only sporadic posts at best from me for the next few days. :)
Nyswyn Greenseyn
LOL, don't interrupt his nap! I've used the maps on roll20 but never actually played on it.
I think we're doing all the playing (via gameplay posts) here and only accessing the maps for combat and making some discussion over at Roll20?
@DG: Thanks so much for posting all that information on the journal in Roll20. Excellent cue cards/help.
