Awesome and thanks. :)

He reaches into Kelp's saddlebags and pulls out masterwork trident, an masterwork underwater heavy crossbow (with 0 bolts), two potions of cure light wounds, a potion of heroism, four potion sponges, a compass, a signal whistle, and a carved obsidian figurine worth 30 gp.
I'm curious: Are there really no bolts?

![]() |

For a CORE game we are picking up some neat stuff. Now if you want to outfit your character for an underwater adventure you can. :)
I guess the idea is that if you are already using a crossbow above water then you already have the bolts on your character sheet.
Or not. :)

It's very tempting to take a level of fighter so Nightkit can use a trident - but could do that with a feat. Underwater Crossbow - hope that's on the Chronicle.

Alas, Selfi just kills things like a hunter might--without a lot of preamble. It's Agirran here who is the loud and scary one.

"You can have it if you want," she eventually answers Merida, though with a bit of regret. It really is a nice sword. "A magical weapon is always going to be of some use."
@Bobbie: Just a thought - would it be ok for you if you took the +1 frost longsword and let Merida borrow your own +1 longsword for the rest of this mission? Then you would have the better magic weapon for combat - and Merida gets a magic weapon as a backup if she really has to go into melee. Everybody wins! ;-)

Okay, here's a bit of insight into the dragon fight. You guys are playing high tier with a 4 player adjustment. The only adjustment the module states for four players is to drop the dragon's hp to 30 hp. In low tier that means going from 37 hp to 30 hp. For high tier, that means going from 68 hp to 30 hp. And the dragon only fights till they drops below 17 hp before surrendering. So effectively they only had 13 hp before they gives up.
That's why it was such a quick fight.
They're still a bit pompous. They know they lost the fight, but they're acting like they won and you guys are their servants.

![]() |

So that means after Sylvesters Magic Missiles it was Merida's only well aimed arrow that ended the fight. Lucky!
Seems to me that the 4 player adjustment mechanic works quite well.
A full high tier party has more durable, has a higher BAB and therefore a much better chance to hit the high (more than 18) AC of the dragon. Every +1 counts!
Also, much more higher level spells (depending on party composition).

Yeah sure! You can have it :)

The dragon has a fun personality. He would make a good character in a home campaign where you could have the PCs running errands for him. Unfortunately this is a one and done. I could see Sylvester one day being a powerful sorcerer and being the major-domo of this dragon just for kicks. :)

They are out there but they are rare. Especially true dragons. I remember encountering at least a white and a blue dragon. The blue dragon was fun. My bard was able to negotiate safe passage for a mere 2500 gold for the entire party. For a high level party that was a true bargain.
The dragon we just fought could have easily killed the entire party without too much trouble if he was at full strength and willing to fight to the bitter end. Granted this is a core party and thus not insanely optimised but still. :)

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner! Been a busy time with family up in the mountains.
I'm likely to use the Online Support Program. So there's a potential for boons! If interested, feel free to PM me your email. I believe the organizers then roll and if you win, they will email you with your boon.
Will get out your chronicles tomorrow morning.

Ooooh, a chance to get the "Share the Wealth" boon! :-D
Expect my email in your inbox in a few seconds!

Sure, I guess. Although I think we might be a bit past 'January 31, 2022'. ;)

That's... kind of strange. If I may ask: Which year do you live in? Because my calender still shows 2021... :-P ;-)

GM Mauve |

I remember reading that due to Covid, they extended the date indefinitely. But may be mistaken! Either way, it *should* work! May take a week or two before it's reported as they aren't the fasted at reporting. Let me know if you don't see it reported and I can see what I can do.
Just missing Sylvester's email. Once I get that I can submit the game to OSP. If Sylvester doesn't want a boon or is uncomfortable sending me their email, please let me know either way.
Also, here are the chronicles! If anything looks wrong, I can update it!
Look forward to gaming with you all in the future.

Thanks for being the GM. I don't really like giving out my email so please proceed without it. As for the chronicle it looks good but the negative boon that we all gained, Debt to the Brine is pretty brutal. Much better than a TPK I guess but still, ouch. :)

Thank you ... and playing at high tier meant that Nightkit was able to afford everything on the Chronicle she wanted as well as replacing her consumables.
So now she has a potion of Water Breathing to play with as well as a Touch of the Sea wand. :)

![]() |

Yuck, I guess we should have killed the dragon! Thanks for running this! I'm going to buy the scroll of teleport with the extra cash from this one to get that crossed off immediately. Thanks!

![]() |

Feel free to do what you like but I suggest waiting until you have 15 XP to pay it off. You might get chronicle access to a scroll of Teleport (and only need to pay 150 gold).
Killing an non-evil creature that has surrendered is problematic. I am not sure if he would have allowed us to beat him without fighting back at any rate.

That's the joy of RPGs: failure and setbacks are always part of the game :) (still, that's a lot of money!)
Thanks for running the game, GM. Best of luck to everyone in your next adventures.

Well whenever it is you're late. ;)
GM, one quick correction needed: Selfi is sub-tier 1-2 not 'out of tier'.
We could come back later and kill the talking lizard. I have a character who made a hat out of a sea cat's head once, another hat and cloak might be in order. It's not like it even has a big poisonous barb on it's tail. ;)

Out of tier means we played low tier PCs in a scenario ran in high tier which means you get out of tier rewards. Nightkit was also level 2 so she too was 'out of tier'.
So your Chronicle is correct.
And if we do go back and kill the talking lizard, Nightkit would want to wear part of it's hide as a performing outfit/swimming outfit :)

Happy New Year, everyone!
Thanks for running the game, GM Mauve - I had fun during this adventure. :)
Unfortunately, I'd need two small corrections in my chronicle:
- Starting XP: Merida had only 3 XP at the beginning of the mission, not 4.
- The boxes initial prestige and initial fame are filled incorrectly, the numbers should be swapped.

Happy New Year everyone! May all your rolls come up 20's even on the d6's! XD
