Since there is interest and a few folk that seem to want to play (including myself) it has come to my attention that someone has to bite the bullet and be GM (or DM). And so, as I own the first book and now have a slightly more experience beyond zero, I can do it. I am starting another term at my university so I will actually have some spare time if anything. So I'll lay out the ground rules below so that we can get this recruitment drive up and running.

Bare in mind I am a new GM and shall do my best.

Character Creation
Character Creation will follow by standard character creation. Only 1st party content is allowed, no 3rd party please. I do ask that ancestries (races, which ever ya prefer to call it) be from the Core or Advanced rulebook, but feats for such options are allowed beyond that. No stat less than 8 and no stat more than 18 at creation. 15 GP to outfit your character. Background will be picked from the Players Guide found here below.

Players Guide

Freebies
Lore: Absalom is given to PCs for free
Choice of either Lore: Detective or Guard
x2 Handcuffs
x1 Slightly Used Baton
x1 Shiny new badge with your name on it.

Background
You are a native of Absalom first and foremost and you are one of its many protectors working the streets to protect those around you. Some of you may be virtous or grizzled, a few even corrupt in their ways and have lost the way. However you all are supposed to serve the city in some fashion and the current assignment to Edgewatch might be a change in pace.

Flaws or Quirks
Does your character have an addiction, an interesting quirk, some sort of tick? Will be used for RP.

Alignment ways I'd say I prefer those of a more Lawful orientation, but those of a more Evil bent I'll allow, just as long as your character isn't a necromancer trying to become the next bonafide liche.

I'll also work with the background, including adding in a bit of extra bits in the downtime.

Posting
1/ a day during the week, no posting on the weekend Saturday and Sunday.

I'll be accepting 5 applicants and will have a cut off at 11:59PM EST August 14th. Selection will be on 11:59PM August 15th. Good luck detectives.

Grand Lodge

It is a PBP BTW.

I'm interested. I've got an orc transmuter wizard that I'd like to play. Something like...

Name: Ulk Skullsplitter
Ancestry: Orc (Hold-Scarred)
Background: Post Guard of All Trades (Lore: Gladiatorial)
Class: Wizard (Transmuter; Staff Nexus)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Ulk's family came into Absalom on less than ideal circumstances, acting as leg-breakers and hired muscle. The most recent generations have tried to push back on their troubled past and raised enough money to put many of their younger children through prestigious schools. Ulk was one such child who (unwillingly) went into the Arcanamirium. He slacked off in his studies, despite an obvious talent for it, and often cut classes to watch bloodsport in the Irorium. His mother and father looked down on his hobby, and were less then impressed when he dropped out of the arcane college to join up with the guard. Ulk still tries to play the big tough guy, despite his academic background, and frequents the Irorium just to cheer on the magnificent fighters.

Mechanical Details:
Str 16
Dex 12
Con 12
Int 18
Wis 10
Cha 10

Skills: Acrobatics +4, Arcana +7, Athletics +6, Crafting +7, Intimidation +3, Occultism +7, Performance +3, Society +7, Absalom Lore +7, Gladiatorial Lore +7, Guard Lore +7

Ancestry/Skill Feats: Orc Ferocity, Dubious Knowledge

Spellbook
Cantrips: Chill Touch, Dancing Lights, Detect Magic, Electric Arc, Message, Prestidigitation, Ray of Frost, Shield, Sigil, Tanglefoot

1st Level: Fear, Goblin Pox, Jump, Mage Armor, Shocking Grasp, True Strike

Quirks:
Ulk is an intelligent and well-educated young man, but he tries hard to hide that about himself. He subconsciously catches himself using higher-level vocabulary and forces himself to "dumb it down" in hopes that no one catches him out as an academic. He also has a strained relationship with his parents who want nothing more than for him to "clean the Skullsplitter name," through his studies. He attempts to visit or write letters to his family when he can, usually fudging details about his line of work.

Thank you for checking in with interest, looks all good to me.

aka "Sergeant Salt"

Years of serving underpayed on the Muckrakers, coupled with a propensity for getting in way over her head and outta her depth, have all but utterly quashed the youthful idealism Lavanna once joined the force with. As her parents are active and unrepentant criminals, whom she still loves with all her heart (and turns a blind eye to their own petty larceny), she reconciles these opposing worldviews - being at once lax and tough on crime - in deific alliance with Besmara, donning rapier and buckler to protect and serve, seeing the city guard as little more than a more goodly-aligned gang itself. A gang to which she is, by dint of duty and paycheck, oathbound. And by Gozreh, can these beats cops drink!

Pessimistic and cynical, Lavanna's offer to transfer to Edgewatch is little more than a prospective if unexpected pay increase - not quite the lateral move in the career she had expected to dead end in! - rekindling, if ever slightly, that spark that motivated her to want to clean up her side of town once upon a time. She finds herself at the local pub, starting what might be her final beat on this side of the docks - the Puddles as it were - having already dropped off the signed forms at the precinct, waiting to hear back.

"The usual" she says to the bartender, who is already sliding the short 4-ounce shotglass across the greasy bartop...

...

As of writing this, the character is almost complete (click profile) - Excited to be considered!

Grand Lodge

Very nice, I like it. Two very good submissions so far, very excited.

I would be very interested in playing in this campaign. I’ll start putting a character together right away and will post before the deadline. Thank you.

I'm also interested, have a character idea, will just need to work on the background.

Hmm, any flaws or anything like that, something that comes out in how they act, speak, or talk? Recreations?

Born in Absalom, he was the son of a locksmith and was destined for this trade. The earthquake demolished his father's shop and killed him in the process. Not knowing where he should go from here, he found himself in the Harbor Guard. He did not care for the corruption of those around him but still wanted to do good so he found himself fame as a Monster Hunter. Doing this by night, it really affected his day job. Seeing potential in him, Lieutenant Lavarsus has now transferred him to the Edgewatch.

Quirks: As a monster hunter, Locke would often make up things about the monsters he would face. While he is quite knowledgable, he also liked to throw in some dubious knowledge into the mix. He is proud to be in the Edgewatch and keeps his uniform clean each night. He thinks of himself as a role model, and presentation is important. He never drinks and prefers tea most of the time. He can always be found with a toothpick in his mouth. He wears a heavy, fur rimmed coat from his mother that she wore for adventures that counts as Hide Armor.

———————-
Flaws and role playing ideas:
Genuinely not capable of telling a lie. Not only is he not good at it but it’s never really sit right with him and that makes him even worse at it. He speaks low and gruff, with sort of a mumble due to the toothpick in his mouth. He will take offence to any insults to the Watch.

This'll probably be rejected, but I'm trying anyway.

Name: Xreshgur Xyggaraz
Ancestry: Sprite (Draxie)
Background: Grizzled Muckrucker
Class: Investigator (Forensic Medicine)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Xyg originally joined the Muckrucker's as an analyst, wanting to contribute to fixing her poor community. Over time, her tasks became more field-oriented until she was eventually "promoted" to a full-fledged detective. After an incident involving an exorbitant number of snakes, she was ready to give up, but a chance in another district may just be the light she needs.

Feats:
A: Evanescent Wings
B: Experienced Tracker
C: Battle Medicine, Forensic Acumen, Known Weakness

Quirks: Xyg has a deep-seated trauma from having been eaten, but has otherwise grown numb to violence and death. More positively, she also has an extreme love of sweet foods and will eat her weight in them if given the opportunity. Predictably, she is not fond of having to use devices built for larger beings.

I’m intrigued to play with this type of character. He did say it was races from the Core or APG. If the race gets rejected, is there a back up race?

Thank you for the interest, though I am only looking from that of the Advanced Player's Guide and the Core Rule Book for ancestries.

I'm putting together a halfling Swashbuckler. I was thinking of having be a criminal informant who works with one of the PCs rather than being a member of the watch to start with, using the Criminal Background. Would that work?

Let me look into it. It does assume that the PCs are members of the Edgwatch (though has options to do without). I'd say stay with one of the options present atm in the guide.

However you can be easily an undercover guard that acts as an informant. Sorry about that. Though if I picked we could work something out.

I can just as easily take the ex-con token guard.

Players and Characters so far under consideration...

-Ulk Skullsplitter (Ruzza): Orc Wizard of the Post Guard
-Lavanna Saltspray (rainzax): Halfling Swashbuckler Muckrucker
-Drogyn Locke (Orsen): Dwarf Rogue of the harbor Guard

Looks like a nice group shaping up. Also, I believe that Salty is a cleric.

Grand Lodge

Sorry, was late and was thinking pirate. Will fix for later.

Verdant Wheel

Sergeant Salt - who only allows her closest allies to use nickname monikers - is a pirate, cleric, swashbuckler, beat cop, and heavy drinker, who, besides occasionally omitting "unimportant" details, has immaculate paperwork skills, filling out incident reports quickly, accurately, and thoroughly, with a too-practiced hand, and without whining or complaining to boot!

Salty is a Cleric

Note to self, never do things while near black out drowsy. XD

The Exchange

I also have a goblin champion built if the party needs more of that in the final build. If that helps at all. The goblin champion would be a lot funnier, if funny is more your thing.

Here he is!

I've changed from Swashbucklet to Alchemist. He's a former drug dealer/cooker/grower who was recruited to the watch after serving time.
He has a chip on his shoulder about the historical enslavement of Halflings. Now he's just trying to make the best of things in the city at the centre of the world.

Te profile has a link to the character sheet which is mostly done.

Grand Lodge

Thinking of playing a Varisian Rogue. This would be my first foray into PF 2e, so if chosen, please bear with me. I am trying to see how viable a bare knuckle boxing rogue build might be. Background I chose was the Undercover Lotus Guard. Still trying to put the character together...

I'll consider an idea for the game. Would you be okay with a fighter using the Everstand Stance and following feats? I think having a shield fighter seems pretty neat.

Gobo Champion sounds cool.

Whoooops! If Ulk makes the cut, he'll tread lightly because Salt has got plenty of monikers to go by!

Ruffian seems to make the most sense for this. A dedication to Monk in the 2nd level slot would make this work pretty well I would imagine. Although Thief would get Dex to damage on the unarmed strikes too so this might be a good option as well, if not very good thematically.

If you play this Rogue, that would mean there’d be no need for the other Rogue and make my Champion option would make the most sense.

I'm thinkin' an ex-criminal tengu investigator. Ex-con token guard trait, Empiricism methodology.

Because what AP is more perfect for an Investigator?

But first, I must go to bed.

Love this.

More about Tedriss:

He grew up the kind of poor that no one wants to know about. His family all engaged in extra-legal activity and marginal survival strategies from begging, petty theft, drugs to sex-work. One day at 16 years of age, Tedriss' luck ran out and he was imprisoned for several years for possession of pesh.

They took away his book of formulae and all of his tools. And over the year, he has lost a lot of what he learned. Upon getting out, life was just as hard as ever. He lost track of his family and friends from before and had no network. Being offered a job with the Watch was bizarre and, frankly offensive but he figured, the city watch is the biggest gang in town.

He has an income, a roof over his head and food on his plate. And! He's started rebuilding his alchemical knowledge, one formula at a time. He's actually starting to see how his background gives him an angle other watchmen lack.

While the Martial Artist archetype would be neat for another build, I would rather this character be more fringe rogue. He's definitely modeled after a certain tattoo-sportin' bare knuckle boxin' parkey, I mean traveler... ^_^

As for Ruffian, I am going with the Undercover Lotus Guard just to fit the campaign better. In other campaigns, this concept would definitely not be part of the guard.

Looking to build a character for this as well.

Too bad Gnolls are not an option, would have loved the playing the small Ant Gnoll heritage as a sort of glorified sniffer dog.

-Skullsplitter (Ruzza): Orc Wizard of the Post Guard

As of Thursday

Orsen it is up to you wither youd like to submit the rogue or the Champion. Deadline is still a good while away. I am already working on sections.

Addendum:Have to add posting of Guard background in part for this.

I'm working on a Ratfolk with the Sleepless Suns Star background. Still deciding between Swashbuckler and Fighter for the little guy.

The idea would be that he's actually a foreigner himself, sort of. He arrived on a ship from Goka in Tian Xia when he was about a year old when his parents came to set up the Absalom branch of his clan's trading company.

Thanks for the patience. I like a balanced party so I’ll wait to see how the party shapes up, if you don’t mind. Like if you take the bare knuckle Rogue, I’ll play champion as I would imagine the rogue would be largely redundant have two Ruffian Rogues. Right now, the Champion might be the best fit as there are no tanks but the shield Fighter is in the mix as well as could fit that role. Does all of that make sense?

Grand Lodge

Sounds good to me. I expect more to show up as it goes on, so a rich group for selection.

Haha, interestingly enough, I am not going Ruffian Rogue, but Scoundrel Rogue instead. I am going to try to shore up the Charisma skill section, if possible, though it may take a little while for realization to hit its potential... This is my first PF2e character that I have made since the playtest, so it is taking me a little while...
