Variel's teeth aren't as good to bite ankles. No offense.
actually.....
Variel vs. Castor
Chomp off!
Variel bite +4 (unarmed attack, BAB+1 STR+3) Nonlethal damage 1d3+3, critical 20 2d3+6
Castor bite +4 (rat) damage one point non-lethal (1d3-4), critical no increased damage (2d3-8)
Variel is clearly the master ankle biter here.

Can you use arcane pool to enhance the bite attack? Can you use spell combat as well? All Castor has is stealth and maybe a squishy meat shield if Pollux takes one for him once.

This is just one rat's opinion but...
Arcane Pool and Spell combat refer to weapon attacks. And unarmed strike is considered a light weapon so it looks good for mister smiley, master arcane ankle biter.

Actually all we familiars have going for us is GM grace and (rather expensive, currently 1k gold/death) immortality. The stealth is helpful but without HIPS or a way to gain concealment it is very unreliable.
Both Thumbs and my divine self are within 1-2 crossbow territory which is why we passed on the saltworks.
I give the coming bar-brawl a 30% chance of killing either myself/Thumbs or forcing Tark to bend/fudge something to keep us alive.

Especially seeing how Thumbs likely just started the bar fight.
Someone put an illusion on the game board. As soon as the other player notices that Castor/Pollux is cheating violence will likely ensue.
What I should have done as soon as the illusion was noted was to forfeit the game and pay the rube an extra gold for their trouble.
...oops

Seems a bit weird to hire them on the spot, given that the group's pretty evenly split on Merelda (Castor and Beorn trust her; Litsy and Variel don't), and Sasha hasn't interacted with the party much, except for managing Pollux the Crazy Maniac.
Beorn and Pollux could probably persuade Litsy and Variel to help them find the people they're looking for to recruit them... Or they could mysteriously bump into each other again, as if drawn together by the strings of plot fate, and have to work together to solve a problem...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Oh Castor doesn't TRUST Points or not-Ron. Castor doesn't trust Tuesday or the persistence of objects or the Maxwell equations. Castor just thinks they will be amusing.

That's actually a good idea, although if it is a small dragonette we are facing, it might look at Castor as an easy meal...?

"Those two are total strangers, and that one was rude. Absolutely not."
"Yes, but the glow."
"What are you babbling about?"
"The glow man! The glow! The obvious aura indicating that these two are clearly protagonists and their inclusion may further the story!"
"I am clearly neither insane nor drunk to neither understand nor argue so let's just do what you want."

I’m good for it. There is only so much sexual tension I can muster in such circumstances. So the bard is…what? Oblivious to women? Challenge accepted!!!! =)

Oh man...all of you are too much to handle. I love this game and this group!
But yes, they have the glow so let them join in! Even if it is to watch Beorn squirm.

Maybe one day, Beorn will surprise us with his choice of partner... Like Donkey in Shrek
Romantic love is difficult to let go of I hear, but still Merelda is more than willing to wear down Beorn… ‘s defenses and show him the ‘error’ of his ways!
Let the show continue!

Beorn's character arc is going to be one big How I Met Your Mother episode, and we'll all be at each other's throats trying to guess who the 'mum' is.
My money is still on his story ending with him cheerfully telling his kids that this is how Dragon Disciples are born.
Who really has a thing for courtly, chaste love - Dragons. Princesses in tower? Dragons. Standing under a lady's balcony to serenade her in the moonlight - Dragons. It's a match made in heaven!

I thought I was supposed to SLAY the dragon. But it turned into something else entirely.

Well then…I think the question comes down to what kind of metaphor ‘slaying the dragon’ represents to Beorn!
