Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

I intend to raise my Wis or Cha the first chance I get. Whatever is best at the time.

Castor the rat |

Castor walks up to a desk and puts on a green accountants visor.
"Right, lets see what we are working with....
Beorn
Loyalty CON/CHA +2
Security STR/WIS +3
Secrecy DEX/INT +2
Merelda
Loyalty CON/CHA +1/+2 Nat leader
Security STR/WIS +2
Secrecy DEX/INT +3
Pollux
Loyalty CON/CHA +1
Security STR/WIS +2
Secrecy DEX/INT +4
Sasha
Loyalty CON/CHA +4
Security STR/WIS +2
Secrecy DEX/INT +1
Tiny
Loyalty CON/CHA +2/+3 Nat leader
Security STR/WIS +1
Secrecy DEX/INT +3
Variel
Loyalty CON/CHA +1/+2 Nat leader
Security STR/WIS +3
Secrecy DEX/INT +3
Demagogue: Loyalty
Partisan: Security
Recruiter: Level to supporters added, stacks.
Sentinel: +1 bonus to Security and Secrecy. Aid all Organization checks to resolve one event
Spymaster: Secrecy
Strategist: Bonus rebellion action at +2
Purely mechanical Recommendations:
Sasha as Demagogue. +4 Loyalty
Variel as Partisan. +3 Security
Merelda or Tiny as Recruiter
Beorn as Sentinel. No one else can manage +2/+3/+2 for aiding the event checks.
Pollux as Spymaster. +4 Secrecy
Tiny or Merelda as Strategist
For RP reasons I would swap Tiny and Pollux. We loose a point of secrecy but who would trust Thumbs to give orders? And Pollux off playing an incomprehensible game that strangely opens more scope for rebellion fits their idiom.
Plus this gives Merelda Recruiter which is both very much needed and very entertaining.

Thanks for compiling this Pollux. I know previously we looked at which role fit the characters more closely. There were a few that were interested in multiple positions however. I will let Litsy and Beorn chime in if they want to switch but I think they got either their first or second choice.
I am good switching to Sentinel as that was one of the top 2 options for myself originally. There is some perverse logic to having Merelda as the recruiter. Frankly Pollux in any of these roles is scary. Sasah as demagogue seems to fit well.
Also remember that if we want to we can have multiple recruiters at one time if we feel we really want to boost our supporters. Looks like we are maxed out at rank 5 though for the rebellion so may not need that at this time.

![]() |

Tis a shame that rats and mice don't mix yet...although with Pollux and Variel's int maybe they could research a way for it to happen. After all there are such things as owlbears.

![]() |

"Angry ham?" Castor raises an eyebrow at Beorn.
Good one B, Hordes of Angry Ham should really be the name of our secret society.
Indeed and the mayor is a fan of theater so we could introduce him to HAMlet if we need to ambush him.

Castor the rat |

.
I am good switching to Sentinel
I updated the chart following a close reading of Nat Leader. You are best as a Partisan. Beorn as you beat by 1 in the Sentinel position.
Nat leader really does a job on your stats. You are +2 from CHA managing your teams due to Nat Leader but +1 from CON for anyone else's team. Beorn is +2 in all cases. But then you have a +3 where he has a +2 in Secrecy so it is a bit of a wash....except that Secrecy is the least used Org stat in event checks which bushes it back to team Beorn.
Beorn as Sentinel by half a Vienna Sausage.

Isn't Sasha a bar tender? Could be she is scoping the bar out for ideas herself or prefers to have a drink at a place she doesn't work at.

Tiny Litsy |

Eleven posts since I went to bed?! Damn, you guys were on fire.
Pollux, I am still unsure as to whom you are referring to with the nickname "Thumbs". Yourself? Are you saying that it would be best to trust Pollux as a Spymaster, or the exact opposite?
I think Litsy would work well as Spymaster or Recruiter role-playing wise. Perhaps not so much as a Strategist- she's quite impulsive, and this office seems best fulfilled by someone cool-headed. (like a Calistrian, maybe... wink wink, nudge nudge)

Sorry Thumbs is Castor's name for Pollux. I used to use Monkey but referring to even a fictional person as a monkey has connotations that are a tad foul. So I swapped that for Thumbs.
So Thumbs=Pollux but only in the discussion thread as Castor will not be able to talk for several levels. Actually he will never be able to talk to Tiny directly. Sigh... Hmmmm must look into awakened or advanced familiars.
Pollux mechanically works as a spymaster but for RP reasons it is a bad fit. Agents have to trust their handler and that is not on the cards for Pollux. I think you are perfect for Spymaster. Pollux can take Strategist.

Castor the rat |

Still need a bit to think about how im getting Sasha into the bar. I take it we're done investigating the mysterious smooshing of Reed Shirt?
Added an Only Murders in the building / Earl Stanly Gardner tribute post with a question or two that Thumbs will likely not be able to answer. Apart from that and Borgan scouring the base I think the preliminary investigation in done and we can wait for toxicology and the autopsy report.

![]() |

I have not chimed in on Reed Shirt as it seemed just a Beorn and Pollux moment. When brought up to speed then Variel will look into it as well. However that will have to be tomorrow as I am heading to bed now.

Tiny Litsy |

So have Variel and Litsy react to/investigate the Shirt pressing and then off to the Docklands to gather the wayward children?
Yeah, I think the GM's posts made it clear that only Beorn and Pollux were present when the guy died. They could have shared the story with Variel and Litsy, though.
GM, can Litsy gather intel on what's happening in the docks? Already spent an action to gather information, not sure if I can do it again.

Castor the rat |

oops.
I was figuring down time was flexible so over the next day or three you would come by the lair and find out the ravens are bankrupt ie. lost our shirt.
Everyone could react to the fact that someone/thing appears to be discussing the career arc of Huey Lewis and the News in our home base without permission.
And then we would head off to the docks to see what was what. But that plan seems not to have survived contact with reality. On we go!

Castor the rat |

Once in the bar Pollux takes on all comers at the Nine Man's Morris / Checkers class of bar games. That 19 INT should earn a few coins. Depending where it falls on the Weird---Burn the Witch scale I will
move the pieces. A "Can you beat the rat!" vibe might spur some decent betting or GBH charges.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

I don't disagree!
But for Merelda, NOT in comparison to Callistrian temple-trained elven bards...
She has pretty high standards of course.
;-)

Castor the rat |

hmmmm... (search ...type...type .... snack... search) still no clear rules on identifying Hexes. this is troublesome.
identifying a spell DC 20/25 + spell level under the arcane skill info. But Hexes are specifically not spells...... Rule by exception strikes again!
Hey Tark! For the purposes of innocent victims identifying Thumbs as the source of their trouble and strife can we use the spell DCs above or do you have a better idea? I don't really care what system is used I just want this grey area cleared up so I can post decent odds for the party deadpool. C'mon boss I'm losing money here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
current deadpool: Who will die first?
Castor / Pollux hold the lead.
The traditional reluctance to directly target familiars balances Castor's meager 7hp. While Pollux's poor AC and low HP keep the stranger in the top spot.
Beorn in second place.
This spot is tightly contested with single digit differences in HP and AC separating second and third places. We are giving this slot to Opera due to their non-combat focused archetype and their forward style of play that can make them a target.
Merelda enters at third.
A new comer to the board. Her AC/HP and combat skills should Keep her safe. However her in-your-face style and forbidden religion make her, in the views of one judge, "most likely to choke on a crossbow bolt".
Tiny in fourth.
Controversially edged out of third by Merelda. Shelyn's easy partnership with Variel and high AC would normally keep her at long odds but again a combative style and and active backstory increase her threat exposure to make her a solid candidate for third or even second place in the pool.
Variel in fifth.
His combat prowess and magical might would seem to guarantee the master magus's safety but their partnership with Tiny and frequent defense of most-likely-to-die Pollux place this hero in increasing danger.
Sasha safe at six.
Another newcomer to the board they dislodge Variel from the safe zone. Sasha's high AC and defensive divine magic will make them a tough nut for the mayor to crack.
Odds are still fluid as the newcomers enter the field so get your bets ready and watch this space for updates!
I was going for the ‘its a Hex which means witch’ roll really. I figured any 20+ hit the basic description of a hex in her training as in an inquisitor. In the end it was really just for flavor…And Evil Eye is literally the most commonly selected witch Hex next the healing Hex.
Just wait until she tries to identify your species Pollux. My guess is she won’t get it on the first try!!
=)
…in the views of one judge, "most likely to choke on a crossbow bolt".
Gee…you say such nice things to all the ladies huh!?
=/I guess I can’t really complain if you put yourself at the top of the list.
Castor the rat |
Ah, yes, the two greatest weaknesses of any PC: a combative style and active backstory!
Hey you just have and emotionally relevant street gang who could shiv you when things go lemon flavored. I have an oversexed priest of the Unmaker and their boy-toy, an emotionally confused opera diva and the severed screaming head of a beautiful woman, all on my long and shining tail.
Seriously though. There is very little difference in combat capability in the not Pollux crowd. Those are well made characters.
=/I guess I can’t really complain if you put yourself at the top of the list.
All complaints must be submitted to the rules committee in the form of interpretive dance and/or cheese. Thank you.
Next!
I figure Castor's award winning personality is one of the many things keeping our beloved Rattus rattus number one with a bullet! Or at least a crossbow bolt. :7)
Tal is not a boy toy thank you very much. I believe Pollux was the one that enjoyed the whipping.
As for the deadpool rankings, Variel is easily the first one to die minus the random arrow or bolt. Everyone else either has a better survival instinct or isn't as willing to push the limits as the front liner. Pollux sits easily in second place until such time that he can charm or dominate others to do his bidding. Litsy and Merelda are a toss-up and it depends on which one stabs the other first at this rate. Beorn and Sasha can both heal themselves and stay in the back out of harms way.
Deadpool: Oh I agree with your estimations. They excellently reflect actual play. The initial pool is simply omething I call the crossbow standard. How many mook-fired crossbow bolts should it take to drop the target. Pollux with AC 10 and 14 hp is at crossbow 2.5. Variel is at crossbow 5.25 (hp/(5.5)(AC/10))
Yes if Beorn and Sasha pair up they will be a force to be reckoned with.Whipping: I can't speak to Thumbs but it made an excellent spectator sport.
![]() |
He was meant to die. Although the idea of rot grubs in the brain does sound extremely painful
![]() |
Not sure how Variel feels right now. She went to the rat to protect her honor rather than Variel. Hopefully he never finds out about this but knowing Pollux it will come out at the worst possible time.
Castor the rat |
If it helps Thumbs has no idea why Shelyn wants to torture the gent in question. Not do I think they really care. For Pollux shaking peoples faith in reality is pretty much a normal Tuesday.
Once (mis)fortune is in the mix I expect the lives of random folks in the Silver City to get randomly interesting. Not to mention the lives of the resistance members......
![]() |
Just wait till you get split hex as well to double the fun. Pollux will be driving people even more crazy faster.
Castor the rat |
Split Hex Fortune will do a great deal for Thumb's popularity.
Almost as much as Split Hex charm.
Mind you SH is a 10th level feat which means taking it at 11th or going all of 9th with an open feat slot.
Why to they have even numbered level prerequisites? PF is a mystery wrapped in undefined organ meat.
So if you wanted to dip 1 level of paladin you wouldn’t reach 10th level witch till then. Imagine a paladin hexing people. That will really confuse people.
