Strek, you're a genius. I tend to lean in favor of the writer, like the negatives that would offset the extra null-space. But... I think there were just a few starship building mistakes made here. I've watched some interviews with the author and kept up on the forums and haven't seen any semi-official responses to the disconnect. So let's go with Strek's change up! I'm not too worried about you guys being ahead on BP, since you were pretty wrecked by the EJ Human Resources department.

Strek Armstrom |

Awesome, then HERE is the final version, with the Pulse Green Power Core, if you want to add it to the Slides.

Guess? |

Out of curiosity, do we run into any life support issues by taking on 3 goblin passengers?

Strek Armstrom |

"Complement" just refers to the minimum and maximum number of crew members needed to operate that vessel.
I believe you can have as many non-essential crew as you can comfortably fit.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

That works essentially because you're not re-using site data from your main browser sessions. To fix it there too, see "Delete cookies from a site" here.

Guess? |

I looked around but wasn't able to find any other rules that could speed up drift travel. The only thing I saw were the two downtime actions, both of which would be rolled by Del... I'm not sure if assists are allowed with these:

I don't know what double checking the goblins work would count as but melissa is doing that. there is NO way goblin instalation is going o be a permanant thing on any ship she's on

With four goblins now on board, Melissa will have a lot of work to double check!

Only three of them have work to double check :)

Yah... I suppose Guess? doesn't do any real work... He just jabbers a lot!

Strek Armstrom |

Okay okay okay, I don't know why it just hit me. So, we do this deal, and we effectively get 20 Ship Build Points. Got it. Wow. So that could be why the ship numbers were off to begin with. No need for the authors to build a correct Tier 3 ship. It was probably "roughly Tier 3", but Tier 3 because we needed an actual Tier # for DCs.
EDIT: So the ship probably does "Level up" with us, because we need the DCs to increase (both for us, and for enemies to factor their DCs), but it doesn't automatically "Level up" with any corresponding Build Points?

Akh Xi |

Yeah, the BP system is quite different here. I wonder if our ship's tier will be bumped less if we fail to acquire enough BP to match the tier?

![]() |

Yeah, the ship doesn't level up automatically in this AP. But you have the opportunity to "earn" 150% of the normal number of BP's you would get from levelling up. So your ship should actually be a bit overpowered by future books. And you'll be able to spend BP's on other things that make the life of a free trader nicer.

Guess? |

A few things that Guess? would like:

Strek Armstrom |

So how do calculate Tier?
By thresholds of Build Points? Or APL?
If it's the former, it might not matter that our ship becomes overpowered, because we won't be able to operate it as well.

![]() |

@Guess?, I love that your wishlist just gets more ridiculous as it goes.
@Strek, That is a great question! My gut says BP, though you make a fantastic point that your spaceship could out-level you. Your opponents won't be that level, so it wouldn't be so bad. Let's stick with BP and watch as we get to the point where your ship is a tier higher than y'all are. It's also incentive to spend the BP on non-starship items and services I suppose.
Side note: Be sure to save up BP after each job to pay for the cargo on your next job. Being free traders, you often have to pay for the goods up front and hope your earn a profit. If you ever don't have the BP, you'll need to cannibalize your ship!

![]() |

we are NOT pumping opium laced air directly into the ship!!!!!!
If guesse gets that Melissa is so replacing it with helium.... :)

Guess? |

Haha! Well, the pheremone system and starship spines aren't SFS legal and, therefore, not currently legal for this campaign. But if they were, Guess? would totally want them!

About the helium - Guess? would totally be down for that as well!

finally happy they seem to be going someplace NOT HORRIBLE to do something NOT HORRIBLE for people who are NOT HORRIBLE.
What could go wrong?!
Haha! This bit made me literally LOL!!

hrmmmm.... Now I remember why feedback on this AP was that it could feel like spreadsheet roleplaying at times. Did we subtract the cost of the cargo when you picked it up? I don't think we did. That's alright, we can just disperse the delta profit. But I don't want to subtract the cost of goods twice! Does anyone remember us cutting 3000 credits and 2 BP from the group stash before? I don't think we did...

BigNorseWolf |

Guard donkeys are a thing thats what it makes it sound like we're picking up.
In mauritania, one of the locals wanted me to teach him english. Because apparently giving verbal commands to critters and having them listen either proved english was the tongue of asses or witchcraft. And I was WAY too heavy to throw in the river.

We cut the 2 BPs from the stash because those were from Rygan's mystery necrografts which we didn't enter into the loot sheet. Therefore our loot sheet should add those 2 BPs back.
But for the other cargo that cost credits, no, we didn't deduct that amount. So we should disperse only the delta profit.

You continue to show that you know of/experienced the strangest things... But in a (mostly) good way!

Some questions/summary about the costs associated with defrex herding:
Aside from the blood lure and licenses, assuming all items just need to be purchased once, can be shared between the party members, and we take just one day, I think the cost comes out to:
defrex mount = 500 per day
6x licenses = 900
6x blood lures = 300
sound file = probably free w/ computers check
flushing lizard = 100 per day
Total: 1800CR (or 300CR per party member)

![]() |

Yepp, that's right! Licenses and transport are per person, and blood lures are one-use. (So guess how many you want... Max 6, minimum 0.) You only need one sound file and flushing lizard for the whole party. So if you wanted to go all out, minus to premium transport Defrexes, 300 credits per person would be right.

Guess? |

Ah okay. The mount is per person. In that case, the costs come out to the following...
Each person
Total for characters using the defrex mount: 717CR
Total for characters using the enercycle mount: 287CR
Guess? will definitely go with the defrex because how many goblins has ever ridden one of these???

Strek Armstrom |

Enercycle for Strek.
Spreadsheet will be a "Soonᵀᴹ" type of thing.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

A bovine riding a giant savage badger just seems right. Horns over claws.

Del Reisora |

Del's definitely going for the enercycle mount.

Lol, we get paid and immediately have some very expensive options to improve our chances on the next job. I see what you did there Paizo writers! :)
So hard to pass up the chance to ride a defrex, even if its half the payday.

Less people are hurt riding defrexes than motercycles, therefore defrexes must be the safer option. Enercycles kill! She'll spring for the defrex.

![]() |

There are two interesting twists for choosing your mount.
1. Most characters are going to be wildly better at Survival or Piloting. You can assume at least some of the skill challenges are going to be determined by your mount choice. So even though the defrex has lower DC's, a natural Pilot might choose the enercycle anyway.
2. This is a skill challenge, and you don't know what the skills are going to be. You can probably guess a few of them, given the storyline you're on. Additionally, there will be six challenges and only one person can attempt each challenge, with one other person aiding them. And there aren't any restrictions on a character attempting more than one challenge. So... if you don't think your character will be attempting many challenges maybe you don't need to worry as much about the mount you're on.
It should be a fun encounter. Just the thought of level 3 characters riding Level 11 monsters while herding dozens more Level 11 monsters is a wild time.

![]() |

Melissa is a bowling ball as far as her skills go (and not just because she's 1/4 hedgehog) with a +7 piloting and +8 survival, so I'll take the defrex.
This also seems to be a good point to pick up wildwise (i assume you just take the lossange in the doctors office while the fungus grows into your brain to make sure you don't start sprouting gibberish) and one of those 200 credit herding tools. (its a really silky lasso?)

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

hmm... I have piloting survival and nothing to do with handling animals. Wondering if given your hints I need to rethink my choice :P

Del Reisora |

Yeah, Del's survival is a 0. She'd be atrocious at herding rabbits, let alone defrex, and will likely fall off her mount.
But she's gonna ride the heck out of that enercycle! Vroom, vroom!
@Ewok: I can't help you with a hedgehog, but tortoise-people are telia from Alien Archive 3. They've got an ancestral deity in Galactic Magic (Uvonn).

I've had my hand in a wolfs mouth, been headbutted by a horse, nommed on by a snapping turtle, and had a pitbull latch onto my arm.
Oddly enough my worst critter related injury is from a rabbit.
When I was about 10 my sisters fat rabbit escaped and was hopping around the yard. Not really hard to catch, scooped them up no problem....
and free from the confines of gravity those furry little paws could run at full rabbit speed. With untrimmed nails. It was like jamming your arm into a belt sander set to puree. I pretty much threw the bunny into the cage, wrapped my shirt around my arm and heded for the bathroom, less the skin between the inside of my elbow and wrist.
my sister was of course, freaked out by all the blood. On her rabbit.
I'll belly rub the wolf. the rabbit i'm staying away from. Monty python was onto something...

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

Jaraduk can afford it. I've already subtracted the credits for the "defrex" package that Guess? summarized.
And Melissa... oof! Necrografts needed at age 10?!

And with that diplo roll I'm pretty sure Jaraduk won't be saving those credits.
