I finished editing Harran, unsworn shaman ran into problems in execution as well so I ended up just altering the original submisison for the new guidelines.

I did however have some inspiration for a different character, so since a second submission is allowed, I'll work on her and hopefully have her up tonight!

I had initially revamped Ala'Ihys the Archer from a PFS paladin into an Inquisitor of Sarenrae. But I was struggling with a connection to The town of Diamond Lake. It just didn't seem like it was coming together. I wasn't certain that the "Ominous Patron" was appropriate, so I pulled him from the recruitment.

The idea:

The original Idea was for him to leave his family and travel to Everlight Oasis The Everlight Oasis (or Ourzid-Mah as the natives call it) is a holy site for followers of Sarenrae. To study with the Dervishes there. That is where he would have started having dreams about the Age of Worms. He would have left the Oasis to learn more. With that background I would have assumed the dreams were from Sarenrae, I didn’t know if that would work with the “Ominous Patron” so I didn’t develop it any further.

Lantern Lodge

Took me quite some time, but i figured out this character here.
Originaly wanted it to be a gnome, but the halfling kind of works better.
That's sadly a limitation by gamerules somehow.

It's a fun character and concept though and i'm looking forward to the opportunity to play this!

Nazard's entry here, Grigor Minescu, a human vanilla unchained monk. He is a non-magical battlefield controller, haunted by the repercussions of a childhood of crime, thievery, and blackmailing.


@Mia: Qiddi would probably know Mia (and possibly Jenny as well), as they're working for a competitor of Madame Mezziana. They actually learned Abyssal from a tiefling friend, precisely because of the tendency for tieflings working (voluntarily or not) in the sex trade. One of the few people in Diamnond Lake who appreciates and befriends tieflings.


Well, I guess the 'Other casters' category will have to do for Reknar - but I will point out the Sgt. is martially inclined ;)

@Jenny: Ah, I got ya. Seems like Jenny and Mia are about the same age then. Mia's around 18 when this all starts. I like the idea of two of them having some run-ins before the game starts. Maybe they first met shortly after Mia arrived in Diamond Lake and have encountered each other a few times over the course of the three years Mia's been in town. As part of her background, she takes care of about 6-10 orphans that have fallen under Madame Mezziana's guardianship. Perhaps seeing her acting like a big sister to them is what pointed Jenny to the path she wants to walk now. That's entirely up to you, though.

@Kittenmancer: (Love your username, by the way. Do you have a rival that's the Puppymancer? :P ) As got pointed out to me, Jenny doesn't work for anyone. She's an independent which probably explains the sharp edges. :D (Of course, that could have changed. That's up to Jenny, though.)

As for Mia, she's not a prostitute, more of a bouncer/bodyguard. I'm all for figuring out how much Qiddi and Mia know about each other. Mia's on the shy side of things, and hasn't made any friends since arriving in Diamond Lake, though Jenny and/or Qiddi could definitely turn that around. I'd say she seems adrift to anyone who pays attention to her. She is engaged with the children under her care, but is pretty much walled off from just about everyone else. She definitely doesn't act like most tieflings, I'd think.


This is Trevor86's second submission, perhaps last but hopefully not least!

Lyria is a Twillight Speaker, an agent of the reclusive Ilverani elves of the Spine of the World, whose task is to investigate rumors of potential cataclysmic events (such as the Age of Worms). She is a skald who fights with a reach weapon but could specialize into archery as well. Her other main areas of focus are party buffing and social skills.

Grumbaki here with another submission. Khardon Dourstone, cousin to Ragnolin Dourstone. Khardon was, unfortunately, trained in the Dwarven art of Grudge-Recording. He carries with him a Book of Grudges, of which every slight against him and his Clan is recorded. This has, unfortunately, made him very unpopular in the mines, as these wrongs have centered around the miners and their ill-dealings towards Ragnolin. As of late though, he dreams of leaving the small town. For the grudges there are small, petty, and and he is beginning to think, beneath his station.

Class: Dwarven Scholar Bard! Starts with Scarred Legion, which he can share with the party. He will eventually go Dragon Disciple, as that is a prestige class which I’m dying to try. Plus, the Dwarven Scholar archetype doesn’t scale well, but is a great chassis. (It’s also the only way I know of to have a wisdom based Dragon Disciple). But even with the prestige class, he’ll still be giving combat feats to the party and tossing around bard spells.


Okay, I could see Lyria and Mia getting along pretty well, especially after Mia comes out of her shell.


Just so long as everyone eventually agrees that kobolds are adorable and noble creatures deserving of mercy.


Careful, Kib might wind up being someone’s teddy bear. :P

...and just got the crunch all finished. Khardon is now a Stonesinger Dwarven Scholar Bard. This means that when facing enemies who cast spells, he can give the party Scarred Legion (+2 will saves). Otherwise, he will use Tremor, giving -1 AC for enemy).

Vakmu Marshborn

Description:

His weathered green-tinged skin is tanned with a bronze tint. He has visible tattoos, mostly arcane symbology (enough study and a high enough K(religion) or K(arcane) will reveal they are a large sacred tattoo) His black hair is going grey, perhaps prematurely (he is only 25, but ½ orcs are not long lived); he is not vain enough to dye it. He has hazel eyes, a single small tusk (lost the other one as a child), and an old scar on one cheek. For a ½ orcs, he is small-ish and slim, 6’ and 178 lbs. His gear is well cared for, but plain.

Demeanour:
He is quiet. A devout man, in his tribal terms, he looks to the spirits for guidance. He’s all about the comfortable life, but hasn’t got high standards ( due to his savage, swampy upbringing). Some alcohol (nearly any kind of booze, no gourmet he), his tobacco and a full belly; he counts himself lucky! He’s a functional alcoholic at this point. Still, he has the ability to concentrate on a project, especially those involving healing, scholarship or magic.

Background:

There’s more than lizard men in the mistmarsh; there are orcs too. Vakmu was born into one of the orc tribes, son of a captured slave woman. Physically, he was smaller and weaker than most of the tribe. Inevitably, he was bullied (where he got the nickname Mudeater), but he found a path for himself, becoming a shaman’s apprentice.

Life in the swamp though, it was too hard for his tastes. He doesn’t like being damp. He doesn’t like insects eating him. He likes proper roof over his head, and a bed. Sometimes adventurous traders would come to the tribes, with tobacco and civilized alcohol (better than the crude moonshine of the orcs), both of which he greatly enjoyed. His hedonism that led him to run away to the city…

Now he gets by as healer and a herbalist in town, treating miner’s injuries, whether from on the job, or “recreation” afterwards. He drinks too much, and lives poorly by civilized standards, yet it’s so much better than living in the swamp… He’s even found some companionship, making friends with an abandoned dog (Garm)…

Class Abilities:

Spells: A shaman casts divine spells drawn from the shaman spell list. A shaman must choose and prepare her spells in advance.
To prepare or cast a spell, a shaman must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10 + the spell’s level. The saving throw DC against a shaman’s spell is 10 + the spell’s level + the shaman’s Wisdom modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a shaman can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table 1–9. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Wisdom score (see Table 1–3 in the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook).
Shamans commune with their spirit animals to prepare their spells. Each shaman must choose a time when she must spend 1 hour each day in quiet contemplation with her spirit animal to regain her daily allotment of spells. A shaman can prepare and cast any spell on the shaman spell list, provided that she can cast spells of that level, but she must choose which spells to prepare during her daily communion.

Orisons: Shamans can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, each day as noted on Table 1–9. These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.

Minor Spirit (Su): At 1st level, the unsworn shaman also forms a temporary bond with a minor spirit each day, granting her access to a shaman or witch hex of her choosing, but not a major hex or a grand hex. She must make this selection each day when she prepares her spells for the day. Until she changes the minor spirit, she continues to have access to the shaman or witch hex. At 2nd level, she can instead select a hex from one of her wandering spirits selected for that day. If she selects a witch hex, she treats her shaman level as her witch level, and uses her Wisdom in place of her Intelligence for the purpose of that hex.
She can make temporary bonds with two minor spirits (thus gaining two hexes) at 4th level, and with one additional minor spirit (and hex) every 4 levels thereafter. This ability replaces spirit and alters hex.

Spirit Animal (Ex): At 1st level, a shaman forms a close bond with a spirit animal tied to her chosen spirit. This animal is her conduit to the spirit world, guiding her along the path to enlightenment. The animal also aids a shaman by granting her a special ability. See the Spirit Animal section on page 47.

A shaman must commune with her spirit animal each day to prepare her spells. While the spirit animal does not store the spells like a witch’s familiar does, the spirit animal serves as her conduit to divine power. If a shaman’s spirit animal is slain, she cannot prepare new spells or use her spirit magic class feature until the spirit animal is replaced.

Race Abilities:

Medium: Half-orcs are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Half-orcs have a base speed of 30 feet.
Dragon Sight: Half-orcs with this trait gain some of the keen senses of dragonkind. They have darkvision with a range of 120 feet. This replaces darkvision and intimidating.
Orc Blood: Half-orcs count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race.
Sacred Tattoo: Many half-orcs decorate themselves with tattoos, piercings, and ritual scarification, which they consider sacred markings. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws. This racial trait replaces orc ferocity.
Fey Thoughts: The character sees the world more like a native of the First World. Select two of the following skills: Acrobatics, Bluff, Climb, Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Fly, Knowledge (nature), Perception, Perform, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Swim, or Use Magic Device. The selected skills are always class skills for the character. A half-orc can take this trait in place of racial weapon familiarity.
Languages: Half-orcs begin play speaking Common and Orc. Half-orcs with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following languages: Abyssal, Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, and Goblin.

Vakmu’s spirit animal is as yet undeveloped

Special Abilities
Alertness (Ex): While a familiar is within arm's reach, the master gains the Alertness feat.
Improved Evasion (Ex): When subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, a familiar takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and half damage even if the saving throw fails.
Share Spells: The wizard may cast a spell with a target of “You” on his familiar (as a touch spell) instead of on himself. A wizard may cast spells on his familiar even if the spells do not normally affect creatures of the familiar's type (magical beast). Empathic Link (Su): The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.

A quick note, I have assumed I can craft my own equipment for 1 item - his guard dog (he has handle animal and the shaman spell list to help...).

Technically, unchained monks are full BAB.


It's a testament to his attention to detail that he put Valdear as being non-full-BaB. The build quickly dips into sorcerer and then dragon disciple.

Well, it can be one :) Lore spirit, heavy focus on int/wis/cha. Probably a pretty good build at you'd have hexes, divine magic and your choice of up to X spells from the wizard or sorceror.
