"Maybe step by step," Biltri grunts in Dwarven between swings of his flaming chain hammer. His eyes brighten to the color of an orange flame as he turns his attention fully to the giant in front of him. "Hurry and finish the dog!"

He slams the steel fist toward the troll again and again. "She'll not be repentant. Make sure she keeps burning!"

Lucius Flat: 1d20 ⇒ 2

The cold iron blade of Devil's Lantern slides easily into the jackal's neck; hot blood sprays across the altar. As the jackal slides to his knees, and all three eyes blaze up at Lucius with absolute hatred.

Mother… of… Beasts…!

The light goes of Mwibah's two natural eyes. The third one tracks Lucius for several moments before going quiet, too. This will be a story for Blue Finley, indeed.

The troll screams as she watches her leader die. You've taken EVERYTHING from me… again! And AGAIN! And AGAIN! Even if you kill us, the seeds of destruction have been planted in your so-called civilizations!

Insane with grief and rage, she barely registers Biltri's devastating attacks. Crit, hit; good work Bless. That's the Barbarian damage we come to know and love.

Biltri knows trolls regenerate quickly, and fire or acid keeps it shut down. As he told you in character

The troll flails. You kill her quickly.

You kill her quickly after. She has < 20 HP left and I'm seeing increasing lag in posting time and engagement, so I am going to call the combat as there's nothing at stake.

You remove the shield Bomela was wearing — it is indeed the Sun Wheel! This will be a keepsake on your chronicle!

Sun Wheel:

Price 150 gp Usage worn; Bulk —

Created by the priests of a Qadiran sect of Sarenites, the sun wheels were designed to protect the Dawnflower’s followers in their quest to hunt down a dangerous cult trying to raise a spawn of the evil god Rovagug. Once they completed their crusade, these priests disbanded and went on to minister other congregations. They each took their sun wheels with them, handing them down to the next generations.

This copper medallion is etched with a stylized sun, its rays shaped like the spokes of a wagon wheel. It tends to glint brightly when exposed to sunlight. While wearing this pendant, you gain a +1 item bonus to Religion checks. You must be good-aligned to use the sun wheel’s true power: the following activation, which provides you a shield of burning force.

Activate [one-action] (concentrate) Effect The sun wheel casts a shield spell benefiting you (Hero’s Handbook 22). When you use the spell to prevent damage, you prevent 10 damage instead of 5. If the attacker is adjacent to you, you can choose to deal 2d6 fire damage to it, which it gets a DC 21 basic Reflex save to resist. If you choose to deal the fire damage, you can’t Activate the sun wheel again until the next morning.

If you prevent damage but don’t deal the fire damage, you can use it again in 10 minutes, as normal for shield.

Behind the screens are bloody rags with Sarenite coloring. They are sized for a human, a halfling, and a dwarf. This is all that remains of Thida Aubade, Billard Truewood, and Vuzi Nerren; it seems Mwibah enjoyed sleeping among these bloody rags, perhaps comforted when surrounded by the artifacts of suffering.

There are a cou0ple potions stashed in the altar (healing and mending).

--

When Baux, Lucius, Nandipha, and Biltri touch the shield they feel a pleasant warmth like that of a midday sun.

When Dethor touches it he feels anything.

As the shield warms to the touch, the room fills with an agreeable smoky scent, as if someone threw a block of sandalwood onto the braziers near the dais.

Shall we head back?

In the next chamber, Bomela's room, you see a boar hiding in the corner. He afraid from all the sounds of combat, but well cared for: there is a bowl of clean water for him and good food. When he sees Bomela's body he nudges it sadly and snuffles, clearly agitated. He lays down next to her.

In here is a journal is written in Jotun, but Lucius can help translate the important bits.

Updated the map!

Journal:
Dwarven mercenaries killed Bomela’s parents in the forest of eastern Andoran when she was young. The dwarves may have been the Leadbusters, in fact!

The dwarves spared her, but they left her to fend for herself in the wilderness. The young troll survived only through the grace of a druid who heard her cries. He named her, taught her how to speak Common, and showed her how to live off the land. As she grew, he knew they must avoid the local towns and logging camps for fear of how others would treat her. However, he refused to explain to Bomela the reasons why they had to stay as hermits.

Bomela learned her ancestry was feared by others only after the druid passed away. One day not long ago, she heard the sounds of struggle in a nearby clearing and identified the noises as an animal in distress. She rushed toward the disturbance to find a pair of hunters tormenting a mother boar protecting her young. Bomela roared at them to stop, startling the hunters; they then cried out, “Troll!” and set upon Bomela. She had to kill the hunters to defend herself, but the fear in their eyes made her realize that she was different, awakening a hatred within her heart. The mother boar perished from her wounds, but Bomela raised the babies, and one of them has stayed loyal to her to this day.

Bomela was bitter at her adopted druid parent for not telling her about the world, or properly preparing her. She felt his sheltering of her from the world ultimately did her a disservice.

She found Mwibah in her wandering. The journal reveals a series of acts performed for the jackal, ones that at first seem innocent but became more and more vile… until her heart and soul became totally corrupt and given over to Lamashtu.

"Poor souls." Nandipha shakes her head sadly, and it is uncertain whether she is referring to the Sarenrites, the boar, or the misguided troll. "Let us take them home."
