Dungeon Master S - 2e |
At Frightened 3, the second attack is actually a miss, BUT...
Peldur's combo of attacks goes right to the center swirl of the wisp! Suddenly its light goes out, this time for good.
For you victory, you earn 120 XP and Elena gets the Hero Point for the right tool for the job.
Talborel |
Tal claps Elena and Peldur each on the shoulder, he smiles. It is a gentle, approving smile and there is pride in his eyes. He leaves it at that and says no more to the pair.
Is there any sort of spiritual remain? Vestiges of memory or ectoplasm? Tal will make a careful search of the room.
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The only vestige is the unspent poison which gently mists (harmlessly) to the floor.
Tal looks around the room. This room was once a comfortable sitting
room with two chairs and a low end table between
them. Suddenly a vision strikes the elf!
The vision dissolves, and no one can get it to return...
Talborel |
Tal all of a sudden rocks to the side as if hit by an unseen force! His eyes go wide and he turns and watches, carefully, nothing! A few moments pass and Tal makes a circuit of the room, his attention focused on something else, something none of you can sense. Then, just as sudden, he blinks several times and slouches, covering his eyes with his palms. Talborel takes a deep breath and steadies himself.
"A vision! I saw Belcorra... Meeting with a Drow Elf I did not recognize."
Carrufikus |
”I hope you didn’t recognize the drow. They usually live deep underground and hate anything to do with the light and kindness. I can’t imagine that they are planning anything good. What were the two of them doing in this vision?”
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler |
How strange. You're OK, right Papa?
Bibi will continue the thorough room search while Tal recovers.
Talborel |
”I hope you didn’t recognize the drow. They usually live deep underground and hate anything to do with the light and kindness. I can’t imagine that they are planning anything good. What were the two of them doing in this vision?”
"There are many paths to The Brightness, Carrufikus. Perhaps even a path back for those who have strayed. Though anyone conferring with Belcorra was likely... Up to something. I don't know what they were doing. Belcorra was speaking about something, and quite visibly excited. The Drow Elf appeared to be listening close."
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The party finds nothing else of note in the room...
Elena Solheim |
"That must be Volluk Azrinae. That name is connected with Belcorra."
Elena considers this. "Perhaps the shade of Otari knows about Volluk?"
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler |
Good thought, 'Lena. Let's turn this place down, then go have another chat!
Carrufikus |
"Checking with the shade would certainly be good. I am just thinking that Desna is giving us a message if she is sharing insightful dreams with us. There must be something important that we need to know around this drow."
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Bibi sees no reason not to open the door, so she does! Originally a lounge with two plush divans. this room flashes an image for everyone to see. It's of Belcorra relaxing while reading a large tome.... Perception check to catch the title before the vision fades.
Noroc Zverokruh |
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Noroc Zverokruh |
Belcorra wasn't exactly the best person on Golarion, Noroc says in understatement.
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler |
Bibi gives Noroc an acquiescent shrug and nod, and takes a quick search of the lounge area.
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Shall we have a quick chat with Otari?
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Bibi finds nothing in the room. There is another door as the suite continues to wend clockwise.
Door or Otari?
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
A well-set table reveals this to have once been a private dining room. Everyone is again struck by a momentary vision. In the image, she sits alone at the table, drinking a glass of wine and enjoying an elegantly plated roast arm that looks disturbingly human.
There seems to be nothing else of note here, except for yet another door in the spiral.
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Belcorra’s bedroom features a large bed along the west wall. The stone archway to the north shimmers as a portal opens and Belcorra steps through with a cruel smile on her lips and blood on her hands. She vanishes...
Carrufikus |
"If we are in Belcorra's bedroom, we must be very close to her, especially if she is sending her ghostly image to spy on us. Stay vigilant and let's be prepared to face this villainous foe!"
Elena Solheim |
Elena looks uncomfortable at all of the visions of Belcorra. "Prepared for battle, I am that. But search this place, my friends. Every ounce of Belcorra's power and knowledge that we can use against her, should we truly face her, we will need."
She then takes the time to study the portal, suspecting that she might need to attempt to awaken it...
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The walls of this octagonal chamber are sheathed in a foul‑looking moist webbing made of stringy, semi‑transparent slime. The bodies of three creatures have been mounted on the walls in this webbing, as if on display: a lavender-skinned elf, the legless body of a spider-like humanoid, and a hideous humanoid with transparent flesh.
Carrufikus is quick to point out that there's a fair bit of magic in this room.
Peldur Perrindeldarion |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Belcorra, I love what you've done with the place. Pre-modernist Macabre! Retro is so in these days.
Peldur pulls out a torch and lights it. He swings it through the webbing to see if fire is effective against it.
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The fire works quickly. Once freed, the bodies swiftly begin to decay, no longer held in stasis by the effects of the webs. A trio of item clatter to the floor, finally free of their fate:
They're all magical.
Carrufikus |
Carrufikus examines the prayer beads and tries to figure out their purpose, nefarious or not.
Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Elena Solheim |
Elena is drawn to the magic and starts by examining the bottle.
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Carrufikus can't figure out the beads, but Elena is sure it's a potion of firebreathing
Elena Solheim |
"If you ever want to breathe fire on an enemy, this is what you should drink. It could prove useful going forward."
Carrufikus |
Carrufikus hands the beads to Elena and remarks, "I cannot figure out what these do. I mean they look like beads of praying, but the magical properties elude me. Could you take a look at these and tell me what you make of them?"
Elena Solheim |
Elena hands the potion of fire breathing to Carrufikus, taking the beads from him. "Sure. I'll just need a few minutes of study."
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Elena confirms that they're holy prayer beads
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
Sharp of aim and potent in destruction, +1 Striking Longbow
Elena Solheim |
Elena hands the beads to Carrufikus. She then considers what the group should do next. "In the hallway that we took to this area there is an empty alcove. It stands out in that it should not be empty, as the others around it are not. Can we maybe search it in case there is a secret passage?"
Marked the area I'm talking about on the map.
"But before we do, let's study the remains. Maybe one of them is familiar?"
Would like to study the bodies before moving on
Dungeon Master S - 2e |
The bodies turned to dust within the minute they were freed...
