Background:
Beatrice Beerswizzler, known to her friends as Bibi, hails from the small town of Hillwatch, along the northern border of Taldor near the Verduran Forest. The Beerswizzler clan of halflings is not large, but has some small degree of local fame due to the inventive beer brewing that earned the clan its distinctive name. The Beerswizzler name gained more fame when Bofus (brother to Barty, Bibi’s father) won the Gauntlet of Traps event in the annual Elsir Vale Tournament of Heroes in 4710. He and his group of friends then went on to defeat an invading army, known as the Red Hand of Doom, preventing the force from destroying the Vale and bringing forth the legendary Tiamat!

Bibi learned the family trade, as all Beerswizzlers do, and she acquired a taste for the product at quite a young age. She learned more, though, from her Uncle Bofus, who regaled his favorite niece with tales of his exploits in the Tournament and against the Red Hand to his rapt audience. Some of his tales she did not believe, so he had to show her how he did some of these things, thus laying the very strong foundation of Bibi’s learning the trade of thievery & skullduggery. Of course, Bofus felt obligated to also teach her the basics of using his weapon of choice: the rapier. She also did her best to pick up her uncle’s panache and easygoing, friendly manner. This helped her become a sometime emissary for the family business. She jumped at every chance to travel out of Hillwatch. She took those opportunities to practice the skills Uncle Bofus taught her, while seeing new places and setting up deals with bars and such to stock Beerswizzler beer.

One such jaunt brought her to the “far-off land” of Otari (to the Beerswizzlers, anywhere that required more than a few day’s rations, or getting on a boat, is a “far-off land”). She quickly found the Crow’s Cask and introduced herself, and Beerswizzler brew, to the proprietor, Magiloy. Bibi hoped to impress her into making, if not a long-term deal, then at least an occasional purchase of the suds. Upon hearing some of the lore of Otari, though, Bibi returned as often as she could, and stayed as long as possible—sometimes weeks at a time! She became friendly with Wrin Sivinxi, with her exotic looks, remarkable wares, and detailed stories of the Gauntlight.

Bibi began a habit of practicing her craft in the ruins around the Gauntlight, sharpening her skills for when she knew—she just KNEW!!—she’d find some trustworthy folk to explore them with her. (Uncle Bofus used to say “Sure, you can hide and sneak and maybe stick your blade into a beastie’s sensitive spot, but there’s just no substitute for a nice big daichini to hide behind!”). She also heard about the Roseguard, the adventuring troupe who founded Otari after defeating Belcorra Haruvex, and she devoured every story she could about them. (“They named the TOWN after the THIEF!!! Can you imAgine?!?!”)

Armed with her charm, her knowledge, her skills, and her rapier, Bibi Beerswizzler is ready to explore Gauntlight and expose its secrets. She's just waiting for the right help…
