Ok, just to confirm, the plan (per my understanding) is to speak to Rickan about the possibility of you guys spending coin for services? (At the moment, you're at 3 of 5 non-away players, which I think would trigger the majority rule).
If I'm off-base in my understanding, or someone's got an idea to go in a different direction, let me know -- otherwise I'll have Norfin lead you to your rooms post-breakfast in the next 10-12 hours.

Yep. And Fiona's leaving a silver on the table now.

FYI, going on a short camping trip tomorrow, back Saturday or Sunday. Probably won't be posting during the trip.

Tilnar |

I would hope not, camping and all.
If my own experience is any indication, Rags, the Dresden book shouldn't be an issue for more than a day or so (though the after-effects of sleep deprivation may stay a little longer...)

Sorry, all... I've got an audit coming up at work next week, so I'm really busy trying to prepare for that. Posting likely to be reduced for the next week.

Was just looking at the wiki for a minute and was wondering if anyone wanted to put a "logo" icon for us to put in the corner, instead of that default ugly thing? Especially since some of you seem to be considerably more artistically talented.

Ok, folks, so in the (unfortunately) more serious vein - it would seem that Braniac's feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment and will be withdrawing from our group (at least for a few months).
Personally, I don't love the idea of dragging around a Sorceress-bot or running a GMPC, so I suspect that means we'll need to have something happen to neutralize Lani in a non-permanent fashion (I can't resort to the time-old 'Reality Shift' to have her retconned out of existence as it doesn't easily allow for a later re-entry, and plus, I believe she's the only one who was able to read the Aklo...)
Anyhow, that's an in-story GM headache....
....but beyond the logistics of that, Braniac's departure leaves a hole in the party -- both in losing a quality player and a source of arcane support (blasting) -- which then brings us to the question of what do we do about that?
I'd say, simply put, the options are:
(a) Go on without Lani and hope for the best;
(b) Recruit someone who wants to play a character in a somewhat similar role that could be written in;
Of course, we could try (a) and see how it goes while reserving the right to do (b) later - but, having said that, I just want to gently remind folks that it's generally much harder to bring in a new party member after the combat where you needed one (often, in such cases, there's more than one character to replace), and that it's considerably easier to have an appropriate PC-type arrive while you're mostly working out of a town (even a wee little hamlet like Rustknoll) than it is to do when you're elbow-deep in dungeon.
So -- thoughts?

Hey, guys! I do want to try to rejoin the game in a few months when I have more free time. In the meantime, I can offer to be a silent tagalong until combats occur, at which point I will be more active in posting. I'm just a bit overwhelmed trying to keep up with the quantity and quality of all of your posts right now!

Tilnar |

For the sake of moving things on, I'll have us move to a post-lunch sort of place late tonight unless anyone objects.
(So get your additional questions/discussions in soon before Hamish heads back to the kids... )

Having a part-time Lani sounds better than no Lani at all! Glad to hear it.
...aaaaand now my brain is smashing that into Part-Time Lover by Stevie Wonder. So that'll be in there for a few hours. Thanks.

Day one of the audit completed, but unfortunately I don't have the mental energy to post tonight. Soon!

Ragadolf |

LOL, PArt-time Lani! Ther'es a song in there somewhere too! ;P
I understand Brainiac, I confess I'm feeling WAY overwhelmed recently,
Between trying to keep up with the FUN stuff that I WANT to do, (PbP, couple of video games and videos, not to mention my family) and the stuff I HAVE to do, (This working from home STINKS! They literally expect you to answer your email at ANY TIME day or night! And then get cranky if it takes you more than 2 minutes to respond. With a complete answer. To a question that will take at least a couple of hours to find out. Not. Happening.) ;P
ANYway, very busy, hard to keep up, I get it! You do what You gotta, Come back when you can! :)

No problem. I'll make sure that any Eldritch Horror Merlan releases saves Fiona for dessert.

DSX: I have a healer's kit with some remaining "charges" (I don't think disease uses any).
I can toss guidance on us.
I have Heal at +8 and you're at +4, but it never fails that the person with the highest modifier rolls lowest. :)
So we have a +2 from healer's kit, +1 from guidance... the big decision is, who aids vs checks?
Either of us could prepare detect disease tomorrow, too, so we're not toast if we roll low.

Actually yes, For a (VERY) brief moment or two.
I have wormed my way into being the live introducer of the Halloween Concerts for the past several years. I appear in costume, usually but not always themed with the popular music from the concert that year, and BS my way through a sometimes-entertaining intro and interactions with the audience.
SO, I been a Jedi, Astronaut, couple of different wizards, (BIG surprise there!) :P A couple of years ago I dressed as Gru, and my workers all dressed as Minions. It was great. :)
The orchestra all wear costumes, and when we have an audience we encourage all the kids to come dressed in costume, and they do! :)
Lemme see here,...

I have news for all: Audit Week has ended and I yet live.
Should be recovered and back to posting in the next few days. Thanks for your patience!

I could have picked you out of a crowd.
That setup was so strange, with the players spread out into the seating and no audience. I was afraid that some of the woodwinds would get lost, but even that little mid-low register flute part at the beginning of Danse Macabre came through. The balance was incredible considering the lack of audience to soak up bright tones and how spread out the players were. And it's tough to play by watching instead of listening kudos to them.
Some costumes were cute, too. Loved the butterfly violinist and the clarinet broomstick :)

LOL, Yeah, for a short guy I DO tend to stand out. :P
Um, not on purpose, of course. ;)And costumes were TAME compared to the usual craziness we get. :) (ALthough the percussion DID have a nice set of costumes. Did you notice the Professor and the PowerPuff Girls?) ;)
Yeah that is all part of the large-ensemble Covid style work-arounds.
No Audience. All spread out, using ALL the space, stage and audience seats. Masks, bell covers, and few other things that the CDC and State DIDN'T come up with. All the Universities are all contacting others, and some are working with hospitals & scientists, and gathering all the research, and coming up with odd, unusual or just plain annoying things that actually work. (No Class/Rehearsal related Covid cases since we came to school. Some ID10T -error FRAT cases and such,...) ;P
LAST week we had the Wind Ensemble do an outdoor concert across the street at the Alumni Center, outside. With audience, with masks, etc etc. It went well. (Recorded no livestream) SO we are getting back to business.
SLOWLY, but surely,... :)
