I have no talent but some hard-won (and expensive) basic skills. Hoping those techniques carry over from plants to people and furry beasts. :/ Might as well try it, since the pandemic has tanked my last year of classes and will push back my portfolio year. Grrr.
And Rags, everyone stinks at drawing hands.

Just a note - I didn't provide values for the stones and jewelry and trade goods here - because I'm rather assuming that you basically stripped everything that looked valuable, then used DM to figure out what was extra-snazzy, passing it around if needed if there was a failed identify.
Technically, since I don't think any of you have profession hunter or tanner, without appraise you wouldn't know the value of the hides -- survival will let you skin something, even doing it well, and knowing that they have value, yes, but not the quality and market for resale.
Also, because none of you have appraise, I have at the moment assumed that your actions with regards to the loot have been limited to stripping, detecting, testing weapons, and inventorying stuff to be dealt with later.
In no small part because I also assume your attention is mostly on the blocked burrow. If, on the other hand, someone is planning to try to appraise, or study items to try to figure out their origin/manufacture/etc while still "out on the field", as it were -- please let me know so we can make the appropriate rolls and adjust the passage of time accordingly (either delaying everyone or kicking certain people out of the current discussions).

Hrm,... When conjuring creatures with a template, like Celestial/Fiendish, does speaking THAT language allow you to communicate with them?
Not as difficult at higher levels, when the creatures are more intelligent than a dog or whatever. ;P
Just wondered, Cuz I've always presumed that even if you couldn't communicate difficult instructions, you could give them simple orders, 'Attack', 'Guard', 'Stay', 'Pick up rock',...
;)

Tilnar |

It's one of the few losses in PF - the template in 3.x granted the language, so you could learn Celestial and given them orders.
Now, either they auto-attack or you'd need Handle Animal to push them - (or speak with animals) -- otherwise you'd need something like the small elemental from Summon II (and the ability to speak an elemental tongue)

Lani Bralani |

Unless Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft will help identify the liquid, there's not much Lani can contribute. She has very few skills, alas!

Tilnar |

It occurs to me you meant to ask about Kelish, and not Kellid (which isn't a language, but a people who actually speak Hallit). Anyhow, there is a written Kelish tongue (but not Hallit, which is where I went).

I'd actually think staging the combat would be less disguise and more a mix of survival and bluff -- so my suggestion would be that Xia rolls Bluff (bumping her to 18 from the higher modifier), and can be aided by anyone with Survival.
(There could be circumstance bonuses/penalties, of course, if you tried to leave behind evidence, etc.)

I will be on vacation from Saturday 10/10 until Monday 10/19. During this time, I won't have much chance to post. GM, please bot me if necessary.

Sahar value study. So. Slow.
It would literally take me decades to do anything close to that, and even that's only true if I can assume that I'd eventually luck into something useful à la million monkeys on keyboards.
(Seriously, well done)

Sadly, that's preliminary work. Haven't even touched the final piece of paper yet. Art is grueling!
I've never really drawn skin or fabric, so am getting the hang of it. Skin is like flower petals and fabric, oddly enough, is like bone.
(EDIT: And thank you.)

Treppa |

Shocking! putting me to shame with your drawing skills :P
Did you use a picture to base it off? Or just sort of imagination?
Pictures, totally. I have no imagination. And we were trained to draw from life first, then pictures. That's 3 years of skill points!
I should try to draw what I had nightmares about last night. >_>

Tilnar |

Not that I can draw... At all.... I mean, other than flowers and bunnies to impress a 3-year-old.... But..
I've always said that the inability to upload or link to a custom avatar is my biggest complaint about the fora here (well, other than stability after the "big" outage last year and the more recent flaky gateway things) Maybe it's my own failing, but no matter how many times I read a character's description, I still mentally picture them as whatever 'close enough' thing they grabbed from the list.
Which can also kick immersion in the teeth when you're in multiple parties with the 'same' person or persons, but they're not themselves. ;)

Good luck, Rags. Monday is a holiday for some US folks anyway, so maybe you'll be back online by Tuesday.
Investigations!
I tried to summarize what we've found and speculated about and learned and wondered here in an Investigations section of the Wiki. We have a ton of data picked up piecemeal. Hope this helps organize it and show gaps we need to fill.

And 100% of us Canadians, though I suppose I have to use a "royal we" to get the plural.

I thought some of that stuff might end up in the rumours and stories section of the wiki -- but whatever makes the most sense for you guys - it's your space, after all.
Still, seems there are quite a few possibilities.... and you still even haven't had breakfast. ;)

Fiona nel Mare |

Sorry all — roadtrip yesterday, and slept most of the day today trying to fight off somethin'.
Should be back to mostly-normal posting tomorrow.

Tilnar |

Unless there's a major objection, I'll have Merlan's stomach drag you to the tavern for your breakfast in a late post tonight -- I'll allow a bit of last-minute "I do this before before we go eat" retconning - or we can just have those actions happen on a full stomach.

Tilnar |

Hard to respond to all of that when posted at once, since there's something of an implication that everyone is just sitting there staring at them while they're berating us... I'm going to assume it was all one big tirade with literally no chance of interjecting anything.
Very true - and it's a little tricky, I'm trying to strike a good balance of setting the scene and having things happen without spending a week on breakfast, as it were.
That said, since Taran's generally just hostile grumpy and really didn't get into a "tirade" until the last bit, I didn't think the rest of the scene was too concerning in terms of there being something to respond to, other than a dirty table (though I guess some of you may understand Dwarf, which might change that person's reaction a bit...)
If someone really wants to stop Taran after her little complaint before going through the door, I'm certainly willing to make a small change to the end of that, though she'll probably just let you deal with Norfin.... Who, really, you could speak to at any time. I mean, he's only a dozen feet away, though he is out of sight.

Tilnar |

I'm just glad we're rolling again. It was a long pandemic weekend spent (mostly) killing a deathclaw with a pistol.
Hopefully only baby deathclaws - big ones can even tear through power armour.

Fiona nel Mare |

No changes needed — and apologies if that came across as a complaint; that wasn't my intent. More intended as constructive feedback and an explanation of why it might take me longer to post a reply than usual. No hard feelings meant (or hopefully earned?). :)

Tilnar |

Wasn't taken as a complaint - was just trying to explain my mentality/reasoning in doing that. Certainly no hard feelings in any way. I mean, I'm an evil, nasty GM, sure, but not a fragile or petty one. ;)
(To be fair, some of my concerns about moving things forward may also have been somewhat triggered by the "long pandemic weekend" vibe, as Treppa said.)
Obviously, it's all a work in progress, and I'm sure we'll all get used to preferences (and I'll probably settle down a wee bit about beating the "go" drum -- though, at the same time, 17 levels over PbP is a long-term investment - even as I streamline out a bunch of it).

Tilnar |

I'll give people some time to talk amongst themselves and/or plot and/or consume the food that is suddenly much less sketchy before moving towards the after-breakfast and arrival in your rooms.

Nope. The legendary one in Concord. Fusion core was out, minigun was out, grenades out, laser out, shotgun out. Me, leather armor, pistol, much running. And the guy on the balcony yelling advice.
"Come back later when you've leveled up" the game says. Pssshh.

Yeah, I don't love the way that it starts - between the giving you power armour and that -- although if I recall, there were at least a few other people shooting at it.
I admit that I explored the area around before going to Concord, so I may have been a little higher level - but I was certainly throwing explosives and hoping for the best at the end of that particular battle.

LOL<
yeah Merlan being,... well, ME, there was a lot there to 'work' with, but I figured even those of us who understand Dwarf would probably just let it go... then talk about them amongst ourselves. :P
FYI- Sorry I vanished for a day. Went to Dr yesterday because after 2 weeks ear was bugging me to no end. Yep. Ear infection.
>_<
(SeriouslY?!?! I mean I survive 6-7 months without catching COVID, but get backstabbed by an EAR infection? Stupid body.) ;P
Apparently anti-biotics make me sleepy? :P more likely my body just wanted rest from fighting this infection.
