Hopper, could you explain how the Drakeheart mutagen works? It says it increases AC by 5 but only a dex cap of +2, yet it works even if I'm wearing armor. Kind of a bit confused. Thanks!

BTW...

I am thankful that you have offered me this moot-oo-gin, Hopper. Moko bows his head in gratitude.

Hopper clears his throat and responds in his high pitched voice

"It is a bit complex, but let me try to explain. Basis for most mutagens are special types of fungus that alter physics of the one that drinks them. The nature of the change can be altered by using additional ingredients... "

But Hoppers lecture is probably not something that you want ;)

Drakeheart gives you +5 to Armor with +2 dex cap. Between mutagen and armor you take the higher value of armor buff and lower of dex cap ;)

Moko uses Hide Armor which gives +3 to armor with +2 dex cap. Moko has +2 DEX so drakeheart mutagen gives you +2 to AC.

Since the DC was listed I would know if I critically failed and could come up with a funny wrong answer.

Specifically, I posted the DCs because there is no critical failure. Technically, I'm supposed to make a secret roll; on a practical level, I like to let the players roll as much as possible.

There are 4 ways I can make a check, listed in decreasing order of work for me:

1. Truly Secret: I ask at the beginning of the adventure for your modifier (or look it up on your character sheet if I didn't notice it during prep), and when the time comes, I just make the check without players even knowing that the check has been made. This is the most work for me, and gives the player the least agency, so I don't do it unless absolutely necessary for the story.

2. Secret Roll: I'll ask who wants to make a check, and players can respond with their modifiers. So players will know a check has been made, but not what their results were, nor what all the potential outcomes were.

3. Open Roll: I'll ask everyone to roll openly, and then post the results. Players know a check has been made and what their results were, but not what all the potential outcomes were.

4. Spoilered Results: I just post the results, spoilered, up front. This is the most expedient thing to do in PbP, and I'll do it when the stakes are pretty low. But basically all the potential outcomes are out there, so I trust that if it's DC 20 to succeed, nobody's going to peek and use a Hero Point to reroll a 19.

The answer to this question is outside the scope of the scenario, but by coincidence, I happen to know at least one bit, from the very first PFS scenario I played!

PFS 1 #10-12 Breath of the Dragonskull:
The ancient relic was accidentally activated by some goblins. At the end of the adventure, the relic was deactivated, but not destroyed.

Hey guys, I've been feeling a bit run-down lately and have spent a fair bit of my free time sleeping and catching up on sleep. This is my weekend to work though and so I'll aim to get a post done either before I head to work tonight or perhaps later in the evening if my shift isn't too busy; feel free to bot/delay me though if necessary. Thanks for your patience!

I'll give you a quick peek behind the screen - the only way that was designed to be harder than all the other ways was to convince (via Diplomacy or equivalent) the Crafter to voluntarily give up its eye. That required 4 or 5 successes in a row. All the other ways were equally hard and required 2 or 3 successes in a row.

Poffis, as a field-commissioned agent, you should make a second Earn Income check. The first roll was for the first 8 days, the second roll will be for the last 4 days.

Hooray! Looks good Watery Soup. At first I thought we screwed something up to get no fame but I remember now. No more fame. Thanks a bunch for running this and the hilarious yelp reviews. Also thanks to everyone else. Awesome job with the 'yes, and...'s. I'm impressed that we were able to get to the second page just goofing around before the game technically started. This one was a lot of fun.

Folks, just so you know, there may be a small delay in getting the game reported (a few days to maybe a week).

Frankly, I haven't decided which character to apply my GM credit to. I have two level 1 characters, but coincidentally, they are both playing in scenarios voted the two most likely to instakill Level 1 characters.

As soon as I'm sure one of them survives, I'll assign the credit. I may also ask Tyranius if I can put whatever down and futz with it later.

@GM the chronicle looks good but I have one question.

Daily job - I leveled up to lvl 3 which means that I attempted lvl 2 earn income (and with 23 I made it) this should be 3sp per day x 8 = 2.4. I think you calculated my earn income for 1 level lower as I was suppose to play Hopper at level 2.

With regards to the game, it was amazing. Thank you all for it.

@GM - a really good run, I liked how you describe the encounters (especially the one with kids on the tree). Nice paste of the game.

@Team - amazing role play. I really liked your PC's, the amount of familiars and companions was a bit overwhelming but I like how they were presented.

@All - sorry for my lack of availability erly game. I had few ideas that I wanted to pursue with Hopper which I failed to do due to the catch up that I had to do first week. I will attempt to play better next games.

Stay safe all!

Your Earn Income task level is your character level minus 2, so character level 3 Hopper uses task level 1 for his DC and rewards.
